Tea Cup Chandelier

This is a project that I have been looking forward to trying for a very long time.

It took about two years until the perfect chandelier,
at the perfect price came along.

I went through my china cabinet and chose these five cups.

This is an old chandelier that I found
in a thrift store for $10 last Fall.

First I removed the wiring.

And a lot of the foo-foo.

I spray painted it flat white.

Top and bottom to get good coverage.

I used this 5 minute Epoxy glue
to do all of the gluing on this project.
I glued the cups to the saucers.

There was not enough surface for gluing the saucers to the base.
So, I added these circles cut from plywood scraps.
Next I covered the edges with wassi tape.
Then glued the saucers to the base.

"Viola  . . . My Finished chandelier".

Don't you think it will be pretty with candles glowing in the cups.
I can't wait to have a small back porch dinner party.

I love it:) . . . Hope you do too.

Thanks for visiting.
Connie :)

  5. Hi Connie - it will look good on a summer night!
Thought you'd like this chandelier in a stately home in England. It's just your scene - looks like someone just dropped a load of plates and silverware! Scroll through til you reach the smashed crockery

  7. Connie, WOW, this turned out super cute! Will look really nice with the glow of candles. A favorite tea shop that we used to go to had teacup chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and I've loved the look every since.

  10. Connie,
This is adorable. Wow what a pretty chandy you have got there. I bet when you have the candles glowing it will be even more stunning. I made one of those years ago that actually had the wiring in it and I could use light bulbs. I left that pretty chandelier when we moved and wished now I had taken it down. Yours is beautiful.

    1. Thank you for the sweet compliment. I know that it is going to look beautiful when the candles are all lit.
I think it is hanging a bit to high . . . so I'm going to move it down 6 to 8 inches.
Thanks so much for stopping in to visit :)

    1. I am delighted that you like it. As for the screened in porch, many years ago we borrowed money to build a work shop for Steve, that's when I suggested building me a screen porch, too. One wall of the porch is connect to the side of his workshop and one wall to the house, so construction was quite easy and we have only two walls screened. This is one of our favorite rooms in the house. It can only be used in warm weather but we love it, especially sitting out there when there is a huge rain storm going on. We put a metal roof on it, so it sounds wonderful when the rain comes down :) Thanks for stopping it . . . I love company.

    1. Hi Carol, I couldn't remember where I had seen one of these and thought that it might have been on your blog . . . guess not :) I can not wait to see yours, when you find the right chandelier and decide to make one. I thought about adding some of your lovely ribbon flowers to it, but because it was going outside, I wanted to keep it simple. The porch gets dustier than the house, being easy to clean is essential. Well, it is always fun to see your pretty face on my list of comments, thanks for another lovely visit, Connie :)

    1. Thank you. I tried a booth at Christmas, but the lady who owned the store did not advertise the gift holiday section she had going on. So, to everyone that knew the shop, it was just a furniture consignment shop. In a month's time I sold 3 or 4 aprons. If anyone opens a shop that is especially for booths . . . I will try again. Thank you for the encouragement, I truly appreciate it :)
