A New Place To Make Music

I had this old box sitting around, not being used for anything.
So, I planned on adding it to my next yard sale.
Then I had an idea :)

This is the inside.

This is a chair that I use out on the back porch,
in the summer to play my guitar.
It has shorter legs than most chairs and is much easier on my back,
when playing my guitar :)

Now, for my re-do!!!

Here is the first coat of paint.
Next I applied crackle medium, and painted it white.

Here it is finished :)

You can see the pink, yellow, green, and blue through the cracks.

Another view.

Here is the box painted.
I first painted it white,
then after it was dry and finished,
I sanded it so the white and the wood would  show through.
I wanted it to look a little worn.

Here you can see the inside.

I added a little shelf, which slants to the back.
The purpose is to create a music stand.
My music book can sit on this shelf,
while the box becomes a great place to store other music books.

This works so well, that when fall comes
and I start playing inside again . . .
this will be moving into the house.

It is perfect . . .
I am so glad that I rescued it from my yard sale stuff :)

Here are just a couple more photos.

It is so nice when you can take something that you were going to get rid of . . .
and make it new and useful again.

Have a lovely week
&
Please leave a comment, so that I know you visited.

Here's wishing you a song in your heart,
that lasts all day :)

    1. Hi Fran, it is a pretty color isn't it. This was my FREE quart of paint from Ace Hardware. Every spring they have a day where if you come into their store, you can walk out with a free quart of their best paint in your choice of colors . . . We are in there a lot and more often in the spring, because of all the projects that need doing that time of year :) Have a great weekend :)

    2. Yes that would be fun to get together a couple of hours to play guitar. I found a chord sheet like you had encouraged to get off the internet. We went to a Garden Walk today and I got lots of new ideas for my gardens.

    3. Going on a garden walk . . . than sounds delightful. There are many two and three chord songs out there. That's where I would start. Go to my Strumming & Singing Blog (find it on my profile page) Then go down the right side column and hit two chord songs. You will find Waltz Across Texas and Jambalaya, two easy songs to start out with :) Have fun.

    1. Hi Cindy, Oh, what I wish you lived close to me, we could get together and just jam. I go to am open jam that takes place every Thursday afternoon in the backroom of a friend. We usually have anywhere between 5 and 9 folks show up. It's a great way to practice, get pointers, learn new songs, and have a load of laughs.
Happy Summer . . . and so glad you changed your mind and liked the finished product :)
