Hexie Fever . . . Beware. . . You Could Catch It Too!

Hexies . . . they were taking over
all the space on my end table.

So this is what I did.
The sides of cereal boxes are the perfect size for storage.

Now they look like this,

and this.
They are all lined up and ready for any project that I might become inspired to create.
They look pretty, too . . .don't you think so?

Keep Smiling :)

Your blogging sister,
Connie

    1. Hi Lorrie, I find that making hexies in the evening while watching TV is very relaxing. Because of the injury to my right hand, I have been told to never stop using and exercising it. So, I'm always finding TV watching projects to keep my fingers busy. It's a "Win-Win" for me :)

    1. Hi Billie, this sounds fun, but it is something that i've never done. I'm always afraid to try something like this, for fear that I'll do something wrong and mess up my blog. I'm not all that technical with the cyber world :) I am coming over to see everyone else's links, sounds like fun :)
Thanks for telling me about this.

    1. Hi Donna, no, I'm using printer paper . . . I baste through it and then after the hexies are join together I spray starch, iron and pull out the basting thread and the paper. It work wonderfully :)

  16. Gosh...they multiply, watch out they will take over your sewing room. I have seen them at my house too, but only in cardstock...must make a card with hexie's!!! Nice idea with the cereal boxes.

  17. HI Connie. Just started to follow you and love your storage idea. What size hexies are those? I'm looking for something to store larger hexies in (around 4" hexies).

    1. Hi Bonnie, the truth is, I have never measured my hexies . . . I went into Publisher, chose a hexagon from the shape menu and drew one the size that looked good to me. I'm sure if you keep your eyes open, you'll see something the right size ( or something that you can cut down and tape up to make the right size for your four inch hexies. If you know anyone that works in a commercial kitchen ask them about the boxes that large industrial wax paper and aluminum foil come in. I'm sure that they just throw them out when they are finished with them. They just might be perfect for your hexies :)

  18. Hi Connie, so glad you stopped by my blog, Yes I love your storage boxes for your hexies. I have always been a very slow sewer, I can't imagine making 50-100 hexies in an evening-what's your secret? Do you have photos on your blog about the basting process?-that's where I am really slow. I don't like the idea of glue either. I put a pin in the middle that works good. I am following you now too.

    1. Hi Kathy, you are the second person that asked me to show my method, so I will try and come up with some photo turioal or find a link with a video to add to a post. I was not this fast when I started, believe me . . . but after making a few hundred I noticed that I was simply flying through the process . . . so believe me if you keep it up, you'll become much faster. I am delighted to have you as a follower . . . welcome to my little corner of blog-land :)
