Time To Sew :)

~~~~~*****~~~~~
I have been actually having time to play in my Art Barn . . .
and enjoying every minute of it.
Friday morning I put a pot-roast into the crock-pot
and headed out to the barn to sew:)
~~~~~*****~~~~~

Oh! The carrots and the onions in my pot-roast were from our garden.
I love saying that . . . "our garden"
It has been so wonderful having a place for a garden this year.

 I started out doing some embroidery.
this set of designs is from
Oregon Patch Works
http://www.oregonpatchworks.com/
They are a wonderful company to do business with, so helpful.

I selected some vintage prints . . .

Added some ric-rac  . . .

Did a little patch work . . .

and made three more pot holders:)

Well that is what I did for fun Friday and Saturday.

What do you think?

~~~~~*****~~~~~
If I keep this up I'm afraid that
I might wake up some night
and walk into the kitchen to find
the ghost of Betty Crocker whipping up a batch of cup cakes, LOL.
It is a delight finding ways to tweak my vintage kitchen.
What did you do this weekend?
~~~~~*****~~~~~
Keep Smiling:)

Your blogging sister,

Connie :)

  1. I haven't created beautiful pieces like you have. They are lovely! And how wonderful to be using carrots for your pot roast from your own garden. That must be very rewarding. Happy Sunday to you Connie :)

    1. Hi Denise, it is wonderful having a garden and it is amazing when you pick vegetables just minutes or hours before eating. The freshness surpasses anything that you can buy in the stores and it comes through in flavor. I had no idea:) Having a garden is a new thing for us, but one that we will be continuing every year, now that we have the room. Thank you for saying that my handmade things are beautiful . . . that is very sweet of you:)

  2. Hi Connie, look at all those darling pot holders all lined up! And what a swanky embroidery machine you've got! Mine will do lots of fancy stitches but it won't do programmed designs like that.

    Thanks for your visit and your lovely comment - I am so glad you like my album. If you search my blog for "Recycled Mini-Album" you can read all about how the actual album was constructed - every part of it is from recycled or repurposed materials and it was great fun to make. I've still got a lot of pages to embellish and am hoping to finish it by the end of the year so I can begin to work on other projects, particularly sewing ones.

    Hope you are having a great weekend. Off to church in an hour or so and I think I'm singing this a.m. if they can fit it in - we've got a baptism today!

    1. Hi Ann, Steve went on and on about how good the carrots were . . . it sure makes a difference when they are garden fresh and not stored in a produce house, then carried my truck, and then sit on the grocery shelf. We are loving this, "pick and eat the same day" . . . so much more flavor. I never thought that I would hear my hubby raving about carrots, LOL.

    1. Hi Susie, it is delightful having you visit . . . and thank you for your sweet comment. It was wonderful to have time to play out in the Art Barn . . . I am loving this new space. One of the best parts is that I can leave my mess ad get back to it later. Sometimes when you have to clean up after each time allotted to creativity . . . it's just harder to spread it all out again and remember exactly where and find all of your tools again.

  7. Hi Connie, thanks for your sweet comment on my blog, your carrots look great. I can't seem to grow carrots, I gave up on them. I do great with turnips though. I'm hoping the Round Black Spanish ones do great this fall, they are my favorite. I admire your wonderful machine embroidery, I don't have a special machine so don't do that, but I traditionally start sewing clothes in the fall and winter after the rain starts. Hugs, Hannah

    1. Hello Hannah, thank you for coming over to visit . . . I love making new blogging friends. Your blog is very inspiring to a new gardener like myself. I planted my carrots in an above ground planter that I filled with lots of manure. I was delighted when they can up; I will be planting more next year:) Do continue to visit . . . who knows, I may even convince you to follow me back one day :) Have a lovely week. Oh, I do not have a compost pile, but I do dirt and bury all of my scraps and coffee grinds in between my garden rows all summer long:)

  8. I just love your kitchen Hannah! Those are some adorable pot holders. I wish I was as crafty as you. I did not do to much this weekend, Spent Sat. vising my girlfriend in another town and we played with all of her new toys from Tim Holtz. :). We used some super fine glitter from Tim, and we made some beautiful things but by the time we were done we were glittered from head to toe :).

    1. Hi Becky . . . not Hannah, but Connie, but thank you so much. I am delighted that you love my kitchen . . . me, too :) You can not use glitter without looking like you have been dusted by the fairies, LOL. Hey, that's part of the fun of it. You can always spot a paper crafter in the craft stores, because they sparkle.
      Wishing you a marvelous day :)

  10. Your pot holders look so cute hanging in a row and fit perfectly with your vintage kitchen. Isn't sewing fun? We're celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend, so I spent Friday and Saturday cooking and cleaning. Today is quieter and I'm enjoying sitting with my computer on the couch in front of a fire and watching the grey drizzle outside. Cozy and relaxing.

I do have fun fixing up my vintage kitchen.

  13. Everything is so cheerful and pretty! Glad that you had some time to create. My weekend was very nice ... my birthday was Friday and I had a nice day with so many well wishes. On Saturday, I made 5 batches of playdough for my nieces daycare. My daughter spent the night with us on Saturday night, and that was wonderful. Just hung out and watched t.v. yesterday. Very relaxing weekend after a super busy week.

    1. Good Morning Raewyn, it is great to have some time for sewing . . . and as for the crock-pot, well, if you have any good recipes send them my way. I am going to start using it more and more. With the house and crafting area in different buildings, it will be a blessing to put something in it and go off to have fun and not worry. Up until now it has only been used a few times a year, but now I'm ready to get my money's worth out of it, LOL.

  24. Hi Connie,

    Great potholders! Those embrodeiry machines are very cool -- love the patterns you've chosen. Last weekend I started going through my bedroom closet. I can't believe how much I had crammed in there! I still have some bins to go through and am slowly making progress. I plan to put my condo on the market hopefully next month so I'm having to do a big clean up. My realtor would like me to remove all my books from my bookshelves but I'm just not going to do it! Tee hee. I'm not totally daft and do realize I need a super duper clean out of things that I've collected. So, that's probably what I'll be doing part of this coming week too!

    Hugs,
    Kay
