Finishing Up Another Quilt :)

I was able to set aside a little time to sew today,
and almost finished my latest quilt:)

I've got the top, bottom and batting joined together.
I've got it all quilted.
This one I quilted on my sewing machine.
It's not easy getting all that fabric under a regular machine,
but if there is a will, there is a way :)

I finished sewing the binding onto the quilt.

While enjoying the view . . .

and enjoying a video of Gone With The Wind.

My binding is turned and pinned,
so tonight while watching TV,
I'll hem the binding and add the label that I made.

If I don't fall asleep in my chair . . .
I just might have it finished tonight :)

This Mug Rug was a surprise
that arrived in my mailbox last week.
Isn't it lovely . . . I really like the button trim,
sew pretty.
It was made by Nancy of:
Cozy Thyme Cottage

Nancy is a sweetheart,
if you haven't checked out her blog,
I'm sure that she would love to have you visit:)

Before I say good night . . .
I wanted to show you the fabric that I have waiting
for me to start my next quilt:)

Have a lovely week.
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

    1. Hi Ginny! I love my art barn . . . it is such a sweet place to spread projects out and be able to leave them all spread out until they are finished. It has been fun decorating it, too. All inspired by that lovely fabric in the curtains, that was gifted me by my friend and neighbor :)

Not with your book . . . you kept the mystery alive although the book. I can't even imagion being talented enough to write a novel. Have a great day . . . let me know when the next one is released.

    1. Hi Christine, My next quilt is going to be a "Quilt As Yo Go" quilt. My friend is interested in learning the process, so i've decided to do one so that she can see how they are joined together. When you don't have a long arm machine, or one of those fancy quilting machines, quilt as you go is a great way to do it. The thing that I like best about it, is that you have so much freedom to get creative with your stitches.

  10. Oh how I love to see the closeup of your quilting, I am still a quilt in the ditch or straight line quilting kind of gal, I need to venture out. Look forwarded to seeing what you do with that new fabric :)

    1. Hi Connie, purchase a freehand embroidery foot . . . then drop your feed and get creative. Rug mugs are a great way to practice. I'll be posting my finished quilt in a few days. I sat up late last night and finished it. Check out the label. The design was a pattern that I download to my machine, but after I finish sewing the download I put it into an embroidery hoop and free-handed my name and date. The way I did it is the same way you would free-hand patterns onto your quilts, only when you have the thickness of a front fabric, batting and a back, you do not need a hoop. It is so much fun, you will love it I guarantee.

    1. Hi Tete, I usually put on music or an old movie that I have seen many times, then I can just listen to it and know the story. When I have hand work, I do have a comfy chair to snuggle into and watch as I sew.

  13. I always wished I knew how to make quilts. You have such a beautiful gift, Connie. I love the patriotic colors of this one. Can you believe I've never seen Gone With the Wind. I need to make time and watch it.

    1. Hi Brandi, if you have never read it, I suggest that first. The movie is good but the book is better. Did you know that it was the first full length colored motion picture :) Just a little history there. At the same time that color came out 1938, they were in the middle of The Wizard Of Oz, some brilliant director decided to use this new technique and bring it into the movie right when they discovered the yellow brick road. Thank you for your sweet words of encouragement . . . I enjoy quilting for my family, but would never win a prize for my talent in this medium, but I have fun and I can whip out a cozy blanket :)

  14. You are the most talented seamstress! Guess what I just received in the mail from you?! (Yes, we get our mail late in the day here.) I am *in love* with your handmade goodies...they are even more beautiful in person than what I saw on your blog. I was actually dancing with excitement in my kitchen, lol. I have the dish towel hanging over my stove handle and the pot holder on the side of my fridge. I haven't decided on exactly where to put the banner yet...I need a second opinion, so I'm waiting until Brian gets home from work and he can help me decide. Your work is absolute perfection. (In my eyes, anyway.) Thank you SO much, Connie. You are a sweetheart!

  17. Oh Connie, it's a beautiful quilt. The colors are so bright and I love all things nautical. Do you have a special place in mind for it? I must confess though, that it's the restful colors of the new quilt you are planning that are calling to me. I will look forward to seeing how it turns out. Blessings to you.

    1. Good Morning! I do have a place in mind for my quilt. I am doing my front porch in red, white and blue and I think that this quilt will be a great snuggle up quilt for evenings on the porch. It's nice to be thinking of summer and sitting on the porch. I'm certainly waiting anxiously for warm weather again:) I love the fabric that I found for my next quilt, too. It is going to be fun working with the softer colors and the polka dots. I am delighted that polka dots are back in style again; I have always loved them:)
