Thursday Evening ~ Views From Our Porch

We are so blessed . . .
front row seats on the best show in town:)

They raked the hay this afternoon
and now they are baling it.

 Farmers these days have A/C
in their tractors and CD players.
What would our grandfathers think about that?

There were two tractors baling this field.

We took our dinner plates out to the porch
and had a picnic while watching the show:)

Before I say good night . . .
I have to show you the delphinium
that I bought when I was in Oregon last month.
I was so afraid that it was going to be yellow . . .
because the buds looked yellow.
I've got nothing against yellow . . .I love it,
but I purchased blue.
Isn't it pretty :)

Have a lovely weekend.
Connie :)

Oh, my goodness!
I said goodbye too soon . . .
I looked out and they where already baling!
There is no moss growing under this farmers feet, LOL.
Well, they say,
"Make Hay While The Sun Shines"
I love how the setting sun was lighting the bales.
Aren't they pretty:)
This is the reason for the beautiful light on the hay bales.
What a gorgeous sunset!
Before I say good night again,
look at the shadow on the fence.
Pretty right?

Okay this is it . .
Good night and sleep tight my friends.
Connie :)

  5. Lovely photo's, your delphinium will make a fantastic plant. In the UK they are slug magnets I have to be vigilant and check under them every night. Wonderful sunset, I see the sun slip behind a mountain every night, not as dramatic but still worth seeing.

    1. Hi Pam, I love how God paints the sky each night. Some nights are calming with pink clouds and other times the sky is a blaze of energy, He certainly is an artist:) On the western side of our state they are plagued with slugs. In the 40 years that I have lived on this side I have maybe seen a half a dozen . . . so no worry there. Thanks for popping in to say hi, and do come again. My welcome mat is always out.

  7. So pretty! We roll ours in large rolls around here. Sometimes they cover them in this white plastic to protect them from the rain and they look like huge marshmallows dotting the fields. :) The delphinium is gorgeous! Have a wonderful day and be sure to visit me on the blog. Today my fun little b-day giveaway begins!

I loved having dinner with you on your front porch!!! The food was great, the scenery was awesome. [I loved the flag best] and my sister's favorite flower is the blue delphinium...so made me smile all over today.

    Nice to meet you.

  10. You are indeed blessed my friend. What fun to sit back and enjoy a meal alfresco and be entertained as well. When my oldest brother was living he married a local girl who's parents were farmers. One summer we got to help them bring in the hay bales. Of course they were smaller bales than these. What fun it was riding through the fields on a big flatbed truck. The guys would throw the bales onto the truck while the gals piled them up. It was good hard work. Good memories too. Your delphinium is lovely. Blue is such a pretty color. Everything is looking so nice. I'm looking forward to more summer scenes from your front porch. :)

  15. what a nice view you had. Farmers must appreciate the modern conveniences they have today to make their jobs a little easier.

    1. I am sure that most of them do, and then there are those that have never know the old ways of farming. Farming has always been a hard life, depending so much on the weather and the market for crops. It takes a special breed to be a farmer. I have so much respect for them.

    1. Bless your heart; you are so busy with all of your planning. Did you ever imagine that it would be so big? You are going to totally enjoy the sisters on the fly . . . they come to our town every July and they are a great bunch of fun loving gals. I hope you have a little free time, to tour their trailers while they are there. You must be getting very excited as the count down of days gets closer. I do hope you have lots of help and that you are not burning your candle at both ends. I can not imagine taking on such a huge event . . . but I wish I was they to enjoy it:)

  18. Yeah, I do wonder what their grandfathers would say about A/C cabs in the tractors and radios? I wonder if they'd like or frown upon it.
Those are big square bales... (rectangular...but they call them square bales, right?)
The delphinium is so pretty. I wanted blue bonnets for my momma casket spray...but because they are protected here in TEXAS-- we had to get Delphinium...pretty blue, just like this.
Thanks for sharing... I bet you love your porch!

    1. Hi Patricia, I do love my porch and now that we have a railing around it, it feels much cozier. I am sorry to hear about your Momma. I lost mine 9 years ago, one day short of her 100th birthday. All of her children and grandchildren flew in for her party . . . so we had it anyway. How could we cancel something that she was looking so forward too. Here's wishing you a wonderful week.
