Why, because it has become a full time job,
keeping our yard and garden green.
Our weather has been in the three digits
and it is not predicted to go back to two,
for another two weeks.
I do hope that they are wrong!

Last Saturday it got up to 108,
and Sunday was 112.
I am almost 70 years old and this is the
hottest that I can ever remember.

I've worked so hard getting our yard,
to a place where it looks pretty good.
We have seven facets and I'm moving sprinklers all day long.
We are blessed with a great well,
so that is a plus.
This is the well house, back in April.
and painting the trim:)
Do you notice anything new over to the left?
My new solar clothes drier:)
I'm trying to get grass to grow under it.
I don't want to be putting my basket
of freshly washed sheets down in the dirt.
I pray that if you are also having a heat
wave that you have A/C
or good fans going to keep you cool.
If not you are more than welcome to come jump
in our old geezer swimming hole
or run under our sprinklers:)

Connie...all we have been having here is rain, rain, and more rain...plus flooding!! We have been lucky that the flooding has been more south and north of us. I feel so bad for those that have had their homes floored and their yards & roads look like rivers. It has rained here almost every day for the whole month of June. Wishing I could send some rain your way. I'm so ready for some sunshine.

You're doing a good job of keeping everything looking green there. Hope you aren't melting in that heat :) We've had rain the last couple days and today it was partly sunny but not very warm. Summer isn't starting out so good around here.

DeleteYour grass is so pretty! Your table looks so inviting all dressed up and the sweet bunting just completes the pretty picture! It has been so hot here too. It's always hot during summer in Florida and the humidity makes it almost unbearable. I don't know how my hubby and son stand to work outside! I pray for them often. I do thank the good Lord that we have air conditioning and fans! I feel so bad for those who don't. Have a lovely evening Connie! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThe nice thing about where we live is that we have a dry heat . . . it feels very hot, but we don't have the stickiness of the humidity. That makes it easier to bare :)
DeleteWouldn't it be nice if we could move the water from the rain around to the places that need it. We have gas and oil pipe lines. Wouldn't it be worth the money spent. I am not an engineer so I am probably "all wet" about this but wouldn't it be nice. Love the solar clothes drier. Everything looks green and beautiful. Love the fence.

DeleteIt's extremely hot here, too. Very unusual for our climate. (Vancouver Island). We let our lawns go brown every summer to conserve water, but keep the flower beds and vegetable gardens watered with an automatic system.

Hi Lorrie, I'm going to enjoy hanging my bed sheets on the line . . . it makes them smell so good:) I also like it for big quilts that don't move around well in a drier and for those throw rugs with rubber backing.
DeleteHi Connie, Oh, how I feel for you! Yes, like Cynthia, we are having SOOO much rain.....my flowers (what few I put in) are looking sad...water logged I guess. We are ok on the flooding but many around us are having a hard time.....the river is VERY HIGH and creeks etc too. I pray this heat wave will lessen for you very soon! Your yard is looking beautiful...so lush and green! I LOVE you clothesline!!! I want one too!! DeleteHi Connie, That is some heat you are having! I don't think it has been that hot here or at least not often! When It gets in the 90's I think it is terrible. We do have an air conditioner and I couldn't get along without it very long I don't think. You are lucky to have a well! We have to pay for city water! I do have a water barrel and try to use it but can't often enough because I just don't have the energy right now. Some day maybe! I have a solar drying area too and you will love yours! Nancy
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, I'm longing for the grass to start growing under my clothes line, I really don't like the idea of setting my basket in the dirt . . .not when it's filled with freshly laundered sheets. I get such a good nights sleep when I sleep in sun dried sheets . . . there is something so special about crawling into a bed that's made with them:)

DeleteWe've been hot here in the Gorge, too. It was 92 today. We have 2 AC units that are working hard for us to keep us at 75 in the house. The fan keeps us feeling okay. I'm glad you have a good well so you can keep everything pretty. We'll be driving through some pretty hot country on our trip. I hope we do okay. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

My poor garden is suffering. I can only allow myself every other day to water. As i need the water for the house too.
Its not rained here since March.
the fence has made such a big difference.

Connie- I can't imagine heat like that! We rarely get out of the high 70s here in the summer time. When we get over 80 we are REALLY hot. We do have high humidity here with Lake Michigan on one side of us and Green Bay on the other. I hope it cools off there soon. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, the good news is that our heat is a dry heat, so it is easier to handle than high humidity. As far as imagining weather this hot . . . I could not have either, before it happened. Today it cooled down to 100 degrees:)
DeleteHi Connie, It's hot by us too. In the 90s and it's supposed to hit 100 on Saturday. That is unusual for where we are in Germany. And there is no A/C in Germany, so I'm relying on open windows and cross breezes. Stay cool.

Last Sunday it was 112 here, so after church we went to Walmart and checked out a couple red box movies and stay inside as much as possible. Only taking trips outside to move sprinklers:)
DeleteOh Wow that is very HOT, I just can't take the heat like I use to, yes now that I am going through hot flashes I am so very thankful for Air Conditioning. Your yard still looks great, I hope it doesn't last as long as the predict!
ReplyDeleteHi Connie, yes it is HOT! I never would have believed it. We do have hot summers, but this takes the cake. I know that it will pass and when it does, I just want my garden, flowers and yard to be doing alright. So, I'm passing my time between sitting under the A/C and going out to move sprinklers:) When I'm not doing that, I'm praying for those that do not have A/C . . . can you intimation being pregnant in this weather? There are certainly people who are suffering through this.

ReplyDeleteOh, I know that they are and I'm sure that it is much harder on them, because of the high humidity. At least here we have a dry heat . . . it feels like an oven but not like a sauna.
DeleteConnie, I can't imagine heat like that; we had a hot day (just the one!) on Tuesday and the media were really making much of it "the hottest day since Domesday"!!!!) Just maybe a slight exaggeration, eh? But it was very hot to our standards in England at about 37 deg.C.
ReplyDeleteThe next day we had thunder, heavy rain showers, followed by cooler air and sunshine late afternoon and early evening.
As it rained again overnight and this morning, at least I don't have to water everything tonight, just the greenhouse plants.

DeleteThose are really great pictures. You know, I don't think we've ever had temperatures as high as 112 or 108 here in Pennsylvania. The hottest it gets is around 100, maybe 101. I sure hope you're staying cool, dear.

Hi Dee until now we usually get some days that are 100 to 103 maybe . . . but 112 was a huge surprise and not a very pleasant one. I imagine our town pool was filled with families trying to stay cool, but probably getting sunburned. We are blessed to have A/C and a house that stays so cool that we don't even need to use it all the time. My heart goes out to people that don't have it in this heat. Have a happy 4th of July!
DeleteIt has been very hot here too but a/c in homes is not very common here. We have all the hatches open trying to encourage a through breeze. I would like to come and stand in your sprinkler spray xxx
