with the intention of finding
We didn't have much luck with the camp site hunt,
but we did come across this
in the little town of Sprague, Washington.
I have a thing for old rust cars
and for restored cars.
Especially cars and trucks from the 30's and 40's.
No more words . . . just enjoy the photos.
Oh we did come across this camp ground
on an out of the way back-road.
A lily-pad lake in the middle of the desert :)
it was also like a look backwards
into the past.
Keep Smiling!
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
I've never seen so many old cars and trucks! I thought you were going to say you bought one and brought it home. Gosh, it would be hard to pick a favorite from all those. That is an interesting looking camp ground. Sounds like a fun day.
ReplyDeleteIt was a lot of fun . . . we packed a tail picnic and ate it looking out over the lily pad lake. It seems like all we do is work, so it was a nice change. My favorite are the trucks, although I have always had a dream of owning an old 1950 Chevy panel truck, my Daddy had one and it is just my all time favorite :)
DeleteLove all those old cars and truck. It's nice to see the restored ones but I also enjoy the old rusty ones too. That looks like a pretty camp site
ReplyDeleteHi Ann, that camp site was one that didn't advertise and had a sign out on the two lane road that pointed down a gravel road to the camp. It was small and undeveloped . . . like something from the 50's. I like things that take me back to my childhood :)
DeleteI am amazed you didn't bring one home though it would be hard to choose.
ReplyDeleteFantastic pictures
Hi Gail, my husband is a woodworker, not a mechanic . . . we love them, but wouldn't know what to do with one if we had it, LOL.
DeleteThat really was a beautiful era for cars...and I love rusty stuff, too. Oh that green truck. What a beaut! Thanks for the photos.
ReplyDeleteHi Connie, I think having an old pick-up would be so much fun. I admire the people who restore them :)
DeleteI had to show this post to my Hubby. We love old trucks and would love to have one to restore. I wish that place was near us, we would love to buy one.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a pretty long trip for you, but the one thing about cars out here is that they haven't been driven on the salty winter roads that you have back east.
DeleteWow they are some neat vintage cars. They don't make them like that anymore for sure. Thanks for your visit.
ReplyDeleteHi, thank you for visiting me, too. I enjoy having blogging sister drop by. My welcome mat is always out :)
DeleteWow! What a great collection of cars!!!
ReplyDeleteI know, we were really surprised at the huge collection. It was Saturday afternoon and not one person in sight to ask any questions to :)
DeleteI really enjoyed all your old truck photos. I've been wanting an old farm truck for years to toodle around in and drive in the 4th of July parade with kids in the back. But now we have a 55 chevy! I'll miss you while I'm away camping.. we leave in 2 days. I'm making lists and packing. See you when I return! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteTeresa, you certain do not let any moss grow under your feet. I love that . . . you are a true inspiration on enjoying life to it's fullest :)
DeleteI like your idea of an old farm truck and driving it in the parade :)
wow, so many fabulous old cars.. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Becky, they are very cool aren't they!
DeleteNeat old cars, wouldn't they look great all fixed up? We had a model T truck and Model A Ford....we really enjoyed those cars. But sold them for a bit of profit. Wish we still had them.
ReplyDeleteHi Louise, one of my brothers has a model A. He rarely ever drives it . . . just in parades now and then.
DeleteI too have a soft spot for old cars and trucks. I loved the tour you gave us, thank you so much for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
~ Maria ~
I am delighted that you like the tour :)
DeleteLike so many of your readers above Connie, I thought you would be bringing one home for sure! Guess we don't know you as well as we thought! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jane, you just may not know our budget as well as you thought, LOL. It takes a lot of money to restore an old car or truck :) We have some experience restoring with wood, but mechanic skills are not within Steve's or mine talents :)
DeleteYou had me on the edge of my seat for awhile, I really thought you were going to say you had bought one. My husband and I are both great fans of old trucks and cars it was so nice to browse them.
ReplyDeleteThey are a lot of fun to look at and a great project for someone who knows what they're doing . . . mechanics, we are not, LOL.
DeleteWow you found a big collection of rusty cards didn't you, very cool!!
ReplyDeleteThey are cool. Did you notice all the colors in that one . . . pink, green, yellow all chipping away. It must have had many lives :)
DeleteWhat beautiful photos! My hubby would love looking around that place...and so would I! Looks like a neat campground too! I love to drive around with no plans...something so fun and relaxing about it. Hope you have a wonderful week! I am back at work and life will be super busy for a while, but I will try to visit again soon. Hugs, Vicky
ReplyDeleteIt was a great break from our normal busy life and there is nothing I like better than packing a picnic and hitting the road with no real plans :)
DeleteHi Connie, At first I thought you were going to say you bought them! I wouldn't be surprised because you and Steve are so ambition! Have you gotten to use the sailboat this summer? Nancy
ReplyDeleteNo Nancy, we haven't . . . we are thinking about selling it and the motor-home and up grading to a nicer 5th wheel. :)
DeleteWe had a fifth wheel Connie and loved it!! Hauled it all over the country. Hope it works out for you! Nancy
DeleteMe too :)
DeleteLove the photos of the old cars and trucks!!
ReplyDelete~Cindy
Thanks Cindy, they were fun to explore :)
DeleteSteve loves to paint old cars and trucks. He would be in hog heaven.
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, maybe he could use some of these photos as reference :)
DeleteMy husband would have loved spending a day like that. He loves going to car shows. Restoring one of those trucks would be a fun project but as you say, a bit expensive.
ReplyDeleteWe have no mechanical skills, so it would be out of the question for us . . . but would love to own one that was restored :)
DeleteBe still my heart I LOVE old trucks! I think that picture of the old trucks in a row is frameable and hangable on the wall! So cool. Or get it transferred to one of those mats that they do at Walgreens (drug store photo department) Girl, that'd be cool hanging in my Shug's garage. Can I copy it and do that to it?
ReplyDeleteNeat little campsite! Looks fun.
Cindy Bee
Cindy, I would be delighted to let you copy it . . . just show it on your blog when you're done, with a shout out in my direction. There, that's one Christmas present checked off your list :) Keep Smiling!
DeleteThank you Connie!
DeleteHi Connie! I too just drool over old trucks and cars. It doesn't matter if they're restored or rest it out I absolutely love them. In one of your photos did you notice the heart that would be on the left as you're looking at the photo? It's almost outlined in black....
ReplyDeleteThe camping site looks like it'd be great also.
Hugs
Ksy
Hi Kay, I did not see the heart, until reading your comment and going back to look. That's kind of sweet, right :)
DeleteConnie, Your photographs are beautiful. I would love to have a trip like this.
ReplyDelete♥
It was a nice day . . . getting out on the back roads and discovering new places is always fun :)
DeleteI love the picture of the trucks all lined up together! pretty.
ReplyDeleteLooking for camp sites sounds like a nice drive in the country. Hope the one you found is something you can look forward to using.
We are planning a little trip HOPEFULLY SOON... to a near by little State Park... less than 30 miles from here. We want to take the camper on a maiden voyage soon. I am DREAMING ALL ABOUT IT!
We want to find as many nice places to camp as we can that are no more than 100 miles from home:)
DeleteHave fun on your camping trip :)
