Fresh Picked Flowers In October

Visits from Jack Frost are right around the corner.

Yesterday I went out and picked flowers for the house.

Once he visits  . . . my flower picking will be
over until Spring comes around again.

Have a lovely weekend.

Your blogging sister,

Connie :)

    1. The last three bouquets that i've picked, I thought would be the last. I love growing flowers and being able to have enough to have fresh flowers in the house, even if it is just a rose bud or two :)

    1. Hi Nancy, I love that they haven't changed the design on that baking powder can. It has looked the same for as long as I can remember. Don't fix it if it ain't broke :)

    1. Hello Sweet Sherry, yes I did and I am over joyed. I also commented on your give-a-way and entered my name. This is the best give-a-way ever . . . so amazingly perfect for Autumn:) I love, love, love your feather bouquet and those cotton bolls are so unique to your part of the country . . . and a real treat to someone like myself that hasn't seen them since my childhood. You're the best!

  9. Your flowers are just beautiful! Love the Clabber Girl can with that colorful bouquet..so happy! The red roses in the cobalt blue vase are pretty spectacular too! Enjoy them! Is it getting cold where you are? We have had gorgeous weather recently....mostly 70's and 80's durint the hottest part of the day. I love temps in the 70's....my favorite! Hope you're having a wonderful weekend. I've been sick...allergies and sinus junk I think, but today I have been playing in my craft room and reorganizing some things. Oh, how I love doing that! I think I need intervention...lol! Hugs to you my friend! Vicky

    1. Hi Vicky, I'm sorry to hear that you are having allergy problems. I never suffered from any allergies until I was around fifty, now it seems it is something different with each season. I think that it is wonderful that you are so organized . . . I could use a bit more of that in my gene pool, LOL.

    1. Yes it is, but that is probably why we get so overly excited when we start seeing our tulips sprout out of the earth in the early spring. Winter is by far my least favorite season, but it truly makes me appreciate the others even more :)

    1. Hi Diana, any day now and our flower picking days will be over, too. Enjoy them while you can . . . there is something special about bouquets picked from the garden. I like them so much more than bought flowers. When I was a child in Indiana I was always picking wildflowers for my Mamma, but we really don't have any wildflowers here that are good for picking and making bouquets. The desert wildflowers are the homes of so many insects that you have to enjoy them from a distance and not bring them into the house :)

  12. Beautiful flowers Connie. You and hubby sure got a lot accomplished this year. Hope you can find things to occupy your time....can hardly wait to see what you guys do this winter. Oh, oh, looks like I am back to being "anonymous" on your blog again. I had Windows 10 installed, guess that is part of my problem.

    1. Hi Cindy, thank you . . . and so the seasons go . . . I'm not a big fan of winter, but I do appreciate the rest it brings. I love yard work, but not having it to do for four months out of the year is good, too. More time for quilting :)

  16. Beautiful flowers, Connie. Do you bring in any of your flowers for the winter? I grow geraniums indoors. They do well and make me smile on the dreary days. Hugs, Nancy

    1. Hi Nancy, I haven't done that. Yesterday we started working on the kitchen and installed the bead-board back-splash. Now we can go shopping for new counter tops. I purchased a new faucet and range-hood while we were still living at our old address . . . so it feels mighty good to be finally getting around to doing more work in the kitchen. My sink arrived two weeks ago . . . so we are ready to spruce things up :) After all this is done, if there is room to widen the windowsill above the sink, I want to do that, then I could try flowers or plants in my kitchen window. I have never had much luck with any indoor plants, but I'm ready to give it another try :)
Happy Sunday . . . I got off to an early start and now I'm back home for a while, LOL . . . forgot to turn our clocks back :)
      Connie :)

  17. Flowers are slim pickin's here right now...but only because I didn't plant much in the way of flowers this year. Your flowers are so pretty. It makes for something cheerful to look at...we've got lots of rain here, which we need, but it's over cast and dreary.
I just want to hunker down and read or crochet... I need to be up and being productive!
I enjoyed seeing your flowers. have a great week!

So pretty, I really love how you used the baking powder can, what a simple idea, but it looks so nice!
It's so nice to bring them inside so you can enjoy them before winter comes.
It's been cool here the past week but now tomorrow and into next week we are heading back up to 70's, weird weather here in Illinois so far!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

    1. Hi Kimberley, our weather has been back and forth, too. We have been getting some rain which is very welcome. I think that we are going to use next weekend to turn off our outside water and the wrap and insulate the outside pipes. There are always certain jobs that go along with the changing of seasons :)

  24. All the outside flowers are gone here, too. I'm glad we at least have a nearby Trader Joes where I can buy a bundle of flowers for only $3.99. At least I can keep a bouquet on my table!

    1. I love Trader Joe's and would be overjoyed if one was to come to our little town . . . I won't be holding my breath, LOL.
Today we have a plumber coming to put new pipes in the kitchen and install my new sink and faucet. Steve and I spent the weekend putting in backslash and counter tops :) So, I am very excited to get this done and have a sink that is more functional and that doesn't leak. Oh, the joys of buying an old house, LOL

  25. Hi Connie,

What beautiful flowers! Are those Cosmos? The roses look beautiful. We've already had a light frost here; most of the time we usually have our first snow on Halloween but that didn't happen this year.

    1. Good Morning Kay, The bouquet that is in the Clabber Girl can is a mix of Zinnia, Cosmos and Verbena. We have a good frost last night, so we will be busy wrapping our outdoor water pipes this weekend. Well, I'm off to jury duty this morning . . . it should be an interesting day. Keep Smiling!
