Chicks and ducks and geese better scurry
When I take you out in the surrey.
Our friend and neighbor Jerry
built and engineered this
from an old riding lawn mower.
Isn't it lovely . . .
he came driving it into our driveway the other day
and I had to take photos and share them with you :)
Also, today was senior day at the Goodwill.
That means 20% off.
This is my thrift store treasure.
It was marked $20.
With my discount that is $16.
I won't be painting this beauty.

Your blogging sister,

Oh Connie, that buggy is gorgeous!Bet your hubby has loads in common with your neighbour. That rocker is fab!!
ReplyDeleteWe live in a neighborhood with many talented folks. There is always something going on around here :)
DeleteWhat a great find, the chair was beautiful. Your neighbour has a great talent, his Surrey looked amazing. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI think it is so cute . . . looks like something he such ride in the parade next summer.
DeleteI like that car, I could probably make one out of the old buggy that I have, it's wheels are bad but new ones like he used would be great.
ReplyDeleteI think you should do that . . . you could ride it in your parade to introduce your marching band.
DeleteI LOVE that buggy! What fun!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it wonderful, he did a great job!
DeleteNow, that is the cutest thing! I just showed it to the hubby and told him that he could build me one! He can build anything like that! I would actually like driving it around out here on our property. And, what a deal on that gorgeous rocker! It looks to be in pristing condition. Great find! I know you will enjoy that little beauty. Hope you have a lovely week ahead my friend!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Vicky
Hi Vicky, from what you have blogged about your husband, I know that he could build you one of these little surreys. In fact living in Florida, he could start a sideline business building them. They are much cuter than the golf carts that all of the senior parks use for in property transportation :)
DeleteHi Connie, That buggy is so neat! Did he take you for a ride in it? Love the chair! It looks like brand new! What a find! Where will you put it? Nancy
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, he asked me if I wanted to drive it, but I was afraid . . . I sure would not want to be the one to damage it in any way. As for the chair, it is in the house, but I haven't found that one special place for it yet :)
DeleteWhat a lovely cane rocker. Let's hear it for senior discounts!!!
ReplyDeleteI was delighted to have found it . . . she a little beauty :)
DeleteI just love that chair.
ReplyDeleteI know, and $16 . . . it is put together with wooden pegs, so I am sure that it is old, but truly cared for :)
DeleteBoy, your Goodwill is a whole lot classier than our Goodwill ! And the price for that remarkable chair is cheaper then the junk "my" Goodwill way overcharges. My husband & I went to our local Goodwill because we needed old pots for melting beeswax. Every dang old ( not fashionably old or trendy ) pot was more expensive that buying it new, and so we did. We went to Walmart and bought the exact same pot we saw at Goodwill cheaper than GW prices.
ReplyDeleteYou're so creative. Love your neighbor's ride .
Our Goodwill is hit and miss and I really think that they let everyone that works in the backroom do the pricing, because you will see the same thing at ours. Some items are so over priced that it is a joke and then some items are a steal. It's truly a treasure hunt, in merchandise and in prices.
DeleteHi dear Connie,
ReplyDeleteIts been a while since i have cought up with everyone.
Oh, how I love that Surrey... it just needs a fringe on top):-
I cannot believe, that you bought that magnificent oak chair for 16 dollars.. oh my gosh.. i love it.
wishing you a good happy Tuesday..
lovey post.
Val xxx
Hi Val, great to see you :)
DeleteI know, I feel that when I saw the chair, I'd better grab it right then. It is one of those items that if you walk away, it will be gone in 5 minutes :)
I thoroughly enjoyed a long read on your blog today. Been missing your posts for some reason.....maybe too much camping..ha! Love your new greenhouse and your craft barn is awesome...you are so creative with wood.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen,
DeleteHey! Camping sounds fun :) I say better to be out enjoying life than sitting home reading about other people's adventures. When I have the opportunity I would choose camping over blogging too, and I love blogging , LOL. Thank you for your kind and caring words . . . you are a true encouragement :)
Oh, my! No, you wouldn't want to paint that lovely rocker. What a find! Cute surrey. :)
ReplyDeleteI wasn't in the market for a chair, but it is a beauty and I couldn't resist :)
DeleteOh Connie, what FUN! I love the surrey. So very stylish and unusual! I bet your neighbour was really chuffed to have made such a gorgeous thing, and to be able to show it off to all his friends! He certainly looks very pleased with himself in that lovely photo! As for the rocking chair, how could anybody want to get rid of it, for starters, and for such a ridiculously low price???!! It's just beautiful. I am so glad you are not going to alter it in any way because it is perfect just as it is. What a lovely post.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comment and I'm glad you like my Zentangle cards. I am making cards at the moment in my hopefully annual card factory in order to replenish my stash and avoid the constant panics when I realise I've got to send someone a card and I haven't got any! I have decided to make a lot more than I originally intended so that I can give them to the chemo unit for them to sell to raise funds to help others with cancer. I'd much rather do that than sell them to a shop.
Shoshi
That is a marvelous idea and I'm sure that they will be very grateful :)
DeleteConnie, I want a Surrey and a chair just like yours! That chair for 16.00 is amazing. Darn! I need to go thrifting with you!
ReplyDeleteBuy a plane ticket and we'll go . . . but believe me I go to the Goodwill and yard sales many, many, many times and find nothing at all :)
DeleteWhat a fun surrey.. is it loud? I am so happy you're not going to paint that gorgeous chair.. all it needs is a pretty pillow. Have a super week! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice the surrey being loud at all . . . isn't it cute :)
DeleteOh how fun that surrey would be. You have a very clever neighbor. Did you get a ride? That chair is an awesome find. What a great price for it too. I don't blame you for snagging that one up
ReplyDeleteHi Ann, No, I didn't ride in it, but he ask if I would like to drive it around. I was afraid . . . didn't want anything to happen while I was driving it, but it does look like a lot of fun.
DeleteWay to go Jerry! I bet he cuold sell those babies! It really is awesome!!! So is your new rocking chair! I wouldn't paint it either... beautiful as is!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that he could, but I don't think he is interested in that. He'll just move on over and make something else :) I'm delighted that you like my little treasure. What a deal, right !
DeleteTotally agree about that lovely chair, Connie, best left in all its glory! And I LOVE that "surrey" how fab is that! Lxx
ReplyDeleteI know, wouldn't that be the ticket for driving around town and doing your shopping :)
DeleteDoesn't that "car/tractor" just make you smile? Love it!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great looking chair and I bet it was expensive when it was new. I don't think I would paint that one either. xoDiana
Hi Diana, Jerry's little scurry is so special . . . I can just see him and his wife riding it in the parade next summer :)
DeleteI love it just the way it is too!!
ReplyDelete~Cindy
I couldn't believe my good fortune in finding it. Steve called from work and ask if I would drive to Home Depot and pick up a paint roller for him and Goodwill is right next door. It was 9a.m. and it was just opening for the day, so I couldn't drive past without stopping. So happy Steve needed an errand ran . . . that chair was not going to set there long without being sold :)
DeleteOh Connie, I couldn't paint that beauty either what a find!...
ReplyDeleteCarol
I feel pretty blessed to have found it and at that price :)
DeleteGosh Connie! What a find That's a lovely chair, a perfect fit for your home. And isn't your neighbor clever building and old fashioned surrey from an old lawn mower. Creativity just seems to run through the neighborhood. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Gloriade, you know it does, we have many creative people living in our neighborhood.
DeleteSo clever of him to build that, it looks very cool! Wow that was a great deal on that chair, such great shape. I wouldn't change a thing either :)
ReplyDeleteHi Connie, thanks for visiting. I just had to show you all Jerry's surrey, it is the cutest thing :)
DeleteWow...what a great find...that rocker is just gorgeous Connie! I love the surry! It looks like something my son would build from a lawnmower. He has built a meat smoker from a push mower with a 55 gallon drum connected to it and just last weekend we ate a pork shoulder that he made in the smoker he made from and old refrigerator!!
ReplyDeleteHi Debby, my Steve has made many smokers, too. Each time he builds them, he has people wanting to buy them from him. The last one is on a trailer and is big enough for feeding a huge crowd. I think he is keeping it, but one never knows, LOL.
DeleteHey there Connie, I hope you are doing well. I love your thrifty chair! What a great buy! And what a cool ride your neighbor has. Love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry, it has been a while . . . welcome! That chair, for that price, was one of those rare treasures that us thrifters live for, LOL
DeleteOh, how I love your chair. My grandmom had one just like it. I remember not being able to sit in it as a child!! LOL!! Can't wait to see what color you choose to paint it.
ReplyDeleteHi Brandi, well you never know what the future hold in store, but for now, I think it is pretty just the way it is :)
DeleteConnie
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the photo's of the surrey what a fabulous machine.
I also like your chair ... no painting required.
All the best Jan

ReplyDeleteAnd your rocking chair is stunning...what a wonderful find!
Blessings to you, dear Connie...much love!
