Do You decorate your bathroom,
for Christmas?
Well, I am in a Christmas decorating mood . . .
and because I had a new red bathroom rug
and red towels in storage, that I bought for the old house.
I decided to get them out and use them to
Christmas up my bathroom.
I wanted a white shower curtain with red trim,
and of course I couldn't find what I wanted anywhere.
Then I spied these white waffle textured fabric shower curtains
at Walmart for $10 each.
The way our bathroom is designed it takes two shower curtains.
I choose red checks because they have a country look . . .
and will serve for more than just Christmas.
Here they are . . .
not bad for a $10 bargain.
One of the things that our bathroom
originally came with, when we bought the house,
was this old pipe shower curtain rod.
We looked at new ones and found
that none of them where even close to
being as strong as this. . .
so we kept it.
I then decided to decorate the bathroom with
old galvanized buckets and pans, to match the old pipe.
Those sea shells and ornaments are in
an old gold panning dish
and the wash cloths are in a galvanized bucket.

Have you started decorating yet?

So cute! And I love the galvanized pipe as a shower rod!
ReplyDeleteWell, it certainly screams country farm house, right?
DeleteWhat a pretty bathroom! I hate Walmart, but maybe I'll go looking for a new shower curtain.
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with white fabric shower curtains . . . just think of all the ways you can change them.
DeleteI might buy another couple and put a nautical trim on them, for summer.
Hi! You went to more work than I did but I put all my snowmen in my bathroom! M&M are coming this afternoon to help get up the living room tree! Charlie Brown tree already lit in the den. Won't be long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nancy
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, we got our tree done last night, and put up our outdoor nativity yesterday. My Christmas boy is feeling very good about it . . . he has had such a nice time being home all week that I know Monday morning is going to be hard going back to work. We're looking forward to the day that he can retire, too :)
DeleteConnie, I love your bathroom Christmas touches. I think it's good to do a bit of decorating for each new season, and Christmas colours would be so cheery as your Winter sets in.
ReplyDeleteI think that the red checks will stay up for awhile . . . they look very country . . . I'll just remove the Christmas touches after the holidays. Those white shower curtains were a bargain and I'm already thinking about doing another set in a nautical theme for summer.
DeleteYour bathroom looks very festive. It's actually funny that you asked this question today. I cleaned the bathroom earlier this morning and I changed out a few things and put in Christmas stuff. I don't have a big bathroom but I have a little shelf on the wall that I decorated
ReplyDeleteThis is something that I have not done before, other than throwing down a colorful rug and guest towels, so it was kind of fun :)
DeleteI have just put some Christmas fabric on some plain towels to fancy up the bathroom. Yours looks beautiful, great bargain on the shower curtain.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of fabric on towels and shower curtains is something new that is very appealing to me.
DeleteIt's such an easy way to get a designer look with simple store bought objects.
No, I've never decorated the bathroom, but for some unknown reason I am really in the Christmas spirit...already! I just may decorate the bathroom this year too. I love the shower curtain, and the other Christmas touches. You are good at that!!
ReplyDeleteThank you . . . I am happy that I could inspire you. I don't think about decorating the bathroom either, this was new this year, but it was real fun and easy and feels festive and kind of nice when guests visit :)
DeleteI like all of your Christmas-y touches in the bathroom. We decorate ours too, with touches here and there. :)
ReplyDeleteThis was new to me, but I really had fun doing it and will probably keep doing it now, for years to come :)
DeleteI have been known to put a candle in my guest bathroom with a little wreath around it.. but our master bath doesn't get any attention as we're the only ones who use it. I love what you've done with yours and think your pipe shower rod is fab! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Well, I don't know about fab, but it certainly is strong and does have a uniqueness about it, right? We only have the one bathroom in this house and something that we have had to get used to . . . it's hard going back to one, but we are managing . . . at least there is just the two of us, most of the time. No family bathroom lines, LOL :)
DeleteI love that you can simply whip up something you can't find anywhere. And at a bargain too. LOVE your new shower curtain! I always love pops of red in country decor. You always inspire my friend! No, I don't usually decorate in the bathroom but this year I just might ;-) I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry, thank you for asking. We got together with friends and family that did not have children coming home this year . . . we called it an old geezer Thanksgiving. It was very nice :)
DeleteVery cute, Connie! Looks farmhouse'ish .... My favorite.
ReplyDeleteThank you . . . I have a love for red and white check that goes back so far that I cannot remember when it started. :)
DeleteLove the shower curtain!! Our hall bathroom is pretty small...so I don't put any Christmas decor in there and our master bathroom is even smaller.
ReplyDelete~Cindy
Hi Cindy, thank you . . . I'm glad that I did this shower curtain, because it is such a simple way to incorporate any color into the bathroom. I never seem to find exactly what I am looking for , so this was a good solution :)
DeleteMy bathroom is small and I hadn't thought of decorating it but now that you've planted the seed, I just might try to do a little at least. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteYou are more than welcome, I love it when I can be the one who inspired someone else . . . I get so much inspiration from all of you lovely blogging sisters. Blog-land is a treasure chest of ideas :) Isn't it wonderful ?
DeleteHi Connie, I love your Christmas bathroom! It is warm and welcoming for guests! How about some Christmas music when you go in there? That would be a nice touch too..lol! I think your old pipe shower rod is perfect....I wouldn't change it either. Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful and enjoy the Holidays~~~Blessings~~~Roxie
ReplyDeleteHello Dear Roxie, I am so happy to see you out blogging . . . you have been missed. Maybe some crazy loud song that plays only when the toilet seat is up . . . it might be the solution for men leaving the seat up, LOL.
DeleteConnie - Your bathroom looks great! Love the red check on the shower curtain. Genius idea!
ReplyDeleteJudy
Wow, Genius! That's a word I could get used to hearing . . . not, LOL.
DeleteThank you for your sweet comment. Really it is an idea, that now that I have tried it, I will do it again.
It's a great way to get the color you want . . . I think taking that same fabric and trimming some guest towels would be nice, too :)
I have a kleenex cover that looks like a little snow covered house and I put out a candle. That's about the extent of my bathroom decorating. Yours looks very cute.
ReplyDeleteOh, your Kleenex cover sound very cute :)
DeleteSo cute!
ReplyDeleteI don't decorate the bathroom or kitchen mainly because Steve can only take so much. The kitchen is his domain so I don't invade and our bathroom is too small for extra decor.
Hi Carol, we only have the one bathroom in our new little home, but it was fun poking a little Christmas here and there. I had never done it before :)
DeleteHi Connie. Your bathroom looks great. The galvanized pipe shower rod reminds me of something I'd see at Simply Sandy's in Joseph (you're familiar with that store, I know). Very farmhouse, and the galvanized buckets and pan are perfect accessories for it. I really like that little shelf on your window. I assume Steve added that. What a fun spot to decorate! Your "new" shower curtain is a wonderful addition and will look good long after Christmas has passed. Red and white is one of my favorite color combinations. So fresh and crisp. Well done, my friend! Hugs, Nancy
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, when we moved in I checked out many sites in order to find a chrome shower curtain rod, but they were just not as strongly made as the galvanized pipe. So, keeping it was one of those "when in Rome do as the Roman's" kind of thing . . . so I just decorated around it. Galvanized buckets seems very farmy and country so they worked, LOL. What I didn't realize was that after going to the farm supply store to buy my buckets, I started seeing them everywhere in decorating stores. I may start using my farm supply stuff for gardening and replace with cuter decorator galvanized bins.
DeleteI don't decorate the bathroom normally, but I recently found a brand new Christmas shower curtain at the thrift store for $3...so it inspired me and I will be this year...Your shower curtain is lovely...thanks for the inspiration! I don't begin decorating for the holidays until after December 1st...it maybe even later this year as we are in a fully kitchen renovation right now!!
ReplyDeleteI remember when we re-did our kitchen in our old home . . . it took us 6 months . . . good luck :)
DeleteYes, I decorate my bathroom, not as much as I used to though. I have a small silver tree and nativity set on a table. Love your bathroom look, and yes, the red checks will go with so much.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, thanks for stopping by to say hello . . . we all get so busy this time of year . . . blogging can easiest get put on the back burner.
DeleteHope you had a lovely Thanksgiving :)
I have put up my little crafty tree I made on Thanksgiving and a little salt shaker and a couple of elves. That's it. Oh, and a couple of Christmas pillows on the bed. I am not decorating until the bed goes upstairs and I have more room in this room I'm living in. The deadline to have it done is December 8! We'll see how it goes.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I decorate my bathroom. Besides the kitchen, it's the most visited room!
Cindy Bee
Hi Cindy, I love that little tree and the salt shaver . . . very cute crafts. Yes, I saw them on your post, it fact I really enjoyed reading your Thanksgiving Day post.
DeleteWhat a cozy lovely bathroom. Good thinking about the shower curtains. They are splendid. Probably the closest I would get to decorating my bathroom would be pine-scented air freshener - except I don't use air fresheners. Or those pine trees they hang in cars. So I really appreciate when other people have skills in this area.
ReplyDeleteHi Melanie, with your fashion fare I can see a window with cup hooks above and clear string with lots of Christmas bling and sparkle hanging there to catch the sunlight. Something colorful and exciting, that matches your personality :)
DeleteI don't, but my daughter would love it if I did!
ReplyDeleteWho says we can't be merry in the bathroom . . . go for it :)
DeleteI think the red check add so much to your bathroom and Yes, I put a little Christmas cheer in the bathroom.
ReplyDeletewarmly,
deb
Hi Deb, thanks for your sweet words. I like the red and white check too, it's just fresh clean country and I can see keeping it long after the holidays.
DeleteOh Connie! I want to come stay at your house! I love how cozy the bathroom feels with all the red and green touches. It makes me wish my guest bathroom remodel was complete so I could decorate. I usually do decorate it but it is being gutted and is a MESS! I am thankful though as it was in dire need of a renovation. I love the shower curtains you found. I need to check those out for my bathroom when it's complete. I love how you added the band of fabric to it. I can do that! LOL! Have a great week my sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Vicky
Hi Vicky, you are always so sweet with your comments, and if you are ever planing a trip to our part of the country you need to let me own. I would love to meet you. Hey, those shower curtains are a steal at that price and you can make them anything you want with a little fabric and trim. I think white cotton lace would be a pretty touch, too.
DeleteIf I ever get out that way I'll be sure to let you know! And the lace is a great idea too!
DeleteConnie- SO sweet! Yep- I am with you! I decorate every room in my house---it's a sickness- I tell ya! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThe more the merrier, LOL.
DeleteSuch pretty touches to give it a great Christmas feel!!
