When the New Year rings in,
it always brings new
and exciting things
with it,
and for our family it is bringing
a new great niece.
She is due sometime this month:)
Just before I got sick,
I purchased a 14 inch quilting hoop.
So, I was able to quilt this quilt
on my lap
in the comfort of our living room.
The embroidery was done on my
machine with a design package
purchased from
Oregon Patch Works.
If you have a machine that does embroidery,
I want to tell you
that this is a great company
to do business with.
Their costumer service can not be beat.
Making baby quilts is so much fun
and if you are new to quilting
they make a great first project.

I used those same embroidery designs on a quilt that I made for one of our granddaughters, I think the little girls are so adorable and have a vintage look to them. I love my little 14 inch lap hoop, it makes it nice to be able to quilt at night while watching TV with Steve :)

One day I'm feeling better and the next I'm couching my head off. Steve has it too, and I feel so bad . . . it was not something I wanted to share with him :)

DeleteHello Connie, My daughter and I were discussing making a queen size quilt today for my grandson. When you quilt on your big quilt frame do you have to pin or bast before you start or do you just smooth it on there??? Hope your enjoying these winter days! Nancy
ReplyDeleteNancy, I do all three and it depends on my mood and the quilt. The way this frame is designed you really only have to stretch the sides tautly and that is enough. I have a type A personality and sometimes tend to over prepare :) I've been working on that for years and on somethings I can just let go and sometimes not. The quilt that I am working on right now is a version of a crazy quilt and it is a break the rules, have fun thing, that is fun and also driving me a little bit crazy at the same time. Maybe that is why they call them crazy quilts, LOL.
