Welcome to the front porch!
I wish that I could pour you all
a glass of sun tea . . .
and sit and have a nice visit.
I made new covers for my gliders.
The cherry fabric is a tee shirt sheet,
that I purchased at a thrift store.
I fell head over heels in love with this fabric.
Love at first sight!
Then I covered the bottoms . . .
one in red & one in red checks.
The vintage styled thermometer
is new this year
and so are the canning jar tea lights.
I found these old croquet balls
at a yard sale last year.
Don't you just love spring!
I'm ready to relax out here with a glass of tea
and a good book.
Do any of you want to join me?
Until next time . . .
Keep Smiling!
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
YES!!! I want to join you!!! Your porch is absolutely lovely, and I wish I could sit there with your right now! What a gorgeous spot - your property looks so beautiful and peaceful...and GREEN, unlike the foot of snow I'm dealing with right now!! Love, love, love your decor on your porch - great job!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much . . . we have been working non-stop on this place since we bought it, two years ago. It was in terrible shape, but money & elbow grease (lots and lots of elbow grease) and it is finally turning into our wonderful country home . . . We Love It!!!
DeleteHi Connie,
ReplyDeleteI love the cherry material and your front porch! Love the tea lights also. Did you make those? The red tulips look so pretty with it all. Wish it was warm enough here to be outside. It is rainy! Our time will come though! Could I ask some advice? We no longer have a tape player so getting rid of tapes. The thing that holds the tapes with the slots I would like to repurpose if possible. The only thing I could think of was to put my rubber stamps in but I don't think the slots are wide enough although I may be able to skip every other slot and do it. Do you have any other thoughts about what I could do with this? Enjoy a glass of sun tea for me. No sugar please! Nancy
Hi Nancy, if I were you I would type that into Pinterest. I am sure that you will find more ideas than you or I could ever imagine :) I did not make the tea lights but bought them at Walmart in the garden section. I don't like sugar in my tea either:)
DeleteYour porch is wonderful! We have one very similar but we never spend any time on it as we have a wonderful back deck and that's where we hang out! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteOur home was built in 1905 in a town about 40 miles away and moved to this lot in the 1960's. It was set on the property with the front of the house on the side of the property . . . that seemed a little bit strange, until you live here. By doing it that way the porch is on the east side and always in the shade in the afternoon. Then he planted trees along that side, so now 50 years later we have shade all day long out there and it is wonderful :) If the old man that owned it back then were still alive, I would owe him a big hug, LOL.
DeleteIt looks so cheerful. And I love your wide open view!
ReplyDeleteWe love that view, it's an alfalfa field and last year they got five cuttings. It is so much fun to sit on the porch and watch them cutting, raking and baling the hay . . . and it smells heavenly :)
DeleteI LOVE your front porch! It is so welcoming. Pretty cherry fabric! A perfect place to enjoy summer days.
ReplyDeletedeb
Hi Deb, if you lived close I would bake a cake and make tea . . . we could just kick back and enjoy. It is especially fun to sit out there when the farmer across the road is cutting his hay . . . it smells divine.
DeleteI'll definitely join you for a "relax out here with a glass of tea and a good book," virtually speaking of course!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post and your porch looks a treat!
All the best Jan
Hi Jan, thank you . . . I visited your blog today and your munchies looked especially yummy :)
DeleteYes, I would love to join you. Your front porch looks very inviting. It looks way more like spring there than it does here. Still looks like winter here
ReplyDeleteHi Ann, well, we have been having cold days and warm days . . . winding days, rainy days and sunny days. This time of the year is a surprise each morning. I am especially enjoying the sunny ones :)
DeleteConnie, your porch is wonderful! I'd love to sit out there for awhile. :)
ReplyDeleteWe need that transporter thing that they had on the old Star Trek TV Shows. Then we could easily spend an afternoon visiting and sipping tea :)
DeleteConnie, your porch looks gorgeously invitig. Oh the pleasure of sipping tea and reading a good book!~!What a difference!!
ReplyDeleteThat is how I planned on spending my afternoon, but instead I planted peas in the garden and worked in the potting shed. It's all enjoyable :) Oh, I built a birdhouse, too.
DeleteYou have created the perfect spot for enjoying the best of spring breezes and sunshine! I'd love to join you.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great spot . . . we certainly enjoy having it and it is on the east side of the house so it is nice and shady on a warm sunny day.
DeleteI love all the red accents. you did a great job on the cushion covers and the rocking chair is beautiful. What a great way to display the croquet balls, I have some of these. Enjoy the remainder of your week!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, I am so happy that you like my porch. I want it to be inviting and have a vintage flare that matches up with our 1905 home. Under those cushion covers are beige tropical prints, that do not look vintage. I think that I have had three different covers on them through the years and only left them as they are the first year that I've had them, LOL.
DeleteBeautiful! It looks so inviting!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much . . . I love spending time out there :)
DeleteI would LOVE to join you! The red with the cherry print is very cute! And what pretty tulips. Pour me some tea...better leave out the sugar though! lol Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI never was a fan of sweet tea, sometimes a little lemon though :) I couldn't believe my eyes when I found that cherry print sheet, I stuck that in my cart so fast your head would have spun, LOL.
DeleteYour porch looks so inviting! A glass of tea and a book sound perfect!
ReplyDeleteIt a very pleasant place to spend and afternoon or steel away a hour or so. I have a bird feeder and birdbath within watching distance from the porch, too, they are a hoot to watch :)
DeleteHello again Rebecca, I just noticed that you are now following my blog, thank you. For some reason i thought that you already were . . . we have been blogging friends for sometime now. Thank you again, I appreciate the support, it is like getting a warm hug :)
DeleteI love this...your porch looks very retro! The cushion covers are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteJane
Our home was built in 1905 so I need to have the porch matching the style. That cherry print sheet was a great find and I didn't give more that a couple of dollars for it. You have to love thrifting :)
DeleteI love the splashes of red on your porch. So cheery. The cherry fabric reminds me of Mary Englebreit.
ReplyDeleteI never thought of that, but you are right :)
DeleteI would love to come visit, such a beautiful and welcoming porch. The fabrics are beautiful and the croquet balls enchanting. A real delight to sit and sip tea.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have you over . . . give me a date and I'll bake a cake :)
DeleteOh my goodness, this is so pretty!!! I love the tshirt pillows and everything about your porch. I love spring too Connie! And yes, I'll be over this afternoon for some of that sweet tea :)
ReplyDeleteI am sure that we could find all kind of things to talk about on your visit. We probably wouldn't be still long enough to kick back and read books. Do you like cake with your tea?
DeleteLooking good...love the fabric...perfect! Enjoy our next few days of gorgeous weather!
ReplyDeleteHello Karen, thank you. I am off to play nine hole golf with friends from a neighboring church (not true golf but the card game) i've only been playing with them for about six weeks, but it's a nice way to spend a couple of hours and a great way to make new friends :)
DeleteYour cushions are so pretty. Heck, so is everything else. The tulips, the arbor....
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. When we bought this place two years ago, it had been neglected for so long. It's been a job building fences, arbors, porch railings, putting in windows, painting, planting flowers and trees . . . the list goes on and on, but finally it is all coming together and we love it :) I appreciate it so much when I get positive feedback for all our sweat and tears, thank you again :)
DeleteWhat a welcoming home you have Connie! Love that front porch and all the loving details you have added. Your recovered seating looks great :) ~Wendy
ReplyDeleteThank you, the cushions under those are very 90's beige tropical patterns and not at all vintage. I have had these gliders for many years but only used them without covers the first year. I like a more cozy country look :) I am delighted that you like my porch.
DeleteOh, how I'd love a front porch. ENJOY!
ReplyDeleteWhy they ever stopped building homes with front porches I'll never understand. It's much easier to meet and greet neighbors when you have a front porch. I think that they serve a great purpose in creating closer communities.
DeleteYes I do want to join you! It's snowing here. (Boohoo)
ReplyDeleteCindy Bee
Cindy, leave that snow and come on over . . . it's a great excuse for me to bake a cake :)
DeleteYour porch looks so nice and welcoming!! Enjoy, Janie
ReplyDeleteGood morning Janie, thanks so much for stopping by, I wish that we could exactly sit out there together and sip lemonade and visit.
DeleteYes, I would love to join you on your porch! It looks like the perfect spot to relax - cheerful colors and a peaceful view.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely place to take a break . . . they are getting ready to turn on the irrigation sprinklers on that alfalfa field across the road and the sound of the sprinklers is so relaxing . . . white noise :)
DeleteHow I wish I could join you for a lazy afternoon on your welcoming and beautiful porch for a glass of tea! It has been such a long week and I am so tired! But...tomorrow is Friday and I have no big plans for the weekend so maybe I can get rested up a bit! :) Have a beautiful Friday my friend!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Vicky
Don't you just love weekends where to have "No Plans" . . . kick back and get in some R&R . . . you deserve it :)
DeleteMy Steve is cooking a whole hog on his smoker tomorrow, for a friend's son's wedding. It takes about twelve hours to cook, so we will be around here tending the smoker all day and they delivery the pig.
Oh, Connie! Your porch is so charming! I love the cherries paired with the red checks, the croquet balls, and the mason jar tea lights. It's alls so inviting. The tulips are the perfect accompaniment and your green lawn is amazing. Love the tire swing, too. I feel inspired to get to work on our front porch now. Hugs, Nancy
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, have you been having warm enough weather to sit on your porch? It is beautiful here today, in the eighties, but you know spring, it could be cold and windy tomorrow. I just roll with it and enjoy the pretty days when we have them. On my visit to Oregon last spring, when we met, I purchased a little dogwood tree at a nursery in Enterprise. It was a battle last year with the heat . . . I never was sure if it would live or die, but it is just starting to bub out and I am so excited. Wishing you a beautiful weekend. I wish you lived closer, I would love to sit out there on the porch and have a sweet visit.
DeleteConnie...I would love to sit on your beautiful porch and have a glass of tea and chat with you. It has been to cold here in Ohio to sit outside and we have had a lot of rain showers recently.
ReplyDeletehugs,
~Cindy
I promise that Spring is on it's way . . . warm weather and sunshine :) It would be great sitting out there and enjoying the day together.
DeleteConnie, I love it all!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much :)
DeleteYour porch sure does look nice and comfy and I so love the fabrics you have chosen, so pretty! I can't wait until it is warm enough to sit out on the porch for more than a couple of minutes :)
ReplyDeleteWe have been having on again, off again spring weather . . . so I am enjoying the pretty days when they show their pretty face and cleaning inside when the weather is nasty :) It's working for me, LOL.
DeleteBeautiful! Love the tulips!
ReplyDeleteI know tulips are so pretty, too bad they don't last longer :)
DeleteOops! I almost missed this one! Connie, your front porch is adorable and so inviting. I would just love to sit out there and visit with you and have a glass of tea. Your yard is green and beautiful too!
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun sitting there with you . . . we could exchange sewing patterns and talk about your booth. I'm thinking strongly about doing something here on our property someday. Something like a once or twice a year craft sale, inviting other crafters and making it an on going thing.
DeleteHi Connie, Gosh! I haven't been here in a while as I haven't been feeling very well, but it's good to stop by and share a glass ice tea with you in my imagination. I love your front porch. The colors are all so vibrant and everything looks so fresh, just like spring. It's going to be a lovely spot to see in the summer months ahead. :)
ReplyDeleteWe love that our home came with a front porch and since building the railing and painting everything, it has become one of my very favorite rooms :)
DeleteGorgeous porch! Looks so welcoming. xxx Maria
ReplyDeleteThank you, it took a lot of work to get it where it is, but it is all worth it. Do you remember the before pictures when we bought the house?
