Don't you just love it,
when the weather is nice enough
to dry your sheets outside.
I use my dryer for almost everything.
but, when weather and time permits . . .
nothing is sweeter than . . .
the sleep you get,
sleeping under line dried sheets.
Do any of you still dry your sheets outside?

DeleteLOVE the quilt on your bed! I like the smell of sheets dried on the line, but it's not permitted in our neighborhood. :-(

DeleteI also love the fresh smell of line dried sheets. I keep urging hubby to put up a clothesline but he insists that line dried sheets are ROUGH. Silly man. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteI fought my Steve on putting up a line for years, then when we moved to the country I just said, the argument is over. Country home need country clothes lines.

DeleteI hate to admit that even though I was brought up with having our clothes on the line every wash day (even in winter), I don't even have a clothes line :( I do love the fresh air smell on sheets though!

Hi Wendy, I do not use my line for everything, but love it for sheets, quilts and rugs, especially rugs with rubber backing. I think that the backing lasts longer when not put into a hot dryer. We are all living busy lives, some more busy than others ... the dryer is a great invention. I remember hanging clothes on the line in the winter . . . NO FUN!
DeleteSadly I take the lazy way and use my dryer for towels and sheets. When the sun is shining I will hang jeans and my DH's socks etc out on the line though. Have a lovely weekend.

DeleteOops. I didn't press publish but it disappeared! Just like magic! LOL I don't dry my sheets outdoors anymore because of allergies. Would be nice if I could. I do dry a few other things outdoors at times. That is a beautiful quilt! Did you make it? Looks like embroidery on your pillow cases? Nice that you use them! Pretty afghan. Did you make that too? ReplyDeletegirl! I sold my clothes dryer two years ago...because I never used it! (last year and this year and been super rainy) But I have been hanging my laundry since I've been married. When my kids were home I hung laundry, when I cloth diapered... I hung laundry. I love hanging laundry...it's my most favorite chore to do! Really! The most I used my dryer, was when I realized my youngest son's allergies would be minimized by drying in the dryer. His sheets, towels and clothes got tossed into the dryer-- to remove allergens. It helped!
ReplyDeleteI even hang my laundry rain or shine -- I have an indoor line in my mud room. People call me crazy-- but, why not. My solar dryer doesn't cost me a cent to use either. ;)
I love seeing sheets on the line... they are like huge flags! When I see laundry on the line while driving through the country-side... it makes me smile. ;)
I know what your mean, I love seeing clothes flapping in the wind on a line.

DeleteI wish I could hang my sheets - and our clothes - outside to dry, but I can't due to my terrible allergies (pollen, grass, trees, weeds, etc). In the nice weather, I do hang most of my cotton shirts over my porch railing or patio chairs to mostly dry - then I put them in the dryer for a few minutes to (hopefully) kill off any of the allergens. My mom hangs ALL her laundry out to dry, year-round! She cracks me up because she even does it in the winter. Her mother did the same thing. I'm not THAT crazy, lol!

ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like the smell and feel of line dried sheets. Sadly, I don't often hang mine out to dry, but during the summer when I'm home, I try to. I sometimes hang other things out to dry during the summer too. Summer break is just around the corner for me and I look forward to some line dried sheets. I can just smell them now. ReplyDeleteI love that clothes pin bag!!! So cute. One of my lines recently broke and needs repairing. I agree, you can't beat outdoor dried laundry! There is something therapeutic about hanging out clothes... and then getting them in!
