His Eye Is On The Sparrow

  I woke up this morning
with this song in my heart.
It is one of my all time favorites
and brings me such an overwhelming
feeling of peace and of being truly loved.

If He watches over the little sparrow
how, oh, how, much more does
He watch over us.

Why should I feel discouraged
 why should the shadows come;
Why should my heart be lonely
 and long for heaven and home;
When Jesus is my portion
my constant friend is He;
His eye is on the sparrow
and I know He watches me.

I sing because I'm happy;
I sing because I'm free.
His eye is on the sparrow
and I know He watches me.

I Hope that I can put this in your heart, today.
And that your day can be blessed
with the riches that are in this
amazing song.
Whenever I am tempted
whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing
 when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him,
from care He sets me free.
 His eye is on the sparrow,
and I know He watches me.

Also if you play guitar . . .
I posted all the chords and lyrics
for this on my other blog . . .

  3. A beautiful post Connie...that song speaks to my heart as well. One of my favorite versions is sung by the group Selah...don't know if you have heard it by them. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOm2mMusqUw

  4. Amen, Connie! One of the best memories of my childhood is sitting in front of our black and white (gasp, I'm dating myself) television and singing along with Ethel Waters on the crusade....His Eye is on the Sparrow. Sweet comfort to us all!

    1. I love these old songs. The church that we attend sings more modern songs . . . they are meaningful and lovely, but I prefer the old songs that I grew up with. They are the songs that strike a chord in my heart every-time I hear them.

    1. Hi Nancy, I spend my morning 8:30 to 1:00 mowing and weed eating. I only went out to do a little work in the backyard, but as usual I got carried away and didn't stop until I had gone over the whole yard and spruced it up, LOL. I just thank the Lord that I have the energy and the body health to still be doing this, it is a blessing. Oh, and when I was done I soaked in a warm bubble-bath . . . that too was a blessing :)

  11. So lovely, me and my oldest daughter were just speaking of this. How if God takes care of the needs of the tiny ones that fly he can take care of us as well. Sometimes we don't see the gifts he gives. So we have to keep ourselves open to that. And all that he has given us. Happy Wednesday with love Janice

    1. It is easy to get so caught up in our everyday lives and forget about all the many blessings we receive each and everyday. Especially if we have a demanding life style, small children, jobs, housework, care-giving, committees, and don't forget husbands, LOL. But, he is there in everything we do and He is so available no matter where we are or what we are doing . . . that in itself is a huge thing to be grateful for. Thank you for stopping by and sharing, it is so good that you and your daughter can opening share your love for the Lord together.

    1. I wish that I played better. Since we bought this house two years ago, I do not pick mine up like I use to. Before, I was playing it at least ten hours a week; now I pick it up for maybe 1/2 hour. Practice makes perfect, not that I would ever be perfect, but better for sure :) Now that most of our work is done on this property, I need to get my priorities back in line :)

  18. Hi Connie, You are surely one of the kindest bloggers I follow. This is such a sweet post. Thank you for the blessing. I also want to thank you for your kind comment yesterday on my blog about the potatoes and Grant County. We were driving through there and I saw the sign on I-90 that says Grant County is the leading County for production of potatoes in the USA. Earlier on my trip I had seen some pretty big potato farms in Idaho so I am truly impressed with Grant County. Thanks again Connie and kind regards to you!

  27. Hello Connie, As you know, life happens and when it does blogging is one of the things that takes a back seat. But I did stop by to see you during my lunch hour at work. The moment I read it I started humming and I couldn't stop all through the afternoon recess as I watched all the children playing on the playground and thinking His eye is on every one of us every moment of the day. Such a beautiful and wonderful reminder. I sing because I'm happy. I sing because I'm free... Thank you for sharing it.

  28. Hi Connie,
    I'm back. I needed a break so I took one. I didn't know I was going to take one, but indeed I did! I don't know the song, having been brought up in a Catholic church, but the words to bring me peace. Thank you. I haven't had my guitar out in months. I miss it, but just too dang busy. The house is almost finished though and maybe I will get some free time again!

    1. Hi Cindy, I know the feeling. My blogging has slowed way down . . . it is just a busy time of the year. I also have not been playing my guitar even half as much as I used to, but just the other day I was in line at Walmart and the lady behind me ask if I still sang. She was the Activity Director of one of the nursing homes in town, so I gave her my new phone number. We dropped our landline when we moved here, so I've lost contact with a lot of people. I love playing in nursing homes, these people need music in their lives, it bring back happy youthful memories :) Thanks so much for stopping by, I value our blogging sisterhood.

  30. Awwww! What a good word for me today! I've had a few troubles lately (family stuff) and yes it's so good to know that HE knows all about it and how silly for me to carry this stuff around on my own. Thank you sweet Connie for this reminder today. I'll definitely put this song in my heart, hugs to you my friend!
