Adding a little vintage
to my kitchen.
It's simple, you need:
Scraps of 1x4 or 2X4,
Craft or chalk paint,
And these.

#1. I printed out what I wanted on my ink jet printer.
#2. Sprayed the paper with acrylic spray.
(this keeps the ink for smearing)
#3. cut them out.
#4. painted my blocks.
#5. Sanded the edges to distress.
#6. Mod Podge my clip art to the wood.
That's it!

DeleteThese are awesome. I love them. I never would have thought to spray the pictures with the clear acrylic first. I'm assuming that since the pictures were coated with the acrylic that you didn't need to mod podge over top of them?
ReplyDeleteI might not have had to, but I did anyway. It just gives them an extra layer of protection. I'm happy that you like them . . . super easy to do :)

Mine is a cheap one from Walmart and I've had it for 7 or 8 years and it has never failed me. The only thing that I would look for is, in my opinion, I would never buy one that doesn't have a flat screen scanner. I scan so many things for crafting and for keeping financial documents and family records. I would be lost without one. Thanks for stopping by, you always brighten my day with your comments and friendship :)

They are easy to make and cheap . . . right in my budget. Actually I got this idea last Christmas when Marshalls had similar little vintage Christmas pictures on blocks of wood . . . $4 and $5 each :)

I was born in 1956, in Montreal, Canada, (still live here), and I just love things from "before my time", especially the early 1900's to 1940's, including music! ReplyDeleteI am the same way, especially the music. We have a party game that we play sometimes that has to do with music and it's good to know the lyrics to many songs . . . I grew up watching old 1930's and 1940's musicals on TV, so I have a huge collection of songs stored in my memory bank. It's nice because as a kid whenever we played sports no one wanted me on their team (I'm terrible) but when we play this game, everyone fights over who gets me on their team, LOL.
