Snow, Snow Go Away,
Old Grey Connie,
wants to play, LOL.
Today we are experiencing
more snow along with fog.
Does it slow down the drivers?
Absolutely not!
You would think that this
orange constrution fence
might give them a clue.
It's quilting season in the barn :)
And the potting shed is waiting
patiently for Spring.
Before I say "goodbye"

You're very welcome for the fabric! It was quite lonely here. Your snow pictures are beautiful!! It's about 62 degrees here today, so I guess it will be awhile before we see any snow. Happy New Year!!

It sure is pretty there but gosh, don't it make you dream of warm days and planting flowers. Spring will be here before we know it. I've been spreading pine straw, wearing a tee shirt today. Our winter days are coming though...January and February! We are hoping for some snow.
ReplyDeleteThe good thing about a cold snowy winter is less bugs and more mountain snow. In our desert area we depend on the snow melt to fill the lakes and rivers and provide irrigation water. I am looking forward to spring, but for now I'm enjoying the relaxation of having more time to sew and create and less time mowing, hoeing and weeding, LOL.

ReplyDeleteThat broken fence is a bit of an eye sore . . . we have metal posts cemented into the ground that got bent over by his car. I'm afraid if we tried to bend them back in this cold weather they might snap. Hopefully we can bend them back in the spring and not have to dig them up and replace them. That will be a great savings on labor and money :)

We had a mild winter last year and really for several years now, so I guess it's our turn for snow :) I just wish the drivers would slow down. Hopefully we won't have another accident out there. So far there has been two cars in the ditch in front of our place this winter. Only one did damage. You be careful out there on your daily walks.
DeleteYour snow is so pretty on the fence and wagon wheel. We get so little snow where we live that I'm always happy to see it. We've come up to the mountains this year to find some more of it. It's so gorgeous I can hardly stop looking out the window.
ReplyDeleteI think that the mountains around here are getting a lot of snow this year. I'm sure that the ski resorts are happy and it will be great next summer for irrigation in our area.
DeleteWe got a lot more snow last night too. There's about 18 inches on the ground now. I'm ready for spring!

You always get much more snow than we do. When our daughter was younger and going to Eastern in Cheney and living in Spokane I was always watching your weather conditions and worrying about her driving on slick roads.
Deleteoh wow, look at all that snow. It was up to 60 degrees here on Monday and then today it was colder again. It's supposed to start snowing again either tomorrow or Thursday

DeleteIt's the law to have it, but they do not do a good job of enforcing it around here.

DeleteOh so pretty... but I'm NOT envious! We still have alot of snow on the ground from our big storm 2 weeks ago! More coming later this week and a huge cold front so you'll probably get it too! I do like the winter months for the slowing down and being able to sew and craft more and not HAVE to go outside and take care of the yard, lawn, etc. I'm glad the holidays are about over.. that is always such a huge rush and busy time.. now we can hopefully relax for the next 3 months at least.. around here you don't plant much outside until June! I still haven't covered up my glads.... I forgot. Hope they survive. Maybe the snow acts like a mulch, right? Love that fabric you got from Sunny... just beautiful. I have alot of western fabrics just sitting on my shelf.. they were to make western shirts for the years I country western danced.. now just sitting there and I should make a quilt or wall hanging or pillow cases or something! I still miss the dancing though and loved it so much. Your barn looks so inviting... I can just picture you in there with the fire going, working on your projects. Take care and enjoy the week! ReplyDeleteI used to truly hate winter . . . icy roads to drive to work on, worrying about loved ones driving on them, afraid of slipping and falling, and just being so darn cold all the time. Now, that I'm retired I can at least not have to drive myself and like you said . . . more time to be creative. I think that you should made a western quilt . . . or maybe some new duds and go out dancing again. It sounds fun!

ReplyDeleteI wish that I could mail you some snow . . . it is beautiful, but cold. Imagine waking up tomorrow and your lawn has been replaced with a giant snow-cone :) That's a shaved ice treat with favored syrup . . . do you have them in Australia?
DeleteThe snow pictures are just gorgeous! I long for snow every now and then but wouldn't care to live in it. We have had such warm weather since Christmas...the air conditioning keeps coming on! I prefer no air and no heat! I wanted to thank you for the sweet card you sent me. I have been meaning to get on here and thank you but honestly life was so busy there for a couple weeks, it kept slipping my mind. It was so sweet of you though and such a welcome surprise in my mailbox! I hope all is well (except fo the fence). Wishing you a blessed and beautiful New Year's!

Hi Vicky, the snow is pretty, but my cold bones long for some warmer days :) As for the fence, well, it's only a fence, just another job to add to our many spring projects around here. We still don't have the entire acre fenced, so there will be more fencing to do than just mending that one. It will be nice when we can open the door and let Butchy run free, knowing that he is safe from cars on the road and bigger dogs and coyotes. Here's wishing you a lovely New Year. Get plenty of R&R before heading back to school :)
DeleteOh my you are getting a lot of snow aren't you, it looks lovely but I am thankful that we haven't had to deal with all of that... it surprises me the way some people drive in this kind of weather.
ReplyDeleteMe too! You know about the car that went through our fence, well there was another that ending up in the ditch across the road by the alfalfa field. It doesn't stop them. Our road has 35 mile and hour speed limit, but most cars do 40 and 50 even on the compounded packed snow and ice. Dumb! That's all I have to say about it . . . Dumb!!!
DeleteIt has been a snowy December in Illinois, too. Most of it is melted now (except for those huge dirty snow piles in parking lots and on the sides of the road), though we're due for a little snow today and then more next week. Such is winter, I suppose! I know you will be warm and happy in your barn, quilting away. :-)

DeleteSnow on fences always looks so pretty. I love how your red birdhouse just pops in that second photo. Yes, one would think the orange fencing would be a clue to slow down. There's so much snow here that I couldn't get to my garden shed if I wanted to. Unfortunately, that's where the empty containers for Christmas decorations are stowed so I'm going to have to make a path out there soon. What was I thinking by taking them back out there? Oh well, live and learn. The western fabrics are very pretty. Enjoy the rest of 2016. A new year is almost upon us!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to live with the containers piled in the house, so of course they are in the shed, ours, too. I have been wondering just how much of a mess we will make tracking them in and then back out. On well, when everything is put away and the house is in order again, it will feel really good. Steve like ours up until the day after New Years. It's his favorite time of the year so he wants it to last as long as possible, LOL
