Weathering The Weather

What do you do when winter
and cabin fever set in?
I climbed up in the loft with my camera
and took a few shots.

The weather is so bad . . .
and I know everyone is getting tired
of snow photos.

Our temperatures warmed up
and then we started having an ice storm.
Walking outside is dangerous,
let alone driving on the ice packed roads.

Last night Steve mentioned how good
it feels to have the pantry full.
It gives us the option of staying in
and "Weathering the Weather"  LOL.

I finished this quilt . . .
it's the one that I spent so much
time ripping stitches on.

The back.

Well, that's my post . . .

Here's wishing you all a
wonderful day.

Do something fun!
&
Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  1. Your quilt looks great. I hate ice storms. It's scarier being out inthat than just snow.

    1. Oh, it was a challenge walking across the road to the mailbox, yesterday. Slipping and sliding all the way.

  2. Connie- The back of that quilt is almost as pretty as the front! You do beautiful work. I am tired of the snow and cold here, too. We do hope to do a bit of a getaway for the last week in February if all goes as planned. Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week. xoDiana

  3. The quilting is wonderful. Trying to learn to do it soon as I've saved too many fabric scraps and will either have to sew or purge. Thanks for inspiring us.

  4. Beautiful quilt, Connie. And the loft is a cozy and pretty place. Stay cozy - it's warming up here and we're back to rain, rain, rain, along with dark.

    1. I thought the snow was bad, not now we are covered in ice and it's scary to even venture out a short distance. If only I was a golfer, I would put on my golf shoes and crush across the lawn to the barn. I didn't go out there yesterday, but I'm thinking about giving it a try today . . . I sure don't want to fall.

  5. Oh Connie- I feel for you not being able to get out and see and feel sunshine. We have been blasted by sunshine just a bit lately, but the Summer here in oz. hasn't been too bad.The weather really affects your mood doesn't it? I never get tired of snow photos, as we never get any snow.Love your quilt.

    1. Hi Dolly, thank you so much . . . you have blessed my morning. I'm feeling very cabin feverish, held in the house by an ice storm . . . I'm thinking about trying to get to the art barn today . . . but I sure don't want to fall down getting out there.

  8. Love the quilts and I always enjoy seeing the pictures of your Art Barn! What a wonderful place to be during the bad weather. We are having a lot of gray days here and rain! Still working on getting my "Art Barn" in my bedroom and closet organized! LOL Have a wonderful day my friend! Nancy

  9. Your quilts are just beautiful! It always looks warm and cozy there with you. I know you've made lots of quilts for other people, but do you have a big stack of pretty quilts that you keep for yourself? Just wondering. :)

    1. I don't but this year I want to start making some to keep. I would like to get a hutch and put it in the house filled with quilts . . . to show and to use when the weather gets nippy. I would also like to have a stack to let people choose from, instead of guessing on the one that they would like gifted to them :) After I'm gone from this world, I would like to be able to continue hugging those I love with my warm quilts:)

  10. Pretty quilt, Connie. The fabrics looks vintage. I'd actually like to make a quilt using the pattern on the back. It's so simple and I love the prints and colors. Very charming. Stay warm. Just keep repeating, "Spring is coming." Hugs, Nancy

I could have ice skated to the art barn . . . the path that I hung out from the snow has become a place for the ice to form. Every time one of us goes outside the other watches from the window, ready to rescue each other if we fall. Steve has ice cleats that fit over his shoes so that's a good thing. He went out and worked on the pathway the best that he could, because he knows how much I want to be out in the barn. What a sweet man :)

  11. I love your quilt! Extra special with the pieced backing. Yep, winter is here for a while yet. We will be staying home for the next few days, too cold to go anywhere.

  14. LOVE that quilt! So happy you all cozy and warm in your cottage, with no need to brave the elements. We've had virtually no snow so far this year, and I'm kind of craving a good snow day! Although it doesn't mean quite as much now that I'm retired. LOL!

  15. Your art barn looks so cozy! Love the finished quilt. You all stay safe and warm. Icy roads would scare me! At least you have plenty of crafty goodies to keep you from getting bored. Have a lovely weekend.

  16. I am always thankful if we are all set in our home so that we wouldn't have to get out if we didn't want to... but my hubby always says it is good as long as we don't lose power. Thankfully in our last ice storm we did just fine. I would say you have made good use of your time by getting your lovely quilt finished, you did a wonderful job with it, not only the front but I love how you do the back too!

    1. I am concerned about loosing power . . . we have a well, so that would mean no water and probably froozen pipes. Our neighbors have some kind of a generator backup. We need to look into it.

  17. I think your Art Barn looks so cosy.
I love the colours on the quilt.

Stay safe and warm - I always love a nice bowl of warming soup in cold weather ...

  19. Yep, I'm done with snow pictures! And snow! Today it got up to 50degrees and I didn't have to wear a coat! Great time to pick up a few groceries, get gas in the car, and meet a friend for coffee. When it gets cold again, I'm hibernating. That quilt is beautiful! On the front AND the back! Gorge I tell ya! You do such great work.

    1. Hi Cindy, thanks so much for being such a sweet blogging sister. I agree, we have to take advantage of any nice weather, because spring isn't here yet . . . we could still have plenty of snow and ice between now and the end of March. Stay warm and cozy.

  20. Connie.... it's wonderful to see your quilt hung up like that! You are amazing how fast you finished your projects. Your Art Barn looks so COZY and inviting. Love those mason jar lights in front of your quilt.. and love the cozy look of your loft. I want to be there! We are lucky not to have had any ice yet this year.. just tons of snow. I think if all of my crafting stuff was in a building away from my house, I'd have hubby hook up some sort of pully from my house to the building, then get an old sled and sit down on it and pully myself over to the building! I could not be away from it for more than a day! I'd say have hubby pull you on a sled or one of those discs, but don't want hubby to fall either! If we had ice, we'd have to slide down our driveway on one of those plastic discs. I do hope you get over to your Art Barn today... I'm sure it's calling your name. It's sunny here and a balmy 43 so I'm loving it. Can actually walk to the car, get in and drive somewhere without worrying about the bad roads. I too hibernate when the weather is so cold and bad. I actually got out yesterday and it really felt good. But I don't mind being home for a week or two in the bad weather. That's the pleasure of retirement. Have a wonderful "artsy" Sunday! xoxoxo Marilyn

    1. Hi Marilyn, I laughed throughout your comment; it drew a comical picture in my mind of this old lady pulling herself through the icy to get to her Art Barn. It would be a sight, LOL. Steve just called out to me a minute ago and said, "Look out the window" . . . it's coming down again, tiny flakes but full force. Spring is going to look so good this year. Thank you for your sweet blogging friendship.
