Last week my friend and neighbor
told me that someone had given
her a small antique desk.
She didn't have room for it
and it needed some repair.
She offered it to me,
because she knows how I love
old pieces and projects.
Here it is
finished and in my house.
I had more problems with this
desk than anything that I've ever
made over.
That is the reason for the second
lower trim-work.
I totally mangled that area
and had to cover up my mess.
I gave the inside a lace
look with the help of
this little stencil.
My sweet little helpers :)
I'll say goodbye until my
next post and leave you
with this verse:
John 16:33
I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
In this verse, Jesus acknowledges that the Christian life will not be easy, but He also promises that we have a greater hope in the world to come!
Have a sweet week and thank you so much
for visiting.
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
Connie, I love your "new" little desk. You did a fine job on it. Your helpers are cute, mine would be covered in paint. LOL Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteSuch a dainty little desk, Connie. I love the way you have made the interior so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThat desk looks fantastic. I like how you stenciled the inside.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of your fur babies.
Wow you did wonders on that cute little desk. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteThat is one of my favorite Bible verses. I have so many favorite ones. :)
Oh Connie - that desk turned out beautiful! I love the color and your lacey inset. It's just perfect and looks great in that spot.
ReplyDeleteYour new-to-you little desk is such a pretty shade of green. The lace stencil inside is lovely. Have a good week, Connie.
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely! I love the color you chose. I have a desk just like that except that it has cubbies and a drawer inside. It belonged to my grandfather and after he passed my grandmother gave it to me.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a sweet little desk Connie. I love how you refinished it and gave it a new life in your cottage. How I wish I had your eye and decorating skill. I would love our house to look like an English Cottage but how do you do that with a split level house?
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I need to count my blessings and be content after seeing some of the things happening around the world
Blessings
Betsy
Well, I'm sorry this little desk gave you such a problem but you succeeded in turning it into quite a lovely piece of furniture. I love the colour you chose for it.
ReplyDelete(Beulah's ears are SO cute!!)
Nice work there Connie on your new desk- the stencil work looks very good- a good idea for sure. Best Wishes. KEV.
ReplyDeleteYou did an amazing job re-loving this desk. I love the color you chose. On my laptop, it looks more green than blue though.
ReplyDeleteSorry you had problems with it but boy did you do a fantastic job with it!! Love that color and the mirror on top looks great with it!
ReplyDeleteOh Connie I love that sweet desk! Love the styly and that color is so beautiful. It looks aqua blue to me and that is just what I'm going for in my living room and bedroom. I have a similar desk that has been in my family for at least 100 years.. in fact think it's more like 140 years, as belonged to a great aunt. I want so much to paint it, as it is the original wood brown, so it sits in a corner of my living room, not being noticed at all. My sister says don't paint it! But if it was white or a light color it would show off so much more! You open the top.. it kind of folds in two and then back, and has cubbies inside and a board that slides out to work on. Would be such a neat desk to actually use! I may get brave and just paint it. It won't hurt anyone now! Your talent amazes me in all that you bring back to life! Hugs to you.. Marilyn
ReplyDeleteWell that is absolutely amazing! I love what you did to that desk. It looks lovely! Have a cozy evening.
ReplyDeleteA fantastic job Connie, it looks amazing and perfect in your home. Love the helpers.

ReplyDeleteYou have done a wonderful job, and overcome those problems you encountered along the way. Hello doggies, dont you both look sweet!
ReplyDeleteHi Connie, I love your desk! Would you come and redo my house! Your little helpers are the best! I started blogging again and posted a picture of my little helper (destroyer). That Bible verse is a great one! Nancy
ReplyDeleteYou did a fabulous job with this beautiful old piece Connie! I just love the color too, so beautiful. One would never know if you hadn't said a word :) Your dogs are so precious! Look at them both posing for you! I have leaned on the verse you shared so much through the years. The Lord doesn't shy away from allowing difficult things in our lives, and He uses them ultimately for our good. May the sweet blessings of the Lord be with you :)
ReplyDeleteGood job on the secretary desk! I love it, and the color is perfect for you cottage :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you completely and especially with the verse from the Bible!!
In fact, that verse is the very verse that I chose this year for my 'theme'.
Take Heart!!
God is in charge and we must lean into our faith and into our personal relationships with God and have faith in Him.
He loves us!!
Smiles :)

OMGOSH- I LOVE this piece. It is wonderful. Do you know what color that is? It is close to the jadite I have in my kitchen. You did a fantastic job on it. Love your helpers, too. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteLoving your blog and those cute doggies. You are very clever.x
ReplyDeleteHi Connie, You did an absolutely wonderful job on fixing up the little desk. I love little writing desks like yours. One thing about those desks … A person can have all their pens, pencils, envelopes, postcards, writing pads, etc., closed up in the desk which gives a very tidy appearance. Then, easy to open up the desk and write a nice letter. I’ll bet you will do that. :-) As I’ve said before, you are creative and crafty … an excellent combination. Wishing you a fine week ahead. John
ReplyDeleteThe desk is lovely, Connie. I love that blue, and the stencils you added are perfect. The Bible verse is especially meaningful with everything that's going on in the world. Thank you, Connie. xx
ReplyDeleteConnie - I agree with the others your desk is so beautiful & you picked the perfect color. I love the encouragement even more along with the scriptures. It's very comforting & I am your Sister in the Lord as well. With all that is happening it's nice to see that others will share the Word of God. Blessings to you! Susie
