Detour, There's an Antique Shop Ahead

Hello Dear Friends,

There is a lot of road

construction going on in

our town this summer.

So, today while in town

I had to take a short detour.

Do you remember the old song,

"Detour There's A Muddy Road Ahead"

well in my case

there was a little antique shop

on this route that I'd been hearing about,

so of course I had to visit.

I love bowls and this one caught my eye.

This is the design on the outside of the bowl.

And this is the inside pattern.

This is the marking on the bottom.

Look at all the little cracks . . .

why do I love that?

I also purchased this little pitcher

I haven't measured it, but I think

it probably holds a pint.

It's small but much larger than a creamer.

Look at the pattern on the handle,

cool right?

And again the mark on the bottom.

Look close there are more

little cracks . . .

Love those sweet little signs

of aging.

Here it is filled with flowers

from my garden :)

Oh, the lady that owns the shop

was so sweet, we talked for

a while and quickly became friends.

Making a new friend was even

sweeter than finding these

lovely treasures.

Wishing each of you a lovely week,

Try smiling and saying "Hi"

to a stranger . . .

you might make a new friend :)

~~~***~~~
God bless you,
Connie :)
    This wasn't directed at me, but I am going to take it as a compliment! 😄
    Now the important question. Who is Blair?
  4. I love that pink little jug ( is that what is known as transferware?). I have 2 small plates in that pattern and colour.
    As soon as I read the title of today's post that old song popped into my head ( and it's stuck there).
  11. Well, that was a wonderful "detour". I love it when things like that happen out of the ordinary! Lovely bowl and little pitcher. I love cream pitchers, even though I don't really use them for such, I enjoy looking at them and yes, they do make lovely vases. This was delightful.
  14. Oh Connie what a lovely detour! how fun to find the sweet little shop and a sweet friend also! Seems like any friends I have met here in Madras I met by visiting one of the little shops here! That is a reminder to me to GET OUT and about and go visit a couple of new shops we have here! I am a "thing" for little pitchers too... that size is so perfect for so many things, flowers being one. Love the red transferware.. and love your beautiful flowers too! And the bowl... really unique. Hope you are staying cool is this awful heat wave we are having.... hugs.. Marilyn
  16. I love a jug or two, and little bowls, too. Imagine receiving one that says "specially made for you" at the bottom. I must go and visit our local antique shops, it has been years. The little pitcher with your garden flowers is very sweet. Glad you made a new friend, too.
