Welcome to my garden!
This is the
tomato & pepper patch.
It was 105 degrees today,
so I'm hoping it
helps my garden grow.
You can see that I have
tomatoes but they are
still green.
Then I spied these two,
that are starting to turn :)
Peppers
Zucchini
Grapes that still have
a lot of growing to do.
Apricots
The frost got most
of these and then
the birds always
get their share.
I still have a few
for eating, but not many
this year.
I love sunflowers . . .
these all came up on
there own :)
Great for bringing in the bees.
If you're having the
hot weather that we are having
I just want to encourage you to
drink lots of water,
wear a hat and don't
stay out in it, too long.

It's supposed to start cooling off on Monday and by midweek be back in the 80s. Nice summer weather.
DeleteWhat a harvest Connie! My tomatoes are just turning red now, soon there will be almost too many! We grew apricots when we lived in France and they were so good.

DeleteImpressive garden...I especially love those grapes. A late frost zapped all of the blossoms on our fruit trees, so alas.. no apples, peaches, plums, apricots or mulberries this year.
ReplyDeleteOur tomatoes are doing fine, although the hens have decided to raid the tomato garden. We devised a mini picket fence to keep them out... fingers crossed :)

DeleteA home grown tomato or an apricot ...just the thought makes my mouth water. So far we've had a few cherry tomatoes ripen but nothing bigger. Your hot temperatures sound brutal. I don't imagine it cools off much at night.
ReplyDeleteI harvested Summer Savory today. Froze some and also made a pot of green bean soup (which has to have summer savory to taste right to me). It's never too hot to enjoy hot soup.
I had to Google Summer Savory, it's an herb that I've never heard of before.
DeleteMy tomatoes and peppers are just now ripening, too. I have a feeling this will be the week that they'll explode into bloom, as we'll be in the upper 90's - low 100's, too. Your grapes and apricots look amazing! I bet birds probably dropped sunflower seeds and you received a present! :-)

ReplyDeleteYour garden is looking great. Our normal temps this time of year during the day would be 110 and above but because clouds and humidity rolled in several days ago, we are only getting into the high 90s which is crazy for July. August is usually when we can maybe start to think about planting some seeds. I bought a bunch of different packets while in the states in June so am looking forward to getting pots ready for sowing. Stay cool.

ReplyDeleteConnie, your property is delightful. I just love your beautiful vegetable garden, and the cheerful sunflowers, and, of course, the scarecrow. It's all so charming. It must give you so much joy to see it all every day. 108 degrees is unbelievable. Is that common for your area in the summer? It's gotten up to 99 degrees here in Colorado, which is extremely hot for us. However, I would say overall the summer has not been as hot as last year, and we're getting rain, which is sorely needed and has been lacking for quite a few years. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is just beautiful! Once all those tomatoes start turning red you'll have a counter full. How neat and pretty everything is. That huge sunflower! The wind really worked on the one sunflower in my garden...broke most of the limbs. I finally did get a row of sunflower seeds to sprout. Hopefully there will be a few blooming before cold weather. :) I remember when you planted the grapevine on that pretty arbor.

God knows what we need, even if its a sunflower to bring us joy! Our weather was hot as well, but we have turned off rainy! Hugs, sweet friends!
ReplyDeleteOur temps here haven't gotten nearly that hot. We have mostly been in the 80's. Your garden looks fantastic. I wish I would have gotten a tomato plant or two.
ReplyDeleteI love sunflowers too. I used to get small ones under the bird feeder because it was always filled with black oil sunflower seed.
Oh my! It's warm here, but not that kind of heat. Your garden looks great!
ReplyDeleteHi Connie! I missed this post too! I remember the date when you posted this.. I think it was about as hot here too. Our weather many times goes hand in hand and the same temps. We had maybe 2 weeks of those super hot temps.. one day got to 110 I think and I am really tired of it! Your garden is so so beautifuil... it all looks so organized and in nice rows, etc. Wow is all I can say. I know it's alot of work! I know when we have such hot temps, I have to water sometimes twice a day. My cukes and zuchinni especially seem to wilt most.. and I've moved them to where they do get some shade, as they are planted in tubs. Love your tomatoes.. they look so pretty.. and how neat to get apricots! A frost got any blooms on my peach tree this spring, so nothing this year.. but it's a new tree as of last summer. Maybe next year. I remember I even climbed up a ladder and covered it with sheets for a few nights in March (or April?) when it frosted, to try to save the new bugs. It obviously didn't work! It's so satisfying to go out and walk around your own garden! And how wonderful to have grapes! What do you do with them? I used to have a neighbor who had the dark grapes, and I would make juice from them, and then either make jelly or can the juice for drinking. By the time I'm answering this, the heat has calmed down somewhat, but this next week is getting "up there" again! Stay as cool as you can! hugs.. Marilyn
