It's been a few weeks
since my last post . . .
so I thought that I'd better get with it,
before you think I've left
the planet :)
These are photos I took
while walking through
my dear friend
Glorious Gloria's
garden.
I visited in the spring when
her lilies were all in bloom
and forgot to take photos.
I've kicked myself ever since,
because her garden is amazing :)
Of all the photos that I took
this one is my favorite :)
I do love sunflowers!
Well, it's a busy time of the year
for me, harvesting, canning and
of course that not so fun job
of pulling up the garden.
I do it one row at a time
as my veggie quit producing.
These are zucchini loaves
ready for the freezer.

Your friend does indeed have a glorious garden. Your zucchini loaves look so good. I neither grew nor bought any zucchini this summer and I feel I missed out. Jokes are made about how abundant zucchini grows but no one that I know grows any. I'll look at the grocery store. Surely they still have some.

ReplyDeleteThank you for that verse, Connie. So appropriate for the times --from weather to politics, health and so on. The Stronghold is our only hope. thank you for sharing your friend's vibrant flowers. You two must be sister, 'cause your garden is just as pretty. Oh and your sweet sunflowers. The little dears look like they are crying for the end of summer. ;-) I always look forward to your posts. So pretty and encouraging. Love reading what you are up to. And so, as we wade through all of the world's difficulties, let's keep our eyes and our thoughts on our dear Lord Jesus, our only true hope. I'll be thinking of you as I pull up my poor bean vines that did not make it thru this summer's very hot days. BLessings!

It's too negative and depressing and being a highly anxious person as it is, not good for me. Have a beautiful and blessed weekend!

ReplyDeleteyour friends garden is so pretty. I only have a few plants to pick up, but my cherry tomatoes have gone wild so there will be a lot of picking up of that. Enjoy these fall days.
ReplyDeleteGloria's garden is indeed glorious. I love those sunflowers, too! I've been cleaning up my garden bit by bit and pulled out the zucchini plants a couple of days ago. The nights are becoming too cool for them. Still have some tomatoes ripening outdoors, and have planted winter kale and lettuce starters. Enjoy the change of season, dear Connie.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are so beautiful but you know what, the sunflowers are my favorite too. Your friend does grow some amazing flowers. Your zucchini bread looks delicious. I found one last zucchihi in the garden. Think I will make a loaf.
ReplyDeleteYour friend's garden is really spectacular... I love sunflowers too! We are getting our garden beds ready for winter too... pulling up the plants, placing cardboard over the soil and covering it with mulch. I still have beets and carrots growing and a few tomatoes and squash are still producing. but the other beds are done for this year.

ReplyDeleteHi Connie.. came over here to see if you had posted again and YES! You did! The flowers are gorgeous! Does Gloria live near you in the same climate? How did she grow such beautiful flowers in this drought??? There are some I don't even recognize. Didn't recognize the 3rd and 4th photos! Love that flowering succulent. Oh so much work this time of year.. especially for those (like you) with huge gardens! Mine was so puney there's not much I have to do! Just have to pull out the lemon cukes.. they didn't do well at all... and have a few carrots to pull up and a few beets. I see new flowers on my peas! I bet you have been super busy with baking and canning, etc. Those zuchinni loaves look marvelous! I must make a carrot cake when I pull up my carrots.. there's probably just enough for one cake! I'm kind of glad to see things waning as I'm all done in with watering, cutting back, dead heading, pruning, weeding, etc. And that is with me not even doing any canning!! I would still like to get a bunch of apples to make some applesauce for the winter months.. and maybe an apple pie or two. But have been super busy with other things, so it may not happen. ReplyDeleteAmen Connie! I, too, have been absent from blogland, both writing and reading, because life and it's business caught up with us. Lots of doctors, physical therapy and other things to get Mom taken care of at her new home. Plus, still dealing with the remants of her house sale. I have really missed my friends here though and I want and need to connect again.
ReplyDeleteWe have many decisions to make for ourselves too and we're trying to turn it over to God. The world is in such a state right now and it's tempting to pull inside ourselves and protect our families. But, God wants us to continue to try to reach others for Him. We are so blessed my dear friend.
