Pot Holders & Dish Towels

My potholders were getting worn

and stained so it seemed like a great

time to make some new ones.

After making them, I decided

to use the same patterns

and embroider two new

dish towels to match.

I haven't used the embroidery device

on my sewing machine in a very long time.

These patterns were in the memory

of the machine and came with it,

but I have many patterns

that I have purchased, that I am

now having trouble downloading

into my machine.

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

If anyone has an idea

I would greatly appreciate

your input.

I'm wondering if I forgot

how to do it,

or if because of technology

it's all obsolete.

Anyway; I did have fun

taking a break from making gifts

to making something for myself.

🧵🪡🧵🪡🧵

I do enjoy pretty things

in the kitchen:)

Well that's my latest post,

Thanks for stopping by ☺️

  1. Aww, how pretty. And to think you can do that on your sewing machine these days. :) Takes me back to my early days at home with my mother. We hand embroidered a lot of tea towels. It was a good way to keep me entertained, too, because I loved all the cute designs available. And in the pre-dishwasher days, we used a lot of towels.
    Blessed Christmas, Connie.

    1. Thank you Mari and thanks for leaving a comment. I'm going to keep trying, if it worked before it should still work. I hope I can get it figured out.

  3. Those are wonderful. My embroidery machine quit working years ago and I never took it in to have it looked at. I wouldn't even remember how to use it now.

    1. Well I got one foot in the boat and one foot out of the boat when it comes to knowing how to use mine, LOL. I sure wish I could figure out how to download the ones that I've purchased in the past, but I'm going to keep trying.

    1. Well, you know we have more friends and family popping into the kitchen during the holidays, so it's nice to have new stainless towels and pot holders out :)

  6. Oh Connie, You may not have a green thumb when it comes to house plants but you can sew and quilt and you have other gifts. Actually they are more practical gifts. I hope you find someone who knows how to get the new patterns to work. There MUST be someone!!! Meanwhile I think the new pot holders are so lovely!

    1. Thanks . . . My old pot holders were probably at least 8 years old, LOL and starting to look pretty shabby.

  8. These are absolutely wonderful! I love the "tea time with Connie". I wish I knew how to help you with your machine, but I'm clueless. I don't even sew! ;-) Could you possibly Google the problem and see if you can find a solution?

    1. I've been all over You Tube and there's solutions for every problem except the one I'm having. Isn't that how it goes sometimes? I'm not giving up. Thank you for your sweet comment.

  9. I know nothing about the machine as my little cheap Singer doesn't hardly do the basics without breaking a needle, so I rarely sew anything. I LOVE your pot holders and tea towels. I think you could sell those! (I would buy them! They are wonderful!).

    1. These would be great beginner projects. I really enjoy making things for my home because I can coordinate patterns and colors and get exactly what I'm looking for. I'm excited for your new adventure and sewing I hope you love it as much as I do.

  11. Connie, they're wonderful. So charming. I know nothing about such fancy highfalutin gadgets, but hopefully someone will help you figure it out. It looks like it'll be worth it!

    1. Thank you. During the cold months of the year I have much more time to play around with sewing and crafts. I figure that if the weather is bad, just direct playtime to inside :)

  12. They are so beautiful. I used to hand embroider tea towels all of the time for gifts but it doesn't seem that many people besides me use them. I really like how you personalized them. I would have no advice on downloading the new patterns. My sewing machine was bought 47 years ago this month! It's a Sears Kenmore. A basic machine that still works great.

    1. Hi Betsy, I just bought some embroidery threads today. Not sure what I'm going to do with them, but I enjoy hand embroidery too. Machine is nice but it doesn't come close to the love put into hand stitched.

  13. I LOVE your potholders! The colors are so pretty! And the dish towels are darling too. What cute embroidery! It could b, if you haven't used it for awhile, that things have been "upgraded" (software), etc. and so everything is different! I just got a new little Cricut cutting machine, and I used their software "Design Space" maybe a year ago, but now it all looks totally different! I'm having a heck of a time even finding the home page on their darned site! Really maddening. I had to go watch a newer video so that they were using the newer software. Things change so often in this technical world, supposedly to make it easiser, but it's usually just more complicated! Maybe you'll get it figured out... hope so. It's nice to sometimes do things for ourselves.. that's for sure. I notice my OWN kitchen towels and potholders have seen better days. Same with my own crocheted things. I make stuff for everyone else, but not for me! Have a good week! xoxo Marilyn (Pink Paper Cottage) I still need to figure out how to make me not be anonymous!

    1. Hi Marilyn thanks for your kind comments. As for you showing up as anonymous I don't understand what's going on. It was doing that with me for a while when I commented on people's post but I think it's been fixed. Blogger is another thing that they "new and improved" so many times and it's nothing as good as it used to be. I'm a firm believer and if it's not broke don't fix it.

  15. They look fantastic and like how you are able to add names to it too :) Bummer you can't figure out how to download them, do you think there are any tutorials on Youtube on how to do it, or on the site of the machine you have, good luck!
