Sewing Machine Cover

Today I decided to make myself a little present.
I have been needing a cover for my sewing machine . . .
so today seemed like a great time to make one:)

I quilted the fabric to give it stability.
This is the sides and top.

These two pieces are for the front and back.
Then I cut pink polka dot binding
to sew my pieces together.

Here it is finished :)

Spring is coming so the more time that I spend gardening,
the less time I'll spend sewing.
Hopefully this will keep any dust out
of my machine :)

Oh, I sent off an order for garden seed today.
I know that it is early,
but I am so excited for spring

and I'm looking
forward to starting seeds out in my little potting shed.

I hope that all of you are enjoying your day.
Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  1. Just visiting from Thrifting My Home after seeing her beautiful gifts from you... you are quite the talented gal, sure do love your art barn, wow! And the sewing machine cover is darling! I probably could use one of those for my machine, much prettier than the plastic one that came with the machine! I have just dusted off my sewing machine and sewed for the first time in years. It felt great! But yes, spring is coming, and I too would much rather be in the garden than anywhere else :) Enjoyed my visit here today! :)

    1. I love being outside. Last week we had one warm and sunny day and I spend hours outside. Now we are back to cold, grey and rainy, but spring is right around the corner. Thanks so much for stopping by. I love meeting new blogging sisters.

    1. Yesterday I noticed my seed order setting on the desk in the computer room. It had been setting there for a couple weeks . . . so it was time to get it in the mail. I'm very excited about spring and getting by hands in the dirt. Thank you for the sweet compliment on my sewing machine cover :)

  3. Oh, my! I love it when you do lots of crafts to show us! I have a metal cover for my machine but yours is so adorable!!! Not sure if I will start some seeds under my gro lights this year or not. I don't seem to do well hardening them off and getting them out in the garden okay. The nearer it gets I will probably get the "itch" to do it though. Exciting to be ordering your seeds! Nancy

    1. Hi Nancy, I am getting antsy for Spring . . . just to feel the sunshine on my back, to get my hands dirty, and to get out of the house. I have had a wonderful winter working out in my art barn . . . it is a nice place to chase away those winter blues, LOL. I am delighted that you like my sewing machine cover. Watch your mail, I sent you something over a week ago.

  4. Hello Connie,
I'm coming over from Sherry's blog, Thrift My House, where I just saw the sweet gift you sent her. Love the banner and cute apron! Blogging friends are the best, I do believe! Anyway, it's a pleasure to "meet" you. Your sewing machine cover is beautiful. And I'm curious as to what you'll be growing. Our weather has been crazy - cold one day, warm the next...I don't know if we're going to get any freezes so I'm holding off on my gardening.
    Hugs,
    Cecilia

    1. They say that the middle of May is the earliest that we should plant outside in our area, but now with the potting shed I will be able to kick start my Spring planting. This will be my first year to do this . . . it is exciting. It seems that when warm weather hits, I get so busy. This April will be our second year annivery in our new (old) home. New bought an old fixer upper on an acre of land and it has been a steady work in progress. I love meeting new blogging sisters and making new friends . . . Welcome to my little corner of the world :)

Also like your cute garden/potting shed. Mine is a big mess but plans are underway to redo it and make it a lot nicer.

    1. I have always thought that starting my own plants from seed would be fun and now that we have the space for gardening I can not wait to get started. This will be my first year with the potting shed. My sweet husband built it for me as a lean-to off the shed last September. Thank you for your kind words about my sewing machine cover :)

  7. Connie- I think that is the cutest machine cover I have ever seen. You did a wonderful job and I love your choice of fabrics. I am moving my machine onto this floor tomorrow so I can get some sewing in while hubby is resting and recovering. Trying to get a few blog visits in tonight while hubby is feeling good. xo Diana

    1. Dear Diana, it sounds like you are home and that is a good thing. Keeping your life active with projects, and family and all the normal routine things is probably the best way for hubby to get feeling better. Keeping a positive attitude can be a major factor in healing. It is great to see you back blogging and thank you for your sweet compliment on my little sewing machine cover :)

    1. Hi Connie, I have always bought my seeds at places like Home Depot, but not knowing whether they are hybrid or not, makes it hard to know whether they are worth saving for the next year. This year I am ordering only from places that sell sustainable seeds. I would like to be able to save them each year and to become more self-sufficient in my gardening. We'll see how that goes, but it sure sounds good, LOL. I am delighted that you like my sewing machine cover, thank you :)

  15. That turned out cute! And, it's such a great idea. One of my machines doesn't have a case. So, now, I'm thinking I should make a cover for mine! :-)

    1. Thank you :) I have another machine to make another cover for. I have been noticing dust getting into the machine . . . I dismantled parts of mine and took a soft paint brush and dusted it out, but with all the computerized portions I was afraid to dismantle very much of it. I think that machines that are covered when not being used will have a few more years life to them in the long run. I have a hard cover for one of them, but it takes up room when it is off. I would rather put it up somewhere and have a soft one that I can fold up when I'm sewing. Thanks for stopping by to visit . . . I love company and my welcome mat is always out :)

    1. Hi Melanie, I'm excited about starting my own plants . . . this will be my first time at doing this, so, fingers crossed, LOL. I've always been fairly good with outdoor plants, but with indoor plants I'm a disaster. I think that they can tell and just die at the sight of me. Having those big windows and lots of sunshine should really help. That and the fact that I'm reading every article I come across . . . some of them contradict each other, so, time will tell :)

Yes, Spring is not far off, and I look forward to seeing your springtime endeavors! I enjoy everything you do no matter what season it is though!

Today, here in North Texas, it's 75 as I type this. We have two more days like this ahead of us, and then we go back to colder weather. We have not seen any snow this year, and I'm hoping for some in February! Do you have any that you could send to me? LOL

Have a beautiful and blessed day my friend,

    1. We had more snow this year than most, but right now it is melted, the only place you see any is in shaded areas that the sun hasn't kissed yet. We needed it after our dry hot season last year. It is sunny today, but cold . . . then again it's only January. Mostly we have been having rain and grey skies, so this sunshine is a welcoming sight. I am so happy that you like my sewing machine cover . . . it was fun to make :)
Have a happy weekend and thanks so much for stopping by.

  23. I think your sewing machine cover is lovely. Mine just sits out in the open, in the basement, getting all damp and dusty. I hope I don't have to get a new one (wink wink!) Your potting shed looks great! I can't wait to see your little plants sprouting up. Please show pictures.
And Now I must reply to a comment you left on my blog awhile back. I might have replied on the blog, I'm not sure, but when you said you used to live in Logansport!!!! DId we talk about this before? Because I was BORN in Logansport and lived there until I was five. However, I spent every weekend there growing up because my parents, who each have six siblings, were from Logansport! And we spent a lot of time playing with our cousins while our parents visited all the time. It's why I'm so close to my cousins. AND I WANT TO RE-VAMP THAT TOWN IN THE WORST WAY!!! I am going to have to stop, but I don't want to.......

    I could go on.........

    But I won't.....

    1. I lived there when my first son was born in 1963. We rented a small studio apartment above and old house on the edge of town. The owners of the house (who lived downstairs in the house) had a little cafe next door called The Copper Kettle. Does that right any bells?
      Wishing you a happy weekend.
