Dreaming Of Spring

I'm dreaming of Spring . . .
this photo was taken two years ago when we bought
our home, in April 2014.
So this is one of the beautiful sights I'm longing for :)

 but, while I am waiting . . .
yesterday I spied these tulips
popping through the ground.

 and these leaves sprouting
on the lilac brushes.
How exciting!
 I've sent off an order for seeds.
They haven't arrived yet, but I'm
getting the potting shed ready.

 This will be my first year to have the shed
and to start my own plants.
I can hardly wait to get out there
and get my hands dirty.
I still have at least six weeks before I can start,
but I can dream and plan :)

 We had snow last week . . .
it has melted but this time of the year
we could always have more.
I'm enjoying the sun when it comes out.
Most of our days have been grey and cloudy.

  Inside, I'm thinking Spring, too!

and made these for a sweet friend.

~~~~~***~~~~~
Well, that's my post for today . . .
are you doing anything to get ready for
Spring?
Keep Smiling!
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
I'm having fun planning and getting ready. Once I start gardening, I'm sure that sewing projects will be put on hold :)
      I am delighted that you like the dish towels. I figure they are something everyone can use.
    1. Hi Kelly, To tell you the truth I have no idea where South Africa is compared to the equator, so I'm not sure what seasons you have. I mean the degree of differences in temperature throughout the year. We definitely have four season here. Cold, warm to very warm, hot, and warm again :) I've never had the room to have a garden until two years ago, when we bought this place in the country . . . now that I have the space I absolutely love getting my hands dirty and watching the garden grow and change throughout the season. I have had so many squash and cucumbers in my garden that I have put boxes out by the road for passers to take home with them. That's fun too :)
  8. Hi Connie, Looking forward to warmer weather here also! Prayers would be appreciated for hubby. He has a pinched nerve and is in so much pain but can't get a shot until March 4th. An anesthesiologist has to do it and that is the soonest he can get an appointment. So I am trying to do double duty here. I love those towels. Did you do that on the embroidery machine? They are so cute. Dream on about gardening!!! Nancy
    1. Hi Nancy, he will be in my prayers . . . I can't see why they wouldn't send him somewhere else where he could get the shot. They should care more about him being out of pain, than who is around to do the shot and who isn't. I get a little bit ticked when the lawyers and doctors on TV are always so good and on the ball; when in real life they don't seem to care, much more than collecting their pay. Sorry, but I have a sore spot for doctors and the whole insurance vs goverment thing with health care. You don't even want to get me started.
  11. Well Connie, I read this post earlier today and left a comment...or at least I thought I left a comment. Maybe I didn't hit publish. :) I am dreaming of spring and warm days too. I just love your little potting shed. You must be so excited about using it for the first time. I just love the way the sun shines in. It looks so warm and cozy.
    1. I am very excited about useing it. We built the shed last fall. The framework and the planting tables are new wood, but the windows were all salvaged from our new window project on the house. I still have old Windows left to use in craft projects. Waste not want not. Thanks so much for visiting, I enjoy reading your blog and the comments that you leave here.
    1. Thank you! It has been so cold here and most of our days are cloudy, but we have been getting a lot of snow and rain this winter which is so good for our desert soil. I'm looking forward to using my potting shed and to having a garden again this year. I get so much more exercise in the warm seasons and I eat so much better when the garden is producing fresh eats. I get off track with good health habits in the cold months . . . I'm so ready for Spring :)
  18. Connie the weather is beautiful this week and I'm so excited. I have to work though so I can't putter in the yard until Sunday. I don't know if I've ever told you but I'm a farmer and we grow produce and are going to start growing flowers for Fall. I'm so excited and nervous. Your greenhouse is great. Can't wait to see what you have planted.
    1. Hi Valerie, I just received my seed order today, but it is still too soon to plant. Last winter we had a bad storm with 70 mile an hour winds, they destroyed some of our fencing and even turned over and broke some of our above ground beds. Therefore; I have a lot of work to do to get everything ready . . . in a way it is good, because i've decided to move my beds all over to the second garden area and put in a drip system. That should save a lot of work during the summer. We live in a desert area with hot dry summers, so I was watering all the time.
    1. Hi Sheri, I have been enjoying reading your comments and I am so happy that you popped in today to say hi. Last winter we had a 70 mile a hour wind blow through here. It took a big portion of our fence out and turned over and broke some of my above ground garden boxes. It split 2 X 4's right in half. So, I'm rebuilding them and moving them to a different place, where I will be able to set up a drip system on them. Lots of work, but it is so nice to be outside. We were lucky, because it took out three of our neighbor's 40 year old blue spruce. It's still cold here at night and we wake to heavy frost but the sun is shining and it feels good to get out in the fresh air. Have a wonderful week, by friend.
