Our Memorial Day was a simple one.
We sat out on the porch in the afternoon
and watched the farmers across the road
bale their hay.
This is our view.
See the weeds growing in the ditch.
Here's a closer look.
I left the sink full of dishes,
I didn't do much of anything . . .
except relax.
I even took time to see the
beauty in the wild weeds :)
I love watching them harvest the hay.
What is more "Country Living" than that?
We have so much to be thankful for.
One being the brave men and women that
fight for our freedom.
They will always be remembered
and held in high esteem.
God Bless them all . . .
Past & Present.
Have a great day!
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
I actually happen to like your view, peace and tranquility, thats what it says to me and I thank you for sharing it. I live in busy San Francisco. Spent alot of summers in the country with a aunt and uncle and I miss those days. Happy memorial day, with love Janice
ReplyDeleteHi Janice, I am delighted if I could bring back some of your happy memories with your aunt and uncle . . . country living is sweet :)
DeleteGorgeous view! Sounds like a perfect day to me!
ReplyDeleteIt was a nice day and even though the hay was baled yesterday, the smell of new mowed hay was in the air this morning as I woke. It is such a sweet smell :)
Deletesounds like a perfect way to spend the weekend. That's some great view you have too
ReplyDeleteI love our hay field view :)
DeleteSuch a beautiful view, you are certainly blessed. Sounds like a great day. Take care.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely view . . . there is talk of someday having lots for sale where that hay field is, but I hope it is not in my lifetime :)
DeleteGlad you had a good relaxing day, pretty pics of the wildflowers/weeds, they can be so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHi Connie, it is amazing the beauty we see when we stop and truly look closely at things. Even weeds become flowers :)
DeleteLove your porch, love your view! We all need to sit on the porch, more!
ReplyDeleteYes we do :) Thanks for stopping by and paying me a visit, I love company . . . wish we could sit on the porch and sip ice tea and chat.
DeleteLove your part of the world Connie! It's good to switch our minds off, unwind and relax.
ReplyDeleteYes it is, we all need to do that now and again :)
DeleteWhat a peaceful, relaxing day! Your view is wonderful. So much better than sitting on the porch, staring at neighbor's houses!
ReplyDeleteWe had the view of our neighbor's houses for thirty-three years and yes we like this much better :)
DeleteYou have a lovely view, your photo's show it so well.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a relaxing day.
I hope the rest of the week is relaxing too.
All the best Jan
I have spent the last two mornings pulling weeds and hoeing in the garden, but believe me or not, I find that relaxing, too :)
DeleteSometimes it's important to leave the housework and go outside and enjoy SUMMER.
ReplyDeleteI remember driving the tractor with the baler behind. I enjoyed that. Those were simpler days with much less sophisticated equipment.
While we were sitting on the porch our conversation went in the direction of how much farm equipment has changed in the last fifty years. It's pretty amazing. I would love to find an old tractor, not that we need one on our little property, but it would be nice to plow the driveway when we have a snowy year.
DeleteWhat a wonderful way to spend the day Connie! There is so much beauty in the simple things in life, like baling hay. I too can see beauty in weeds, as long as they're not in my flower beds. lol! We all need a day like this now and then.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
I agree! I would not have thought these weeds were pretty if they had been in my yard, but because they were in the ditch across the road it was another story, LOL.
DeleteConnie, You live the perfect life in the perfect house in the perfect location.....The best part is you write it so we are right there with you sitting on the front porch smelling freshly cut hay! thank you for your continued support and words of encouragement on my Polka Dot Flea endeavor.
ReplyDeleteXXOO CArol
Hi Carol, I believe that it is not a matter of latitude but of attitude. We can all live a perfect life if we stop and realize that the Lord put us right here where we are. It's like that one phase, "Bloom where you are planted". I have to say, I love our new (old) country home and to us it is perfect; we would not chance a thing. You, young lady are someone that I totally admire and your Polka Dot Flea is a delight. I wish that I could be there, but I will certainly be waiting for your blog posts. You are the best!!!
DeleteWhat a sweet post Connie! You love your country life as much as I lovw mine. I have missed blogging so much but I just put up a post this evening. I hope to have a little more time this summer. I hope you are doing well my friend. It was good catching up with you! Have a blessed rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Vicky
Hi Vicky, it is always a pleasure when you stop by. I have friends that are teachers and other that work for the school district and I know that you are all so busy at the ending of the school year. I'm sure you are getting as excited about summer vacation as the kids are :) Happy Summer!
DeleteI love your red and white porch! It is so fun looking. I'm glad you took the time to relax even though you had dishes in the sink. We should all take a lesson! Happy Memorial Day a bit late, and yes, we are free because of our brave men and women and I thank them.
ReplyDeleteCindy Bee
Hi Cindy, thanks for stopping by to say, "hi!" I love my front porch, especially when I take time out to sit out there and enjoy it :) That sink full of dishes didn't go anywhere . . . they were happy to get washed whenever I decided, LOL.
DeleteSuch a peaceful and beautiful view, it is good to just stop and appreciate the beauty around you xxxx
ReplyDeleteWe cannot believe how much we love living here . . . it has been a blessing.
DeleteAnd what a view you have!!! I would love to sit on your porch and watch them bale hay! I'll take some iced tea with that :) Glad you had a good holiday weekend!
ReplyDeleteWatching them bale hay, seems like such a simple way to send a few hours, but it is so peaceful. The longer we live here, the more we love it :)
