Stop & Smell The Roses

I have been so busy around here cleaning up
the neglected area behind my garden boxes,
that until I mowed the lawn Friday,
I hadn't noticed my beautiful roses.
So, it's time to slow down for the weekend.
And enjoy the blessings all around me.
Aren't these lovely :)
I hope that all of you took a little
time off to enjoy the simple things in life,
and that you had a pleasant weekend.

Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

    1. Hi Angela, thanks for visiting. I can not remember the name of that flower, I purchased them two years ago on a discount rack at Lowes.

    1. Oh, I hope it doesn't rain again on them . . . It is fun adding new plants to our landscape. This place was pretty barren when we moved here two years ago. My goal is to change that and if I can make it half as pretty as your garden, I will be a happy camper :)

  6. Beautiful, beautiful roses! Sometimes when I am working in the yard I think about that saying...stop and smell the roses. Most of the time I just work and forget to look around and enjoy. Thanks!

    1. Hi Henny, I think we all do that. My girlfriend and I have been walking and one day we decided to walk downtown. We were passing this whimsical bike art and I said that I bet travelers in our town stop and take their photo with it, but we just walk on by. Sometime we just really need to stop right where we are and look around us. There are interesting and beautiful things everywhere if we take the time to open our eye, LOL.

    1. Hi Ann, Peonies have got to be one of my favorites. I have been trying to think of the best place to plant some. Are yours in the sun, shade or part shade. We get very hot summers. It hit 100 yesterday and is suppose to reach 101 today and summer doesn't start for two more weeks.

    1. Hi Jann, last year I came across this king size tee shirt sheet with cherries, at the Goodwill. I think I paid 2 or 3 dollars for it. I was able to cover the back cushion on both of my porch gliders. I love them too and hope they hold up for a few years. My roses are small and not giving me lots of blooms, but the oldest rose that I have is two years old, so someday they will be nice like yours, which I think are gorgeous.

    1. Hi Fran, I've never grown roses before moving here. Therefore; my rose bushes are small, the oldest being two years, but they will grow. This property was so barren other than trees and the lilac bushes, so I am excited everything I dig and plant something new.

  13. They are lovely, we have a rose bush on the side of the house and I will have to say about the only time I look at it is when I am using the weeder along the house, so about once a week....

    1. We are all guilty of that. It's a fast paced world, we all need to learn to slow down. I am in the process of trying to learn it myself :)

  15. So pretty! You can't beat fresh flowers in a mason jar! Hopefully things are slowing down around here. I hope to have a relaxing summer with my family. Maybe take a few day beach trips, nothing major.
