ReplyDeleteYou're so sweet . . . I know that I've said that before, too, but it is so true :) This was a fun quilt to make. I didn't start quilting until after my youngest granddaughter was around five years old, so they have quilts, but no baby quilts made by grandma. I made them each one about two or three years ago, so it's about time to make them each another. I am so happy that you like this one :)

DeleteWhat a sweet quilt. I love the colors. I have begun asking new moms what colors they want because it seem more and more they don't want pastel or pinks and blues. The vintage fabrics are wonderful in your quilt and the growth chart is a very smart gift.

Hi Betsy, thank you on both counts. I just heard that the baby was born yesterday and next weekend they are having a family barbecue, so I'll take quilt and grow chart then. Another little member of the family . . . a blessing of the best kind :)

ReplyDeleteThe center is four squares pieced from paper doll print and then the strips are from vintage styled Moda jelly rolls. I'm becoming quite enchanted with jelly rolls; they are a simple way to add many prints to a piece :)

ReplyDeleteThank you . . . one of the nicest things about making "quilt as you go" quilts is that you can plan on a pretty pieced back as well as the front. I like the reversed look, too:)

Good job on the quilt.. I loved paper dolls when I was young.. we didn't have much but I had a few of them and they gave me great joy. What a good aunt you are! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteI loved paper dolls too . . . I used to love putting the dolls up to the window and using it like a light-box, so I could design my own clothes and be sure they fit properly :)

These colors remind me of childhood and books like Dick and Jane. They were always filled with happy primary colors :)
DeleteI LOVE the colours that you used for this quilt ... very vintage vibe there! And those centre blocks with "paper dolls" is so cute (I used to play with paper dolls as a child). I'm sure Riley's mom will love it too since it's not pink. You are a real sweetheart to make this for your great great niece.

DeleteDarling quilt! I'm so glad I found your blog as I'm enjoying it so much! The colors are so fun and cheerful. I love to sew and quilt too, but quilting has kind of taken back seat the last few years, to paper crafting! I love them both, but working with paper is much more instant gratification! I have too many UFO's!!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about UFO's . . . I have put a lot of projects on the shelf that I need to get down and finish. I used to do a lot of paper crafting, cards mostly, and really enjoyed it. We are opposites in that way, because now I do more sewing and quilting :) I've always needed a few 36 hour days, each week. LOL
DeleteLOL...... I've sewed since I was 8 years old... started quilting when I was probably about 30 and made tons of quilted pillows.... wall hangings, table runners, small things. I'm going to get back to the sewing and quilting, though I do love the paper crafting too. Instant gratification! I LOVE your Art Barn and how it's all decorated.. it's so cozy and fun! How wonderful to have your own little piece of Heaven.. although your entire acre is a piece of Heaven!
