Sidetracked Sewing & The Mystery Board

It all started with this.
I have had this little half yard of fabric
in my stash for a couple of years now.

I also had this embroidery pattern.
So while I went out with the intention of
cleaning my Art Barn & quilting on the baby quilt. . .

I started sewing instead, LOL

I'll just bet we have all gotten ourselves
sidetracked like this a few times :)

 After my morning sewing spree,
I had these three items made for the motor home.

Pillowcase

Pot Holder

& Dishtowel.

This wasn't my intention . . .
but I can always clean tomorrow, LOL.

Remember the Mystery Board from my last post . . .
Here it is finished and ready to hang
in the new baby's room,
but before I give them this
I want to add the baby's height at birth.
Then it will truly be finished.

Have A Happy Weekend
 &
Keep Smiling.

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

    1. We had a door jam with our daughter's heights recorded on it. When we moved and sold the house I had to paint over it. I wish that I would have thought of this when she was a baby, because it would be nice to still have it. I could add her two daughter's to it and compare their ages and heights with their Mama's.

  3. Your camping cloths are so cute, Connie. Sometimes we just need to do what strikes us at the moment!
I love the ruler idea. I'm sure the parents will love it.

  4. Perfect patterned fabric to make cute camper items. Cleaning always needs to be done again and again but things you sew are more permanent.

    1. Very true . . . I fell in love with that fabric two years ago when I purchased it . . . I wonder why it took me so long to make anything with it. I've just been inspired to jazz up the old motor-home lately :)

    1. I'm delighted that you like these . . . very easy to do. I started with a store bought pillowcase and dishtowel and just added boarders to them.

  6. Sidetrack is my middle name! Love the idea of the measuring stick for the baby. They can always take it with them where ever they move in life and it won't get painted over like the door jams do. Nice use of stashed fabric. Have a fun weekend.

    1. I know, I wished that I would have thought to make a board instead of using a door jam with our daughter.

    1. Good Morning Betty and thank you so much . . . yes it is so easy to get sidetracked from one job to another. My memory is getting so bad that I sometimes get sidetracked because I don't remember what I came into a room to do, LOL.

    1. Hi Vicky, my Saturday has been very nice. My neighbor came over and surprised me with a new birdhouse to go along the fence. I got some sewing done and set some sprinklers and even took a nap :)

  14. This is lovely, Connie! I have to admit to being the greatest side-tracker in the world, and it's nice to know there are others, and with such lovely results too! You are soooo creative!

Thanks for your lovely comment, and I am so glad you enjoyed your virtual ramble through our local woods! We are thrilled to have discovered such a beautiful place so near to where we live. I can't wait to go back there. Our corner of the world is just so beautiful and we have so much variety, with woodland, the moors, farmland, rivers and last but not least, the sea, and some of the most beautiful coastline. I'd hate to live anywhere else.

Have a great weekend. I am enjoying mine, with the arrival of my new MacBook.

    1. Hi Shoshi, We have to travel about two hours east, west, and north of us to find forest to hike through and three hours to the south . . . so I enjoy the serenity of the forest very much. When I was a child I played in the woods all the time. Climbing trees, discovering new paths to take and sometimes just sitting very still and watching the birds and squirrels. I miss that, but have found a beauty in your desert, too :)

    1. Sidetracking adventures can be some of the best, even if they don't produce crafty items. I think anytime we take different route than the one we planned or from our normal day to day routines . . . we discover newness and freshness in life. Cleaning can always be done tomorrow as long as we don't let too many tomorrows slide by, LOL. That's when some old friend pulls up in the driveway and you know they are thinking, "What happened, she always used to keep such a clean and tidy home". Have you never had that happen? Sometimes as much as a 15 minute warning can give us enough time to run through and make things tidy enough for a guest. I hope that you are having a happy weekend and thanks for stopping by to visit.

    1. Hi Betsy, I took those out and put them in the camper, then I told my husband that the pot holder and tea towel are not to be used, LOL. I have a bunch of old ones in a drawer . . . they are our camp cooking items and the new ones are for cutest, LOL. Pot holder especially come home pretty dirty when you are cooking on a campfire and we like to do dutch oven cooking. I only use the kitchen for raining days and baking. I'm fortunate in having a husband that loves cooking on a campfire.

  23. If that's not the perfect fabric to make cute things for your camper, I don't know what is! You are so sweet to make that beautiful quilt and measuring stick for your BIL's great-grandchild on the way. I think handmade gifts are always the best gift and I know you make yours with a lot of love, too.
