Autumn Mantel

~~~~*****~~~~
I know that I'm behind
in my seasonal decorating . . .
so tonight I pulled a few things from storage . . .
 added the gift of feathers
(from Sherry at Thrift My House)
in my old pitcher,
and this painting from my
brother and sister-in-law.
We have so much to be grateful for
and although Thanksgiving Day
is next month . . .
this is my mantel for the Autumn season.
~~~~*****~~~~
I am truly blessed.

Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  1. Connie, I love your white mantle. I really want to paint my whole fireplace white and you've inspired me to do it.

    1. It is nice to make a change. Ours had a stone mantel piece and my husband built the white one to fit right over the stone one. I think it added to the cottage look of our little 1905 home. One of it's owners back in the 1970's built the fireplace. It is beautiful but not the era of the rest of the house :)

  3. Your mantel is gorgeous.. I don't think you're late doing it at all.. some don't do it at all so there's not timeline. I think it looks very fall-ish and homey. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

    1. Last night we had the candles going and the fireplace lit . . . it was very cozy. Then this morning we woke to frost on the ground, time to start winterizing :)

  5. Your mantel looks great. I like the way you hung the wreath and then put an assortment of gourds in a tray on the hearth. You are definitely ready for Fall and Thanksgiving.

    1. I'll be keeping that mantel until the weekend after Thanksgiving. That's when we put up our tree. My sweet husband loves Thanksgiving and Christmas . . . he's still a boy at heart around the holidays :)

  8. It looks wonderful and cozy. I love that picture! and love the wreath.. and love that it is a white mantel... ours is dark brown against the brick, like yours, and I'm inspired to paint it white. It's narrower too, but one day we'll put a wider mantel there for all the decorations and pretties for each season. My mind is spinning... hum.m.m.m. how can I somehow temporarily make our mantel wider?? :-) Have a nice week.... Marilyn

    1. Hi Marilyn, If you have the time, go back to my post last fall on 11-24-15. The title is New Mantel and you can see what my Steve did and how he did it :) It might give you an idea.

    1. Thank you so much. It was a gift from my brother to our mother and then because he also bought one for himself when he bought hers, he gifted me with mama's. I love it, too :)

  16. What gorgeous rich autumnal colours, Connie, and what a splendid idea to decorate your mantelpiece like that. I sometimes wish we had something like Thanksgiving here in the UK - such a lovely festival! Thank you for your lovely comment and I'm glad you had a good harvest of beetroot - I love them fresh and am really glad they are in season again. I'm glad you like my Zentangles!

    1. It was hard for me to get into the mood to decorate this season. I think I am still wanting to hang on to warm weather. I love being outside and soon the cold winter winds will blow :)

    1. We don't have an abundance of trees and fall color around here, so using silk leaves and decorations can help bring that beautiful fall color into our homes. I was raised in Indiana and I miss the fall color there. Last weekend we drove through the desert and the fall color there was beautiful, too. The sage and the tumble weeds take on a new color for fall . . . I was so mad at myself for not taking my camera with me.
