Baby It's Cold Outside

Sunday Afternoon.
I didn't want to go anywhere,
but I needed a little fresh air.

So I grabbed my camera
and walked around the yard.

 Come walk with me.

Oops the tarp came off the boat.

Anyone want to swing?

Here's one of the wood piles.

We could build a fire and roast marshmallows :)

I love the look of birdhouses piled with snow.

They are just waiting for spring renters to fly in:)

The garden is sleeping :)
When I spied the steer head
with snow on his horns . . .
I thought I should have hung a wreath
from one of them.
Maybe next year.

This is our backdoor by the driveway gate.
The front, from the neighbors fence.
I saw this hanging by their back door;
I'm happy they liked it :)

Last but by no means least . . .
by beloved Art Barn :)

Garden boots still hanging on the fence.
Having the flu set me back and there
are a lot of things that didn't get
put away for winter.

It's okay . . . the pipes got wrapped
and all the important things are done.

If you are still here . . .
Thanks for hanging in there and walking with me.

Happy Holidays!
&
Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  1. Hi Connie, I love a walk in the snow! And I am crazy enough to roast marshmallows that for sure! Everything looks magical with a blanket of snow, I am a northern girl of New England so seeing the snow has put a big smile on my face. Thanks for the walk and Happy Holidays to you and your family! 2. What a fun walk! Those birdhouses would make a beautiful Christmas card. We don't live on an acreage but we have the snow too. I sure enjoy looking at it, but not the shoveling part. :-)

    1. There's something about birdhouses in the winter . . . they look like a cozy little place to get out of the weather. Well, if I were a bird or a squirrel. :)

    1. We have been getting some pretty cold weather. Poor Butchy, his belly is so close to the ground that he can't go outside to go potty without having it in the snow. It doesn't seem to bother him now, but the first couple of time he when out, he was not a happy pup, LOL.

  6. You certainly took us on a lovely walk in the snow, the first this season. No snow here as yet and none predicted so far. It was lovely to see the art barn with the beautiful wreath and bike. Take care.

    1. Hi Susie, I am staying home, the roads are icy and not good for driving. That's what is so nice about retirement. Then the weather is bad you don't have to go anywhere :) I just finished my cowgirl quilt about 30 minutes ago. Now, I'm puttering around in the barn and cleaning up. I like to clean between projects, but I confess that is not always the case :)

    1. Thank you so much. The roads are icy so I didn't want to go to town, but needed to get out and get some fresh air. It was fun walking around with the camera. I think that is what's called taking time to smell the roses :)

  10. There is always something special about the first snow of the season. It makes everything look so fresh and new. The best part is coming back inside and snuggling up with a warm cup of tea or cocoa. Bliss!

    1. You are right, snow makes everything look so magical and it absorbs sound, so everything seems so still and peaceful. That is until the cars go by on the road at faster than the fast summer time speed . . . the first morning we had a car in the ditch between the road and the alfalfa field across from our house.

  11. PS: Red birdhouses with green roofs covered with snow, you couldn't have planned a more perfect picture of the Christmas season. :)

    1. Thank you for reminding me of that . . . when I decided to paint them all red trimmed in green, I was thinking it looked country. Then I had the thought about how perfect they would be at Christmas. Here I was taking photos and had forgot to enjoy the fact that they are all decked out for the holidays :)

    1. I remember the year that I was in seventh grade we lived in Tucson, Arizona. We could drive up to Mount Lemon if we wanted to play in the snow and then go back to the trailer park where we lived and swim in the pool :) It also happen that, that particular year they got snow in Tucson, but it only lasted a couple of days. That was the winter of 1958//1959. I'm an old women, LOL. It did make for a perfect winter :)

Everything is so pretty with a coating of snow. I think my favorite picture is the tire swing!

    1. I'm delighted you like the birdhouses . . . they are a lot of fun. As for the barn it is one big 14 X 24 foot room and gives me lots of space . . . it's a wonderful spot to create and spread out a project :)

  16. What a nice walk! Love the birdhouses and love seeing snow on a fence, a gate, the birdhouses and all things country! I used to do that when I had 5 acres up in SW Washington.... love walking around my sister's property in La Pine as she has an acre and SO MANY little birdhouses, wagon wheels, fences, wagons, garden art, etc. Now that I live in town though, it's just not as much fun (with the camera). Your Art Barn looks so neat and cozy there in the snow!

    1. Last spring I put one of those electric fireplaces in the barn. It was one that we had in our living room at our other house and was just stuck in the corner of our little office room here, not being used. I scooted it to the porch and then onto the cart that I pull behind the garden tractor and off to the barn. So, this winter I am enjoying having it going out there. It puts out heat, but most of all it adds so much coziness. It makes the little barn so homey:)

  17. I still have a pumpkin sitting out on a garden bench. ;-) I figure the squirrels will probably eat it, so I just left it there. The birdhouses look so pretty with snow on the roof. Hopefully the little birdies are taking refuge inside those bird houses. As I sit here looking out my living room window, there's about 10 sparrows sitting on the fence (there's a bird feeder nearby) and the bitter winds and snow are howling and flying. I don't know how the birds can stand it! Guess their feathers are built-in insulation.

    1. I know it looks like they would be little frozen birdie icicles. I have a pumpkin along the side of the barn still on the vine. It never turned orange so I never picked it. I'm thinking that if it matured enough, it may be the start of a new vine next spring :)

  20. Thank you for inviting me to stop by. I'm enjoying my tour of a few of your posts. I am in awe of your crafting barn ! Love it ! Thank you ever so much for the compliments on my quilting. It is my one talent, and I hope I never grow too old to enjoy it. My husband has been watching me look through your blog, and he's always interested in where a person lives. When we saw the snow, he said, "she's not from HERE !" No, we don't have snow yet, but with having to get him to his treatments, we are thankful for that this year. I don't post as often as I used to, but you're welcome to come around whenever you like.
