You all know that I love to make signs,
but before I show what I made,
look at this . . .
I took this photo at 6:30
in the morning through the window and screen.
I'm not sure why it looks so blue,
but look "Our First Snow".
I was on Pinterest looking at signs,
and got inspired.
So, I went to Steve's wood pile and found
a few pieces of wood to play with.
Okay, here's the thing . . .
I'm going to show you photos of my signs
before and after I distressed them.
Which do you like best?

I'm thinking about one day
trying to sell my signs.

Well I have to tell you I honestly like both styles. Distressed is more my style. But I think for someone like my Mom who doesn't "understand why you want the paint falling off of your furniture!" she'd like them non distressed! Go for it. They're cute and I think they'd sell. Who doesn't love handmade?

DeleteI love your signs and it's hard to know if I prefer the perfect ones or the distressed. Both have a certain kind of appeal. If forced to decide I'd say I prefer them all new and lovely.

ReplyDeleteThis morning I looked out the kitchen window to see a car in the ditch across from the house on the alfalfa field side of the road. That's what I don't like about the snow. Driving conditions can be bad.

Thank you . . . I haven't decided how to go about selling them yet, but I think it is something that could be fun. I've even thought about making barn quilts. I know that I have always liked them and now that I have a barn, it's a must :) Do you think they would sell?

Both ways look good. I do prefer the distressed as I think it softens the sign. You are talented and I believe you would be successful selling your signs.

ReplyDeleteHi Pam, thank you. The distress ones seem to be the most popular. I usually make them after vintage signs designs so distressing is a natural for them . . . I just wasn't sure about holiday signs. I appreciate your input :)

ReplyDeleteHi Sunny. Actually I had a rubber stamp, so I stamped it for the design and then painted over the ink with white paint.
