Sneaking Into Steve's Woodpile :)

You all know that I love to make signs,
but before I show what I made,
look at this . . .
I took this photo at 6:30
in the morning through the window and screen.
I'm not sure why it looks so blue,
but look "Our First Snow".

I was on Pinterest looking at signs,
and got inspired.

So, I went to Steve's wood pile and found
a few pieces of wood to play with.

 Okay, here's the thing . . .
I'm going to show you photos of my signs
before and after I distressed them.
Which do you like best?

Before.

After.

Before.

After.

Before.
Oh, this photo is before
shadowing the snowflake, too.

After.

I'm thinking about one day
trying to sell my signs.
So, I value your opinion,
it would be a great help.

Well, that's it!

Please leave a comment and
let me know what you think.

Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  1. Well I have to tell you I honestly like both styles. Distressed is more my style. But I think for someone like my Mom who doesn't "understand why you want the paint falling off of your furniture!" she'd like them non distressed! Go for it. They're cute and I think they'd sell. Who doesn't love handmade?

    1. Hi Cindy, thanks for the input. It's nice to hear what others think and I'm sure that you are right, I should leave some of them alone and not distress them :) Thanks!

  2. I love your signs and it's hard to know if I prefer the perfect ones or the distressed. Both have a certain kind of appeal. If forced to decide I'd say I prefer them all new and lovely.

    1. This morning I looked out the kitchen window to see a car in the ditch across from the house on the alfalfa field side of the road. That's what I don't like about the snow. Driving conditions can be bad.

    1. Thank you . . . I haven't decided how to go about selling them yet, but I think it is something that could be fun. I've even thought about making barn quilts. I know that I have always liked them and now that I have a barn, it's a must :) Do you think they would sell?

  8. It's a holly, jolly Christmas, the best time of the year...

Your photos put that song in my head somehow! ;-)

The distressed look makes them appear authentic! The only thing tipping me off is the very modern, "Keep it real."

  9. Both ways look good. I do prefer the distressed as I think it softens the sign. You are talented and I believe you would be successful selling your signs.

    1. Hi Pam, thank you. The distress ones seem to be the most popular. I usually make them after vintage signs designs so distressing is a natural for them . . . I just wasn't sure about holiday signs. I appreciate your input :)

    1. Hi Sunny. Actually I had a rubber stamp, so I stamped it for the design and then painted over the ink with white paint.

  17. These are very cool, I love the distressed look myself, but I know there are some out there that don't, if you plan on selling maybe you could make a couple of each and have on hand for both likes :)

  18. Hi Connie, Those are some cool signs. I like the distressed look! Thanks for that picture of your snow ... we had some here in the city last night. It is melting off quickly this morning. I love snow as long as I don't have to drive in it! :-) I appreciated your comments about freedom on my blog December 7th. You are so right! Hope you have a fine weekend just over the mountains there!
