Okay, who has a drain pad
for doing dishes that has seen
better days.
I grew up in a waste not -
want not family . . .
so making this over was
an obvious task.
I just made a pillow case
to fit it snugly.
Inserted pad and sewed
closed.
It doesn't get any easier.
This is one side
This is the reverse side.
Then I covered this one
with the same fabric
on both sides.
Good as new :)
This is a good way
to use up old fabric
or scraps and even make
your drain pads
match your decor :)
Well, that's my post,
I hope I inspired
someone to make something
old, new again :)
Have a sweet day . . .
keep God first in your life
&
God bless you.
Connie :)
Great job! Although I have to admit I dont have one of those.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!1 I have a couple of those that could be redone. I usually use a dish drainer thing now, however, since we don't have a dishwasher and I have to wash all the dishes, my dish drain pads just couldn't hold them all. But that is still a great idea. Would also make a good hot pad to set hot casseroles on the counter or at a pot luck dinner.
ReplyDeleteYou are always so clever, Connie! And your "new" dish drain pad is much prettier than it was before, too. I don't sew, so no clever makeovers like this for me!
ReplyDeleteConnie,
ReplyDeleteYou are remarkable and so creative. I admire you very much.

It's so cute! I have something that goes over the sink.
ReplyDeleteYour dish drain pad is so pretty!! I have 4 different ones that I rotate. All came from the thrift store ( except one that I found at the dollar store).
ReplyDeleteOh no. My comment went in as anonymous again. Granny Marigold ( of the 4 dish drain pads).
ReplyDeleteVery nice going there CONNIE - your always fascinating me with the Projects you choose to do- Best Wishes. KEV.
ReplyDeleteWhat a very good idea. It looks so much nicer.
ReplyDeleteI love it Connie. Pretty new covers. Why not? those things get washed like dish towels, so we should have 3 or 4. Blessings, xoxo, Love, Susie
ReplyDeleteHi Connie, wanted to Thank You for coming by and for all your affirming comments. We too, think the Lord might just be
ReplyDeletearound the corner, but it's like you say it will be in his timing not ours. We are sure praying that, as I am sure many others
are too. I really love those dish pad drainers cause they are much easier to store away when not in use. We love Pioneer woman too, and her towels are very pretty as many of her other items. Did you know she is on a new show, we just watched
it last night and really enjoyed it. It is on the discovery channel and is called "Big bad budget meals" or something like
that. Think you would probably enjoy it too. Hope you have a lovely weekend, Blessings, Nellie
Connie, what a great idea!!! I use a dish drainer in my 2nd sink. I used to only have one big sink so did have a pad on the side to drain dishes.. and it always got old pretty fast. What a good idea to just cover it. I DID make some new pillow covers to use over my Christmas pillows... so I guess that is making something old into something new to use for a different decor??? If I had more counter space in my kitchen, I WOULD have a dish pad too, as seems like i'm always rinsing something off and need room to just set it on the counter to dry (this was when I didn't have a dishdrainer in my sink). You make me want to make some pretty new hot pads to hang up and match my kitchen! You are such a busy bee! xoxo Marilyn
ReplyDeleteHi Connie, You are amazing! 😊 Every time I click on Crafty Home Cottage I discover something new and interesting. I absolutely love the way you are able to take something that needs a little improvement and make it really cool. That’s exactly what you’ve done with the drain pad. Honestly, you are an inspiration! And, Connie, I just want to say thank you so much for the super kind words you left for me on my latest blog post. I’m sure you will know this from your years of blogging … Occasionally someone will leave a comment that really strikes a home run as comments go. They are comments that will stick with you and encourage you. Your comment was exactly that way. So, thank you again. I’m sending you wishes for a great week ahead. Blessings to you! John
ReplyDeletethat is a great idea, I have recently bought one, my first, I always had a dish drainer with a plastic base to catch the water and have now gone with one of these instead of the plastic, I will have to keep this in mind when this one starts to look bad.
