Camping In The Desert

Enjoying the Autumn colors in the desert. 

We were off camping again . . .

This time at beautiful

Steamboat Rock State Park, WA.

The weather was a mix of warm & sunny,

chilly, windy and raining.

All in all an amazing trip.

The bike paths were glorious

with breathtaking views and 

curved paths with gentle hills easy

enough for a lady of my years to manage :)

Desert wildflowers.

This photo was taken on one of my

bike rides.  

At this point I turned around and headed

back to camp. It was raining, but not

hard and felt very refreshing :)

We enjoyed meeting our new neighbors . . . 

These wild turkey came into camp every day.

They would stay a while and then march

back into the tall desert grass,

only to come back in an hour or so.

Butchy loved sitting my the screen door

watching them walk about our campsite. 

Kayaking was marvelous . . .

You wouldn't want to go overboard

because the water was quite cold.

 Here you can see one of the caves in the cliffs.

Look closely to the right,

do you see the bridge?

That's where we were headed. 

Under the bridge.

This was on the other side.

In the Spring when the snow melts . . .

there is a waterfall here that flows 

down those cliffs and into the lake.

We sat there in awe and made plans to return

in the Spring.

Here we gathered our kayaks together

on the way back across the lake 

to stop and enjoy the view.

That's how we spent four delightfully

calm and restful days this month . . .

Camping Trip Get Away

On the road with our 5th wheel . . .

we needed a break from gardening and canning.

All work and no play make

Steve and Connie a dull couple :)

These first three photos where taken 

from the window of the truck

while driving along the highway.

 Destination Lincoln Rock State Park

where we spent four sweet days relaxing.

This sign tells of the nature

rock formation that resembles the

profile of our 16th president 

Abraham Lincoln.  

It was smokey from near by forest

fires, but the photos turned out 

well enough for you to see his profile.

The campgrounds are beautiful

and because we arrived 

the day after Labor Day

the park was quiet and filled

with retirees. 

If you don't have a camper,

they have these lovely river side

cabins to rent.

Butchy was content with his 

new doggy play pen,

and he enjoyed getting to take a 

walk on the trails twice a day :)

About a mile down the road from the park

was this sweet fruit stand.

I took this photo from the truck.

I had already bought apples 

before leaving home,

or we would have stopped.

Of course when a trip comes to

a close, it is always wonderful to be

home again.

Today I'm picking tomatoes and

canning again . . .

make hay while the sun shines, LOL.

Besides that, winter is coming 

and it's almost time to put the

garden to bed.

Newport Oregon Trip

Hello Blogging Sisters!

I've been away for a week,

taking this lovely instrument to our granddaughters.

It was given to me by a lady in our church. 

She wanted it to go to a good home

and some young person taking lessons.

Our oldest granddaughter (12 years) has been taking 

lessons since September and loves it. 

We all met up at Newport, Oregon.

The weather was rainy and foggy,

but we always have fun together.

That's their dog Astro at the bottom

of the photo.

As many of you know I don't post photos

of our daughter and her family on my blog,

but I have some lovely photos of my trip.

 This is an old lighthouse . . .

boarded up and not used anymore.

A park just below the lighthouse.

We walked down around the bay area

and ate dinner at the famous Mo's.

While at the bay I saw seals out on the rocks,

Colorful buoys hanging everywhere . . .

and picked up a boyfriend, LOL. 

I like the strong rugged type :)

Over by the ocean we saw this cute group

of cottages.

Notice the big anchor. 

This was the gate into the cottages.

On the drive back to our daughter's home,

we stopped at this covered bridge.

 The next few photos were taken around the bridge area.

That is not grass but about 4 different types of moss,

with tiny flowers that look like mini daises.

It was enchanting.

I hope you enjoyed tagging along

with me.

I am now back home and ready to 

get back to my normal lovely life.

It was wonderful spending time with our girls

and just getting away for a fun trip.

Oh, and I met some interesting people 

on the plane.

A lady that teaches blind children 

and a man that just sold his business. 

A bread bakery in New Jersey 

and was retiring and starting 

a new life adventure out west.

It was a fun trip.
