A Bucket Of Blue Paint

When I get my hands 

on a bucket of paint,

there is no stopping me :)

I tried to find a before 

photo of the mudroom . . .

I thought I had one,

but the bottom (under the coat hooks)

was gray and the top was aqua,

and I had a large farmhouse sign

hanging on the wall.

Those butterflies

are real, they where mounted

many years ago by

my dear friend's grandmother.

Now the gray has turned to white

and the aqua to blue.

I think this change 

looks so crisp & clean.

This is the before photo of

the wall in the kitchen

that goes into the living room.

And this is it now.

I love to change things up

and the cheapest way

is with paint 😏

All of you that have 

followed me for awhile

know that I sometimes

go crazy when I get

my hands on a new

gallon of paint.

A Visit From Jack Frost

We got our first frost last

night and the season

for growing is over.

Good bye to bouquets picked

fresh for the table.

A couple of weeks ago 

I thought that this would

be my last bouquet of the

season . . .

But now with our visit from

Mr. Jack Frost

I'm sure this one is 😒

I do enjoy picking fresh

flowers for the table.

Harvesting the last 

of my carrots and onions.

It's been a very busy 

couple of weeks.

Working to clear 

and clean 

the vegetable garden.

A trip to the ER

followed by an appointment

with a orthopedic surgeon.

(all is well . . . I'm 

getting better and no need 

for surgery . . .

Boy, that took a load off!!!

A beautiful gift from

a friend of this little

blue chicken.  She has 

chickens in her decorating

but mostly red, brown and black.

She knew that blue is my color

and before donating to a 

charity shop she asked

me if I'd like it.

Isn't it adorable. 

I love it!

Oh, and I purchased

this new living room

rug from Amazon.

It's one of those washable

rugs 9X12, but it was so 

heavy that I had to roll

the box in.

It says to use a heavy duty

giant laundromat machine.

I can't image how heavy it

will be wet. I'll need 

help when it comes time 

to wash it 😳

Thrifting and Painting

 

Last week Beulah and I 

just wanted to get out of the house

so we went for a drive 

and ended up at a favorite thrift shop.

Where I purchased this 

lovely hand embroidered table

cloth and four matching napkins 

for $4.00. 

Oh, these are the last of my 

summer flowers :)

I'm going to miss having 

fresh bouquets on the table.

Before they were blue

Maybe you noticed that I 

painted my kitchen chairs

white to match the

new paint job on the cabinets.

I still had a little bit of 

white paint left over . . .

I also painted my bed . . .

I told you that I cannot be

trusted when there is a 

can of paint around.

Well, I used every drop 

of paint in that can.

I'll have to go paint shopping

if I decide to paint 

anything else, LOL.

Back to the thrift store

I purchased this little 

clipboard, also $4.

Here it is in the kitchen window.

And this painting . . .

also $4. 

Four dollars must be 

a trade mark for these 

types of items in this store. 

Our temperatures are getting

down close to freezing,

but until they reach that point

I'm enjoying fresh veggies

from the garden.

$65 Kitchen Make-Over

I am one of those people that cannot

be around paint without

painting something. 

Sunday evening I remembered

a third of a gallon of

white paint left over

from two projects this year.

That's all it took . . .

just that thought

and I ran to the computer

and ordered new knobs & handles

for the kitchen cupboards.

Then Monday morning I got that

 

paint out of storage and started

painting the kitchen cupboards.

Well, here's the mess that 

always comes with a project.

In the eleven years that

we've had this house 

the kitchen has been yellow . . .

Turquoise . . .

 

and Grey.

This is what it looked

like when we bought 

the house.

 

It always amazes me, 

what just a coat of paint 

can do.

The knobs and handles 

costed me around $65.00

and the paint was left over.

So . . . I would say,

"Not bad for a cheap make-over"

Washi Tape Cupboard Refresh

I just wanted to share 

 little project that I did 

 in my kitchen this morning.

It only took between 20 and 30 minutes 

and I think it made 

 a sweet little change.

Washi tape is the perfect size

for the edge of most 

kitchen cupboards.    

Therefore it's easy to add 

 a little colorful surprise 

when you open

the cupboard doors.

This is before adding the tape.

I did this once before with

red and white polka dot.

It held up nicely for 

several years

and then was easy to remove.

Also this week 

(I forgot to take before pictures) 

I scraped old paint from the trim 

around the roof  

and the door of our well house.

 

Then I painted and added 

these ornamental hinges to the door. 

I did the sides of the roof trim 

but I hired a gentleman 

from our church to come over 

and do the ends (the peak) 

because this old gal didn't want 

to go up the ladder quite that high.

 

I'm really happy with the results. 

The old peeling paint 

made it look so neglected 

and now it looks fresh and new.

Hello, My Name Is Connie

 

 Hello!

My name is Connie

and 

I'm a "Paint-aholic."

 

 

 There are a few things 

in this world 

that I cannot be trusted with 

or I overindulge.

 

 

 One of them is cheesecake 

and another is paint. 

Some of you may remember that 

I painted my back door this year.

 

  Well, I had leftover paint 

and I've been trying to think 

of what I could use it for. 

 

 

  

So even though I redid my bedroom 

about a year and a half ago . . .

 

 

There I was yesterday evening

at 8:00 PM

repainting the bed.

 

 

Like I had nothing else

to do, right? 

 

 

 

Butchy's dog tags . . .

he is missed :(

 

Here's a little tour

of the rest of the room.

 

 

I like to think of it

as my little English cottage

bedroom.

Here's another bedspread . . .

the first was a quilt that I made,

but this old chenille bedspread

was covering an old saddle in a garage

where a yard sale was going on.

I asked about it

and was told it wasn't for sale,

it was just keeping her saddle from getting dusty.

So, I made a offer . . .

and she found something else to 

cover her saddle :)

That was probably 15 years ago :) 

 

 

I think this new look 

is much more cheery

than the black bed. 

It'll be nice to wake up to 

and in the winter when the skies 

are gray my bedroom will be 

a bright and happy room.

 

 

Well, you can't trust an alcoholic

 

with a leftover half bottle of booze 

 

and you can't trust Connie 

 

with a leftover half quart of paint. 

 

That's just who I am.
