Recycled Tea Cups, Saucers and Odd Dishes

 I know that everyone

has seen these glue and dish

projects . . .

they are all over Pinterest.

That is what I did this evening 

and thought I would share. 

Good old E6000 glue.

One for a candle.

An another for a bar of 

heavenly smelling soap.

This soap was a little gift

from a friend 

and I wanted to place it

on something special.

It's what started my whole 

craft project :)

Project Reveal!

Do you remember four posts 

ago I teased you with a few photos 

from a new project I'd started.

🌱🌷🌱

Today is my reveal,

I'm very excited to 

show it to you! 

All of this furniture 

is pretty old 

some of it over 20 or 25 

years old and the cushions 

are still functional but 

just aren't pretty anymore.

I've been covering them for 

many years now.

This is how they look 

without covers.

This is my stack of

slip covers.

Plus a little footstool

that used to be in our 

little motorhome

15 years ago.

It's brown and has storage

inside, but now it's covered, too :)

Warm weather has been sneaking 

into our part of the woods 

on and off for the last few weeks. 

Some days are warm and some days 

are still cold, 

but I'm ready for enjoying 

my front porch.

This project started with 

a set of old sheets. 

The bottom one was pretty worn

 but the top one was still nice 

so I used it 

(the white with the little rose buds) 

and added some big flower fabric 

that I got at Walmart 

plus a few whimsical panel pieces 

that I bought at a local fabric store

 a couple weeks ago.

The panel had 6 adorable squares

I used 3 of them on the porch :)

.I was with my sister-in-law 

and she said, 

"that fabric is you, Connie". 

So after thinking about it 

I decided she was right and bought it. 

It turned out to be the finishing 

touch that I needed for this project.

These are thrifting finds,

that I found just this week.

Well my porch looks very girly 

and makes me think I need 

to have some friends over for 

a tea party 

or 

at least lemonade and cookies. 

There's always a lot of hard work 

to do this time of year 

but I'm learning that I have to stop, 

take breaks and enjoy 

the simple pleasures in life.

 I think my new redo 

on the front porch is going 

to bring me a lot of pleasure 

this year and I made them all 

like pillow cases 

so I can take them off 

and throw them in the washing machine 

when I need to.

 

I wish I could have 

each and every one of you 

over to just sit and relax. 

Put your feet up, 

drink a cool drink 

and 

have sweet conversation.

Flowers & Goodwill Finds

 

Today my friend and I 

planted these flowers 

out by my front door. 

She had given me them as 

a thank you for helping her 

make the quilt for her great grandson.

 The stepping stone in front

 of them is from 2008 

and has footprints of 

my granddaughters when they were 

little girls. 

It's a treasure.

I went to Home Depot 

this morning to buy some things 

for my drip lines and while 

I was in town I stopped off at 

the Goodwill. 

I haven't been there 

in a very long time. 

I scored these two metal canisters 

for dog treats, 

aren't they adorable? 

Then I saw these two dark blue coffee 

cups and this pretty aqua bottle. 

I love putting bottles 

in my windows with just one or two 

little flowers in them.

This wreath looks like lavender

but it is actually plastic.

I like these kinds of artificial flowers

because they look like new

after a few minutes in warm soapy water.

.

Next is my chicken wire holder 

with three mason jars. 

I think it will be beautiful 

with flowers in it 

this summer. 

Well that's my treasures. 

I spent $20.50 for everything. 

I didn't need a single thing 

but when does that stop us 

when it's a bargain, right! 

All of you ladies know what 

that's all about. 💕

Thrifting and Painting

 

Last week Beulah and I 

just wanted to get out of the house

so we went for a drive 

and ended up at a favorite thrift shop.

Where I purchased this 

lovely hand embroidered table

cloth and four matching napkins 

for $4.00. 

Oh, these are the last of my 

summer flowers :)

I'm going to miss having 

fresh bouquets on the table.

Before they were blue

Maybe you noticed that I 

painted my kitchen chairs

white to match the

new paint job on the cabinets.

I still had a little bit of 

white paint left over . . .

I also painted my bed . . .

I told you that I cannot be

trusted when there is a 

can of paint around.

Well, I used every drop 

of paint in that can.

I'll have to go paint shopping

if I decide to paint 

anything else, LOL.

Back to the thrift store

I purchased this little 

clipboard, also $4.

Here it is in the kitchen window.

And this painting . . .

also $4. 

Four dollars must be 

a trade mark for these 

types of items in this store. 

Our temperatures are getting

down close to freezing,

but until they reach that point

I'm enjoying fresh veggies

from the garden.

Re-Using Old Furniture

Do you remember this chair?

I made this slipcover almost 20 years ago.

This chair has been in some room 

of our house ever since.

Well, this is the reason for the slipcover.

I decided to buy two new chairs 

for the living room 

and put this chair and 

my old brown recliner 

out in the barn. 

The buffalo plaid was perfect

for the barn.

So, I just made new arm covers. 

Here it is finished.

Easy fix :)

 

And here they are in the barn. 

I found this guy at the 

Goodwill Thrift Store.

It fits my theme wonderfully

and such a handsome fellow :)

Quilting Away :)

 I'm still quilting away on this

quilt that I started somewhere 

around 2 years ago.

I'm very happy to say that

the center is all finished.

Each little stitch by hand.

 

 

 

I love the vibrate colors

and amazing flora fabrics.

 

 

In fact I started making

this quilt with the 

bedroom redo that I did

this winter still in my mind.

So, when it is done. . .

that is it's destination. 

 

 

It will be joining these.

 Here it is laid out over

the sofa.

I've just started quilting

the boarder. 

 

I've decided to quilt the

boarder with brightly

colored embroidery threads.

 

 

This picnic basket 

is a "Goodwill" make-over

that I did many years ago . . .

 

 

 it holds all 

of my embroidery supplies.

 

 

I sure hope this is not

going to be another

year out ... I don't think

it will be, but my old

arthritic fingers

might disagree :)
