National Wear Red Day

Today I would like to use my blog and my art as
A Love Note
to all my fellow sisters of the world.

It's time to take action & put our focus on good health.

One of the best places to start is by visiting this web site:
I Am Women Heart
The national coalition for women with heart disease.

Whether you have heart disease, or whether you don't really know,
being educated on the subject is our best ally.

here is their link:
http://www.womenheart.org/

There is so much information on this site,
and the answers to questions . . . you may not even know to ask.

If you want to spread the word
and use this post to do it,
I would be honored.
Please just link it back to me:)

Here's to a Healthy Life

Remember wear RED on Feb 1st.

Your blogging sister, Connie

  7. Great info and I thank you for it. Also love your art. About the hat Connie, now don't laugh but I had a hat with seagulls on top. A fellow in Mexico said he wanted me to have it. It was the craziest thing I have ever had. I believe there were six stuffed (not real)gulls glued on top. I wonder what ever happened to that hat.....

  15. Connie, Thank you for Devoting this post to heart health awareness. I had a heart attack when I was only 47 - right in the middle of painting the bedroom. I thought I was having an allergic reaction to the paint, but I was clammy instead of hot like when I have hives. I never had any pain - just a little breathless and clamminess. I called my husband to come home from work, called my doctor, and made sure my neighbor was home. Four hours later I was recovering from having two stents inserted in a vessel near the heart. Remember ladies - there was NO pain - just an uneasy sense that something was wrong.

I will get off my soapbox now!

    1. Hi Donna, Wow! That is so scary . . . our symptoms are so much like other small stay at home and self medicate problems.
I am very glad that you had the knowledge to get to the doctor. We need to be aware of what to look for, and at the same time not turn into hypochondriacs. It is a real grey area . . . I like things black and white. Like I said before . . . scary.
I am so glad that you are okay . . . I getting to know you better with every post and comment.
Here's to a long heart healthy life.

  22. Thanks for this post, Connie! I had the beginnings of heart disease about 4 years ago and had dealt with SVT since 1996. I switched cardiologists, and went almost over-board on the exercise (esp. walking/running). Just had my yearly check-up and my arteries now thank me for all that walking!! :) - Revis P.S. I know I'm late, but I'm going to post on my blog anyway for my lady friends!
