Aprons On The Line

I've spent my day at the sewing machine.
I wish that I had a pretty dress-form to show off my aprons,
but since I don't the clothes line will have to do :)

I love this pretty turquoise fabric.

Here I used my new machine for the scallop trim,
and the embroidered "Paris & Heart".

I want to thank Carol at
The Polka Dot Closet
for her tutorial on flower making.
http://thepolkadotcloset.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-to-make-fabric-flower.html

Here's the other apron that I made today.
like I said, I spent my entire day sewing.
It was so much fun :)

Here's another flower.
Thank you Carol.
If you don't follow Carol,
her blog is amazing and her tutorials
are fabulous.
 This is a free embroidery download.
It is the design of the month July 2013
at http://www.ibroidery.com/
  This is another free download.
I went to
http://www.brother-usa.com/homesewing/ to find this design.
 Another free design found on the Brother site.
 This pretty applique design I found on etsy at
http://bigdreamsembroidery.blogspot.com/2011/09/poppy-flower-machine-embroidery.html
Applique on the machine is a little tricky,
but I think it turned out amazing.

I am having so much fun learning my machine.
I made all four of these on white fabric.
I don't know what I'll use them for, but maybe someday
I'll turn all my beginner samples into a small quilt :)
I'm not a quilter, but I'm game to try any new craft.

~~~***~~*****~~***~~~
I hope you enjoyed your visit
&
I hope I inspired you to try something new,
or to rekindle your love of sewing.
Stay Happy!
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
  1. These aprons are so cute! I love to see them hanging on the line.
    I bought some vintage aprons a while back and hung them on the rusty fence with a barn in the background...it's in my header on my blog...I like the way it looked. :)
    I'll have to check Carols tutorial for flowers.
    I've been having some sewing time lately too. It is fun!
    1. Hi Pat, thanks so much for stopping by. I've seen your aprons on the fence. That is a very cute way to show them off. It just shows how creative you are, great idea and the barn in the background is the perfect touch :)
      I know that you'll fall in love with Carol's blog. She has an amazing talent and she loves to share, her tutorials are wonderful. Have fun!
  2. These aprons are so pretty that they really need to be dresses so you can go out and show them off!
  3. You did a wonderful job! I love your aprons and your designs. That trim on the first apron is terrific. I used to do a LOT of applique work. Try using Wonder Under I think that's what it's called....(a two sided bonding material) to adhere your pieces that you are going to applique. You just iron a bit of it between the base fabric and the fabric you are using for the design and then you can easily satin stitch it in place and it doesn't move. All my girl's outfits used to have something appliqued on their pants bottoms....lol...I was WAY ahead of Victoria's Secret! lol
    1. Hi Diana, Thanks for the pointers, I'm having so much fun. I love learning new things, especial when they try out so pretty. I'm not bragging, I'm just excited. I've made my share of bloopers in my life. LOL Of course I wouldn't be blogging about them :)
  4. Those aprons are so sweet. I love aprons, I feel like a 'proper' cook when I have got one on. My two aprons came from my Nan and are still going strong. Have a great weekend xxx
  5. I came looking for you tonight because we just got home from a great concert and for some reason the photo of you on your blog with you holding a guitar came to mind as we were sitting listening to "I See Hawks In LA". This is our second time seeing them. It is a small venue in town with great music every Friday night.
    LOVE your aprons. I think I need to make some.
    1. How sweet that you were thinking of me. There is a bluegrass festival going on this weekend that some of my friends are playing in. They invited me, but I've been having some health problems and I'm afraid I might let them down. So, this evening Steve and I are going down there to visit and listen to the music. I'm feeling much better than I did a month ago, but I'm still not myself yet. We are playing at the County Fair in three weeks, so I hope that I'll be back in the game by then. I'm delighted that you like my aprons, I had the best time . . . just sewing my day away :)
    1. Hi Ann, there are so many cute designs for applique . . . I just had to try it. Downloading was like so many things . . . the fear of trying it out weighed the reality :) I can't remember, but I think you said that your machine was a Brother's too. Mine will only store twelve downloads, so I'm interested in finding out what to do after that. It also downloads to a removable file, so I haven't figured out how to save them in my computer. Maybe that's what the cards are for . . . it's all Greek to me. Once I get twelve saved I'll have to figure this out or delete some in order to add another ?!*#??+^/? confusion, LOL
  27. What fabulous aprons, Connie! If you extended and lengthened the skirt part you could make these into wraparound dresses for daytime wear, they are so pretty. Technology amazes me, but as you demonstrate here, it means nothing if you don't sit down and let the sparks fly.
