Fresh Kitchen Paint

I finished the kitchen
and thought you might like to see it :)

This was the wall behind the stove two years ago.
Then last year when I made this milk sign,
I painted it turquoise.

This is it today.

My other walls were all a light gray, before the aqua.

The gray was depressing, but this aqua makes me happy.

I found these rugs at Lowe's.
Love the colors :)

As you can see I kept my chef.
I painted him on that door about ten or twelve years ago,
and he's become part of the family, LOL.

You may have noticed that the hot sauce bottles are gone.
Steve took them down for me, so that I could paint,
and now he's slowly washing them and putting them back up :)
That's his part of the kitchen . . .
He collects hot sauces everywhere we go.

Well, that's what I've been up to.

What have you been doing?
I hope whatever you're doing, you're having fun doing it :)

Your blogging sister,
Connie

  1. I love the giant milk bottle and the green wall.

We struggle to keep our limited counter space free. I like your spice jars above the stove.

    1. Thank you, I purchased those large salt shakers at Walmart. I really liked them because they have two sizes of holes and one open pour sprout. Then Steve measured the stove and the shakers and made that rack for me :)
      I love it!

  6. Love your kitchen, color is certainly happy and cheery. Lots of counter space, would be a dream come true for me. I see all your guitars hanging in the back ground. (oh btw, thanks for the links to go to chordie and classic country) Oh that chef you painted on your door, is he ever sweet!!! Would be awfully hard to cover him up, he is a work of art in your kitchen. Gosh, that is alot of hot sauce, are all those bottles full??? Have a great day.

    1. Hi Louise, all the bottles are full and all of them are different. He really doesn't have room for any more, they go around three walls, LOL. I'm glad you like the sites that I sent you. You can find almost any song you want there :)

  8. I have been working on the kitchen too. But just cleaning out all the drawers and cabinets, not nearly as exciting as this!! I ADORE the Chef!!! Believe me when I say if you lived close to me, I would pay you to come over and paint me one too. The first thing I noticed in the earlier pictures was the big milk bottle and the big clock, they are really pivotal to me. I'm trying to look all around and get tips for myself. My cabinets are this color. That looks like a white calendar frame that you have painted with chalkboard paint, I LOVE that idea. I have a big calendar frame up in my kitchen, but have not seen any in stores recently, I might try to do this. Actually I think I will look around Amazon for a frame, then paint it.

    1. Hi Ginny, if you are looking for frames, the best place I've found is yard sales. After you find one have your hubby cut a smooth piece of plywood to fit it and paint it with chalk board paint. You can find gorgeous frames at yard sales and flea markets. Great prices, too :)
      Thanks for this gracious comment . . . you're a sweetie pie.

  12. I am definitely moving in, Connie! LOVE your kitchen - just one thing I was going to express shock and horror at - and you have moved them - the sauce bottles! I was envisaging you with an exceptionally long-handled feather duster, whisking away to keep them all dusted!!

Yes, it all looks lovely. I could probably fit my entire ground floor inside it - but it is lovely! Lx

    1. Hi Lynne, our kitchen used to have a bar that divided it from a eating area that we never used. So we removed it and made the kitchen much more user friendly. When we have company we either eat on the porch or the dinning room. When it's Steve and I we eat dinner in the family-room in front of the TV, and breakfast at the island in the kitchen. We both like to cook, so this gives us lots of room. I does look larger in the photos than real life:) I'm not sure why that is.

    1. Hi Cindy,
If I lived closer I would paint you a chef . . . it would be fun :) The stove is a Sears stove, but we had to special order it because it is not standard size. You can find them on the Sears web site. We have had it for about ten years and it's been a dandy. The small oven is a regular oven and the large oven is convection, and I love the glass top . . . it cleans so easily. I would have rather had gas, but our only option would have been to have a propane tank in the backyard (our backyard is already small), so we purchased the electric, it comes in both :) So, if you haven't purchased a new range for your new home, that's where we bought it.
Have a lovely weekend and thanks for the sweet visit :)

  31. Hi Connie, this is my favorite yet! I love those two colors together. I have been using that green a lot in my classroom and have been wanting to use the blue too. They are kind of safari colors, and the teacher and I in the other room are going for a rainforest theme.

Your chef is darling, and I like the idea of collecting hot sauce. Great idea, Steve!

What am I up too? Mainly just working and hanging out with my sweetie and as much family as I can. It is nearly fall, and we are hoping to go to Texas to watch some football at least once this season.

    Hugs,

    Kathy M.
