The first doll I made was dressed as a ballerina . . . why,
because that is what dolls are, right?
This doll is a strong, smart woman . . .
a student of nursing, with a very caring future ahead of her.

Hi Val, at the moment Lucy is debating between a nurse or an artist, but she's only 6 years old :)
DeleteI love this, Connie! I have always loved dolls and I think those that are made with love are even more special. I'm sure Lucy will love it. You did a great job on all the painting and the scrubs.
ReplyDeleteI'd love if you would link this up to The Creative Home & Garden hop!
Hi Kathy, i've not learned how to link up to another site. I'm an old dog learning new tricks. Thanks for the invitation, maybe you could do a post with instructions on how to do that :)

ReplyDeleteThanks :)
DeleteYou are a woman of many talents, that's for sure! I love the scrubs on the doll. Thank you so much for leaving a comment on my blog...you had asked about St. Joseph and a roller coaster and here was my comment in case you don't see it: "I didn't know you were from Michigan City, and yes, we certainly did drive right through there! I don't think there's a roller coaster in St Joseph...now it's just the park with the fountain and a huge indoor merry-go-round. Beautiful area; glad you enjoyed the photos!" :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Melanie, things change as the years roll by, I know that when I was a kid the park by the beach in Michigan City was much larger than it is today. With computers, video games, cable TV, and all the entertainment right at your fingertips, people do not go out to socialize like they did when I was young. Back then there was a concert in the park every week, the park-rides-and concessions were open 7 days and nights a week, there was a big dance hall open every Friday and Saturday nights, and the bench was always filled with swimmers and sunbathers (maybe that hasn't changed). St.Joseph had a huge park right on the beach, too . . . but like I said people got out on the weekends and summer nights . . . back in the old days, LOL when I was young :)
DeleteThank you for the sweet compliment on my doll. Lucy loved her and I'm sure that she will go to school for show and tell.
Thanks for popping in and visiting, this has been very nice.
Hi Connie,
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable doll! I imagine it's a bathing suit under the srubs (which are great). Lucy will be ready to take a pleasure cruise on the Gypsy Rose!
Hugs,
Kay
Hi Kay, I'm delighted that you like Lucy's doll. I sure like your new shoes :)
DeleteMy Grandma used to make dolls for me...what a treasure Connie.
ReplyDeleteI do hope that my dolls become treasures or that they become so loved that they are worn completely out.
DeleteEvening Connie, Your dolls are so special!! What wonderful gifts and keepsakes they will become! This one patterned after your daughter is too SWEET! LOVE the SCRUBS! What a wonderful idea.....And YES...Us women are strong! Blessings~~~Roxie
ReplyDeleteHi Roxie, I am happy that you like Lucy's doll. She was so surprised when she opened it. Her eyes got big and she looks at her mamma and said, "It's you mamma".
DeleteI got a big smile and a huge hug . . . best thank your ever :)
What a good idea, now now grandaoughter has two real life role models (you and your daughter) and one to carry around. Much prefer this idea to a pretty doll. Xxx
