Now that I have been doing machine embroidery,
I find myself with threads everywhere.
So, I decided that my next project would be a little bag to collect my clippings,
instead of letting them all fall to the floor.
I wanted to incorporate free-hand machine embroidery into my bag,
so, this is what I did.
Thank you, Tim Holtz!
I used Tim's stamp to first stamp my fabric.

Then I put on black embroidery thread and stitched over his design.
Next I added a little freehand writing and the heart.
Then I added a lining, and a little trim and a button.
And here is where it will hang, ready to do its job :)
I hope you enjoyed this little project.
I guess it is easy to see that I'm having a good time with my sewing machine :)
Until my next post . . .
stay happy and enjoy each day :)
Please leave a comment,
I delight in reading them . . .
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
Hi Connie. That's such an excellent idea. I hate finishing a sewing project to find there's thread everywhere you look. Your bag has turned out beautifully.
ReplyDeletePatricia x
Thanks Patricia, My floor was getting pretty messy and then when I used the broom the threads would get tangles in the bristles and when I vacuumed they tangled around the brushes on my vac. Now, I just have to break the old habit of letting them fall to the floor , LOL
DeleteThis is so lovely!! I love thread sketching. It's fun and one of a kind. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHello Fifi, thanks for stopping by. I am delighted that you like this, it was a fun project. Now I need to put it to good use :)
DeleteA wonderful idea Connie!! You are such a talented lady.
ReplyDeleteHello Dear Beth, it is great to see you, but what are you doing out blogging on your birthday . . .you need to be somewhere with your feet up and a big bowl of cake and ice cream in your hand. Happy, Happy Birthday, my dear sweet friend.
DeleteThis is AWESOME!!!! It needs to be where people can see it,too. With a handle it would make a really cute tote bag or purse for a sewer!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Ginny, you always have such good ideas. Right now my main concern is have a pretty and clean room to play in :) I do hope that you are having a wonderful day. I remember driving through the Ozarks with my parents when I was a child and how very beautiful in is in the Fall. I hope that your weather is nice and that your forests are a blaze with color :)
DeleteThat is absolutely awesome. I need one of those little thread bags too. I'll have to put it on my list of things to do
ReplyDeleteHello Ann, I know that as soon as I develop the habit of using it and not allowing all my threads to fall to the floor . . .that my little studio will be a happier place. I love walking into that room a seeing it all neat and pretty. It doesn't always happen that way, LOL
DeleteDarling - love that you used TH stamp!!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
You must be a Tim Holtz fan, too. I do love his stamps, pens and ink pads.
DeleteI wasn't sure if this would work, but nothing ventured nothing gained, and I do like it.

Hi Susie, if you haven't tried free hand on your machine . . . give it a try, you'll love the new possibilities for creating that it brings :)
DeleteOH WOW!!! This is too cool and so fabulous! I love that you stitched around the stamped image! What an art!
ReplyDeleteHi Anita, I'm happy that you like it, I wanted something on the bag that had a sewing theme, when I remembered this stamp. What the hay . . . give it a try, right . . . ReplyDeleteHugs, Karen
Hi Connie,
ReplyDeleteWell aren't you somethin'! To think of stamping an image and stitch over it is wonderful!!!! I might be doing that -- maybe with some of my doodles.
Hugs,
Kay
Hi Kay, I know, it was just a idea, but now I have been thinking of more and more things that I could do like this. My wheels are turning so fast that I have smoke coming out my ears. You know when your brain won't turn off and to lay awake at night thinking crafts and sewing, LOL.
Deleteso good idea ! I'm repurposing my studio and didn't think of that ! so thank you and You also gave me an other idea I had a hand embroidery whidh is the same size of your pillow, and I didn't think of transforming it !
ReplyDeletei'm pleased to be your newest French follower.

Have a beautiful Sunday! :)

ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteWhat a good idea, and so pretty. I haven't done any sewing in years, and am thinking of having another go. I have seen some vintage Vogue patterns for clothes I could wear to next year's Agatha Christie Festival (we nerds take it very seriously).
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by my blog, and for your kind comment. - Tracey xo
Hi Tracey, I am so excited to have you as a follower. Your Agatha Christie Festival sounds like so much fun. Do you have photos posts on your blog of the last festival? I don't think that is being a nerd, I think that is having fun and not wasting away your life on all work and no play :)
DeleteOh my goodness Connie, is that ever a neat thread bag....and to think you used Tim Holtz's stamps....very ingenious. You sure are an artist at everything you do!!! Well done you!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, you are so sweet . . . thank you :)
DeleteThat is so clever :). What a great idea. I also use to get threads all over myself when sewing. Perhaps I'll make one of my own :)...
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty handy hanging there by the machine :) now I have to get in the habit of using it instead of the floor, LOL.
DeleteMy goodness.. you have taken organization to a whole new level.... and in a darling way too!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
Hope this week is a great week for you... full of fun and creativity :)
{p.s. I'm blogging again, and it's fun again too}
Hi Kerin, it is great to see you and I am happy that you are back in the delightful world of blogging. Thanks for your kind words :)
DeleteI love your thread catcher.
ReplyDeleteSo creative to use a stamp to embroider over :)
I have made one of these years ago, with a weighted pin cushion attached to help hold it in place on my desk :)
That's a great idea :)
