Looking Out My Window

Lean Upon your windowsill
and look out at the beauty of nature . . .
gaze upon the face of the Lord.
With this vision held deep in your heart,
Turn to meet your day.

It's  a fresh new day,with endless possibilities.

I'm teaching myself to crochet with this . . .
and with "You Tube" videos.

it's going to be a long winter
&
this girl always needs a project.
Do you crochet?

Thank you for visiting,
and may your day be filled with joy:)

Keep Smiling,

    1. Hi Sally, quilting is another thing that I am learning. I just purchased fabric for a small quilt and will probably get started on it next week. It's going to be a Christmas gift, so I will be taking my time and hopefully doing everything right :)

  2. Connie, I love looking out our window and seeing the beauty of Autumn! Both the trees and the mountains are breathtaking. I see that yours are too. I have been wanting to try crocheting again. I tried when I was a young bride, but did it way too tight. Hoping I've loosened up a bit. I know my body has. lol!

    1. Hi Diana, well, I have fallen in love with "You Tube" for it's amazing tutorials. There are instructions for just about anything you might want to learn. I've always been a visual learner so this is a great way to learn crochet. I can stop the video anytime during to process and learn at my own pace :)

  4. Nice blog today......yes I can crochet, can't recall anything very useful...oh I made alot of those towels, cut in half then the top part crocheted to hang on a door knob...really should have learned how to make those dish cloths as I use them all the time. Those trees are beautiful against the blue sky. We were talking about snow blowers....the one we have is on it's last legs....said to the husband....maybe we could escape this winter somehow and just go right into spring.......just a thought. LOL

    1. Escaping winter is what all those snowbirds do. My brother has been doing it for years now. Sounds pretty nice, right:)

  5. yes! I crochet. I think it is so wonderful that you are teaching yourself to crochet.
I wanted to learn to to tat. I've done a little smidgen of it...but nothing substantial. I didn't stick with it long enough to keep it up. Maybe after I get through with this couch and some other things off the list... I can pick up learning to TAT again.
Best wishes on your crocheting. You'll have to show us what you make! I'll be watching.
I love that picture of your windows... the blue makes a pretty frame around your window to sit and gaze out. :) Pat

    1. Hello Pat, thanks so much for stopping in and visiting. I have many things that I have learned and then not kept up with. It's like I can do it, by never really mastered it and made it my own . . . I think that is typical of creative people. We want to learn everything :)

  6. The tall yellow trees with the blue behind them are gorgeous! Gosh, they are right in your front yard!! What are they? My mom crocheted a lot, I still have many of her doilies and pillowcases.

    1. Hi Ginny, really they are in my backyard and they are poplar trees. They dump more leaves than I even want to think about, but they are beautiful. The other thing about them is that when they turn yellow they take on a marvelous smell. The backyard smells like heaven. Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting. I love seeing your profile photo of you and your hubby in my comment list :)

  7. Dear Connie - What a view! Gorgeous! I am like you - trying to crochet a pumpkin with the help of you tube! I gave it up for today! I have not been crocheting for 35 years I think. The problem is that I have difficulties to see it all - I must go and get other material tomorrow! I guess you are more talented and wish you good luck! Don't give up! Christa

    1. Hi Christa, I don't think that I am more talented at all . . . I'm starting out with simple straight rows of double crochet and making a baby blanket. I just hope that when I'm done with it, that I will feel that it is nice enough to give as a gift :) I'm sure that your pumpkin takes a lot more skill than just double crochet :)

    1. Hi Laura, I love to knit, too. I guess that I have this thing about learning. It has a lot to do with Alzheimer's Disease. I do not have any systems, but because I retired from working in the health care field, I've seen way too many people with this disease. It has been proven that people that play games, do crafts and are always learning new things, have a far less chance of coming down with it . . . it is something we can prevent just my enjoying the learning process and I'm all for that :)

  9. I crocheted years ago Connie - it was the 70's, remember Afghan coats?? But when I came to try it anew a year or so back - I just could not get it! Horror! So I went to Youtube and someone taught me very quickly. Good old Youtube!! I learn tunes from there as well, it's great! Lx

    1. Hello Ann, I enjoy being busy when I watch the TV, and I love lap projects. Crocheting is great because all you need is a little hook and your yarn, it is so portable. I will probably never do anything fancy either, but there are a lot of things that can be made with simple stitches :)

  12. I can't wait to see what you can do when you learn to crochet, Connie! I use to many, many years ago (high school and early 20's). Maybe I will again, when I get through this renovation process....it's going to be a long winter with this! I'm glad you were able to get another camping trip in before winter.....lovely area! Good for you..... learning something new. Although, I have to say, I'm not the least bit surprised, as you are such a creative person.

I plan on doing a lot of reading this Winter. I've missed making time to curl up with a great book :)

    Have a great week!

    1. Hello Kerin, winter is the perfect time to catch up on reading. I'll be doing some of that , too. It is great to have you stop by, I wish we could sit down with a warm cup of coco and get to know each other better. Oh, that lime-green color on the house in your blog, is one that my daughter has been considering for her home. it is a bold move, but that cottage is beautiful :)

  17. The view from my window right now is very variable. Heavy rain and dark clouds and then it suddently stops and we have sunshine. I taught myself to crochet 2 years ago and I am now literally hooked. Catherine Hurst has lots of wonderful videos to help you learn crochet. I used her site a lot when I began. Just letting you know your the lucky winner of the book I am passing on. I have sent you an email so if you would like to get in touch I will send it as soon as I have your address.

  19. Crocheting is loads of fun. Have you visited The Royal Sisters blog? She has some great step by step tutorials. I especially like her Christmas decorations tutorials. I hadn't crocheted for years (and I'm still very much a beginner) but found them easy to follow. :)
