Before and After Dining Room Furniture

After much sanding, priming, painting and oiling wood . . .
Here's my finished dining room set :)

Before

After

Before

After

Do you remember that I only paid $35.00 for these three pieces.

And that was before my senior discount :)

Living on a budget can be just as stylish as having
a pocket full of money to throw away.

Never let your budget stand in your way.
Substitute elbow grease for money.

Keep smiling,

Your blogging sister,

Connie :)

  1. Wow, great job, Connie. Your chairs and table look great after the elbow grease treatment. :)
My whole house is bits and pieces from sales, yard sales, etc. and I think I like it that way better than had we had the money to "match" everything.

    1. Oh, I so agree. I hate cookie cutter style, matchy, matchy everything. Thrift stores and yards sales were a must when iI was young, now that I'm older and can choose . . . I choose them because they are wonderful fun and I hate wasting money :)

  8. Great job, Connie. I have a tough time finding real bargains around here. Everybody thinks their old stuff is GOLD. But that doesn't stop me from searching. I love the white. So clean and kind of Scandinavian-y.

    1. Hi Cynthia, well, isn't the Lord sweet because I have been having a battle of the mind today. Just going along nice as can be and then all of a sudden find myself dwelling on old past hurts by people that I have long since forgave and forgotten. I battled all afternoon back and forth with this. I am happy to say that my spirit won out, with much armored prayer :) Thank you for being such a sweet and prayerful sister :)

  20. Connie, I have been thinking about you recently as we have seen the tragedy unfolding on our TV's of the landslide, which I believe must be fairly nearby to you. What a terrible thing. Thoughts with everyone. Jane x

    1. Hi Jane, how sweet of you to think of us. We are about a 100 miles away from where the landslides are, but isn't it horrible. My heart goes out to those people too. I was just hearing on the news, about a small 4 year old boy that a helicopter team spied while flying over. The helicopter had to hover over him about a foot off the ground while two men reached down and pulled him out. He was stuck so mad that his pants came off in the mud when they recused him. How terribly frightening that had to have been for that little guy.

    2. But that is wonderful Connie, that he was alive. I must listen to the midday news & hear about it.

  21. WOW - beautiful! What a difference. Love them!

  22. Great job, they look stunning! I didn't realise you were so close to the mudslide, it is just terrible, all those poor people and some still not knowing the fate of their loved ones xxx

    1. Good Morning Fran,
I can not imagine the horrible feeling these poor people are going through. It's scary . . . we've all stepped out into mud so bad that we've stepped out of your shoes. I've none that instantly while walking to close to a lake or river bed, but to have it consume your home and family . . . it's beyond words. We'll have to keep these poor people in our prayers.
Oh, I love that you love my table and chairs, me too :)

    1. Hi Pattie, I know, when the young man lead me to the back of Goodwill to see it, I almost did my happy dance right there in front of all the workers. It could not have been more perfect . . . just what I was looking for. I had found one on Craig's list and was getting ready to settle and buy it for $200. The table was almost the same as this one, but the chairs where not what I was really wanting. I feel blessed to have found this set and that it cleaned up so well. Here's to sandpaper, paint and elbow grease :)

Thank you for your kind comment in my blog. I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit ;-) And that you would like to follow my blog. Which I, of course, would love for you to do. Unfortunately I am not very computer savvy, and do not, in fact, know how to do so. I do have some followers, but how they have managed to do so, I have no idea...

Sorry I can't be of more help. Should you find out how, I'd love to know.

Btw, I've loved my visit here. What a wonderful job you've done with the table and chairs.
