Sewing With Connie

Oh, I have been having a busy week . . .
We are seriously thinking about joining the folks that have left
their land-line phones and gone mobile.
So after getting my phone, I decided to sew a protective case for it.
I added a little pocket on one side (the front)
So this is the back :)

Here I am ready to go shopping.
I spent hours last night learning to operate this phone.
It may take me a little while, so in the meantime,
we'll keep the land-line a bit longer :)

Another project
Are you getting an idea  . . . of what I'm making?

We have so much going on in our lives at the moment,
that I find myself getting filled with anxiety,
and that is something I do not like or need in my life.
So the best thing for me is to pray and stay busy . . .

My worrying and being anxious will not add
one unit of measure to my stature
or the span of my life.
Matthew 6:27

And another project . . .
When I'm sewing all other thoughts go by the wayside :)
I get fully vested in my projects.

The colors in these two projects are high inspired by
Carol at
Art & Sand.

Pillows for my upcoming porch make-over.
The front side . . .

The back side.

The front . . .

The back.

Well, there we go . .  I've got a good start on my make-over.

What are you doing this week?

Keep Smiling,

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  1. Your mobile phone case is fabulous Connie and very useful too. I love your cushions and the patriotic theme. Your porch is going to look pretty darn good. I'm trying to get into a new routine here, since John retired from work. We've done lots of trips out in our campervan which is great but my house is getting ignored at the moment! Have a great weekend.

    1. Good Morning Patricia, it is going to be a different life . . . Hopefully your John will find time for some hobbies and interests that he has just not had the time to pursued because of work . . . then your time for your personal passions will return. Maybe he would like to start a camping and photography blog . . . we love seeing photos of your travels :) Keep Smiling :)

  2. Connie, I love the flag pillow and the wonderful detail of button on the back.

What's the news on the house?

I have been sewing this week. I made my tea towel pillows, sewed a couple little pillows I painted, made some white pillows for the sofa that I plan to paint and am making a romantic pillow (with ruffles) for a blog friend. It feels good to be sewing and to be using up fabric.

    1. Good Morning Carol, So happy that you like the pillows that you inspired . . . I'm making more and more plans about the house , but it is going slow. That's where my anxiety is coming from . . . I'm a get-her-done kind of girl, but goverment people and bankers take their time :)

  3. Hi Connie,

I dumped my land line about five years ago. I haven't had a problem at all -- and none of the politician's calls during voting time! Your pillows look wonderful. I can't wait to see the full reveal of the front porch.

I have a hard time with stress - most of it (well, maybe all of it) is work related. I'm hoping to retire next year. I watched the Nightly News and they had a segment about meditation - even if it is for only 10 minutes a day. I've decided I'm going to give it a try. I know I will have a long haul with this as I train myself to "tune out and stop the mind chatter."

Always fun to pop over to see what you're up to.

    Hugs,
    Kay

    1. Hi Kay, meditation can be a wonderful mini vacation from all the cares of the world. We are surrounded by just to much noise. It's everywhere!
Thanks for stopping my, I love seeing your face appear in my comments :)

  4. Your pillows are so cute and I like the phone case. We talked about giving up our landline, but it is alot cheaper than a cell so keeping it. We have ours bundled and it only costs 20.00 a month.

    1. Hi Betty, that is what I always thought, but now that our daughter lives out of state and loves to call and chat . . . wish I love, too :) and two little granddaughters that are starting to call to visit with grandma, well . . . the cell is one price, so I won't have any big long distance charge surprises, LOL. Now I just have to learn to operate the darn thing :)

  6. I like your mobile phone case. Now you need a strap to put it around your neck when shopping! I would anyway so that I would not lay it down somewhere while shopping! Nancy

    1. Good Morning Cynthia, I am delighted that you like my pillows. They were fun to make. Now I'm planing on doing a couple more and making some slip covers for my gliders . . . So far i've used fabric that i've had on hand from other projects or fabric that I've bought on sale and stashed for a rainy day :) I like using painter;'s canvas for slipcovers so I might be off to Home Depot this weekend.
Have fun with your crocheting, I'll be stopping by to see what you're making :)

  10. The only reason we still have a land line is because of the internet which we had through the phone company. Since we've switched we can probably ditch the land line now.
    I love the pillows

    1. Hi Ann, well, it is taking a bit of practice getting to know my new phone. some of the things on it that I will never use, get in the way of the basic phone and voice-mail that I need to learn. When Steve got his new work phone (a couple months ago) I thought it would drive him crazy, but now he loves it . . . so we'll see :) I am very happy that you like my pillows . . . I want to make a couple more, but haven't decided just what I want to do yet. Thanks so much for stopping by, I was really in the mood for a little chat with a friend :)

  11. Hi dearest Connie, Oh my, what SWEET pillows! That red, white and blue designs are soooo pretty!! I especially love what/how you designed the back of the pillows. These will be an eye catcher on your porch! Oh, how I will miss my porch when we officially move. Your phone case is adorable as well. We still have a land line...I guess I'm still too ole' fashion to get rid of it yet. But with the cost of things, I understand why people do away with them. Actually, I would rather have my land line than a cell phone....eeeekkk! did I say that?? but it's true. Oh well, have a wonderful and blessed week, my dear friend. p.s. I wish all my friends could have won the giveaway....hubby drew the name.

    1. Hi Roxie, I agree with what you said about only having a land-line, but Steve wants me having a cell phone, especial when I travel. Unlike the Midwest, out here we have 40 to 70 miles between some towns, so a woman breaking down along the highway or needing help in anyway becomes a concern. So, for us it's a safety issue and keeping both lines seems like a waste of money and somewhere that we can save :)
Your give-away was wonderful and I am very happy for the winner :)

  12. Connie you are so clever with the beautiful things you make! I love the mobile phone holder, but you have made it perfect by adding that little outer pocket for your card and cash so all you need do is grab it and go!
Loving the cheerful cushions you've made for your porch makeover too, and it's times like this when you have worries that it is a blessed thing that you have these talents and passion for sewing, and you can immerse yourself and hopefully find a bit of peace of mind.
