Country Cothes Pin Bag

Anybody up for a Solar Dryer:)

I do not have a clothesline up yet at our new place,
but it is on my list.
Maybe this winter when the snow flies and Steve needs a "honey-do" job.
He can fire up his welder and make me some poles.
I found this little "0 to 3 months" bib overalls at the Goodwill for $1.98
They were too cute to pass up.

So I sewed the legs shut and added cotton lace.
Then I whip stitched the snap crouch
so it wouldn't open and spill all my clothes pins out.
Then I drew a hanger pattern
and went out to Steve's shop
and cut a half inch piece of plywood scrap.
I painted it first with gesso,
to help smooth the plywood.
And then again with exterior house paint.
After all it will be hanging outside a lot of the time.

Well, here it is hanging in the laundry room.

I really think that it turned out cute
and it holds 100 wooden pins.

I distressed the hanger and used rubber stamps to decorate it.
Here are the cotton lace legs. . .

and the back . . .
the clothes pins give it a little bit of a rounded bottom:)

After I finished sewing I went to the mailbox and this lovely
card from my daughter was waiting for me.

Don't you just love going to the mail box and finding something from a loved one.
It's the very best!

Much better than advertisements and bills, LOL

Well, that's what i've been doing.
It feels so good to have time to sew again.

Have A Magnificent Day!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  4. What a cute project! Hearing you speak of a clothesline brings back memories. My Granny always hung her clothes out to dry. Everything always smelled so fresh.

    1. I am a huge fan of sheets dried on the line. My husband always thought I was a bit crazy when I would speak of it, until I put up a clothesline (at our other house) and he slept under sun dried sheets. There is a difference that fabric softener just can't match :)

  7. Hi Connie. Thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog. Now I can follow yours and see what you are doing. I adore your uber cute bibby clothes pin holder and hanger. Reminds me of hanging clothes and linens out on the line with my Grandma. I was just amazed at how she could rangle those twin size (I don't think king existed yet) sheets all by herself. Creative Bliss...

  9. I need a clothespin bag! Our dryer died. As a family of 5, I'm using the clothesline until we can decide what to buy. So many mixed reviews out there. Thanks for sharing Connie!

    1. Good Morning Sherry, Good news is that it died in the summertime. Hanging clothes on the line in cold weather is not fun :(
About 14 years ago we bought a new Maytag washer and dryer and we have not had one single problem with them. I wash around eight loads a week and only use a line for sheets and wet swim suits, so they get used a lot. I would never buy any other brand. Just my opinion :)

    1. Hi Rebecca, I have a love for all things denim especially bib overalls. This little pair was just plain adorable, and since I don't have an infant grandchild, well a clothespin bag would have to do :) It was one of those super simple but loads of fun projects.

    1. Hi Roxie, well we are both very busy making our new places into homes to enjoy. We got the insulation completed on my art barn this weekend and now we need to get the electric in. I know we are going about it in a backward fashion. But, I want exposed conduit and I wasn't sure where I wanted my plugs until I got it all arranged. Right now I'm using a heavy duty extension. We need to have Steve's shop rewired too, so we are in the process of getting estimates. It isn't cheap buying old and updating, but we love our new place and it will eventually be completed :) Thanks for your sweet compliment on my little clothespin bag. I just loved those little overalls and couldn't pass them by :)

I have one...but it's a little dress. I have to fuss with it a lot for my taste...when hanging out the clothes. But I really like the dress. I was thinking I might need to bring it in and modify it just a bit. The bib overalls are just adorable!
    YES! I love gettting mail.

    1. Hi Patrica, my last clothespin bag was made from a little boy's cowboy shirt. It lasted about ten years, but then became very faded from the many hours that it spent in the sun. It was time for a new one . . . and these little infant bibbers struck a fancy with my soul :)

  27. Cute, cute, cute, Connie. What a great idea for those little overalls. I've been catching up on your posts and saw you moved! So I went back from the start when you and Steve got the keys and worked my way back. I'm so happy for you, Connie. I can't believe how you made that old bathtub shine, and how you did the bathroom flooring all by yourself. You are amazing, Connie. As we wait on the Lord to bring all our dreams together for a new cottage, I'm inspired and encouraged by your house story. Can't wait to see more of your new life on 1 acre. Love the goats! 30. Oh Connie, how cute is that? Adorable!!! You have a real eye for making something beautiful through upcycling. I love the wooden hanger you made, too, but best of all is the little round bottom once it's filled with the clothes pegs! I love your laundry room curtains, too. Your daughter is as talented as you, if she made the card she sent you.

Loved your photos of all the caravans, and also the vintage show, too. Lots of lovely ideas!
