Sun Bonnet Sue Quilt

Just another sweet day . . .
I'm enjoying and celebrating life :)

Harvesting peppers from the garden . . .

These are hot!

And These are hotter!
They are going to make some dynamite chili this winter:)

Look at this . . . my biggest sunflower.

The quilt that I cuddle with at night while watching TV . . .

Was getting threadbare . . .

So I used it for the batting of a new one  :)

(always trying to save and recycle)

This set of embroidery designs is from Oregon Patchwork

here's a link if you are interested:

http://www.oregonpatchworks.com/

I walked around the yard trying to find
a place to get a good photo of it.

I finally hung a clothesline across the barn.

The back is solid yellow polka dot:)

These colors should bring a little sunshine into the house

this winter when the skies are grey.

Oh, this is a surprise gift for a friend.

I hope she likes it:)

Well that's

THE END

of my little post . . .

not many words, but lots of pictures:)

I hope that all of you

are having as nice a week as I am.

 God Bless You.

Your blogging sister,

Connie :)

    1. Hi Laurie, thank you so much . . . that barn is my art studio. I love it! It is wonderful having a place to spread out and work on a project without having to clean up in between days when you have other things to do . . . I just leave the project spread out all over the place until its done. It's good for that messy part of my soul, LOL.

    1. Hi Nancy, thank you so much . . . I couldn't see throwing away something that could be reused as the lining. Maybe it is because my folks were newlyweds during the depression, but we were pretty much taught to not be wasteful :) It is always funny to me how the younger generation think that they have invented recycling. My parents and grandparents were into it and I'm sure that theirs were also :)

    1. Hi Ann, I wasn't sure how to quilt that boarder area . . . then it hit me "daisies", I'm glad that I went that direction. The daisies just fit the polka dots, right:)

    1. Hi Val, I hate throwing things away that can be recycled. I've saved old quilts and blankets and used then to pad pot holders, too. They can look worn on the outside and still make good middles, LOL. Thanks so much for stopping by . I always enjoy hearing from you:)

    1. Hi Val, it is wonderful to see you here . . . I do not know what GFC is but I'm happy that you are here and looking forward to getting to know you better through blogging. I enjoy hand quilting, but this one I did on my machine. It was hard rolling it up and working with that much fabric on a regular machine, but where there's a will there is a way, right :) Have a lovely weekend.

  16. I love your quilt!! The colors are wonderful. All of your pictures are fantastic. I remember when I canned hot peppers many, many years ago I didn't wear rubber gloves and my hands burned for a long time and nothing would take that sting away. Boy I wised up real quick after that experience. LOL! I always love to see your new posts! God Bless You.

    1. Hot peppers are something that you really have to be careful handling. I used to love putting cayenne on my popcorn, then one time I scratched my face (right by the hairline) the pepper embedded itself into my skin and for about four or five days it was on fire . . . now salt is enough for me, LOL.

  17. Oh, Connie, you just pack so much into everyday! I am so happy for you that you get to follow your heart and passions. The quilt is beautiful and those peppers! Are you going to dry them, freeze them, or what? I love the banner, and your friend will be so happy for it.

    Hugs,
    Kathy M.

    1. Hi Kathy, we are going to dry the peppers and then grind them into pepper flakes. I am certainly enjoying my new county life . . . there is more work to do, but a lot of that is just because it's a fixer upper . . . some of it will be a one time thing. Yesterday we picked up our delivery of new windows and so far we have four out of twelve installed. So it looks like we'll get them in before cold weather:) Thanks so much for stopping by . . . I love visiting with you :)

    1. Good Morning . . . so happy that you like the quilt. Hot peppers are suppose to be every healthy for you . . . I guess they burn all the bad stuff up, LOL. No, really we just love hot and spicy food. My Steve makes this chicken gumbo where the first bite is so hot if you don't take it easy you will choke on the spices, but once the first bite has been savored the next is amazingly delicious. It is one of my very favorite dishes:)

    1. Good Morning Rosemary, really . . . not so brave, we don't eat them whole, we cut them up or dry them and crush them into flakes and add to many dishes. They have a lot of flavor as well as heat :) I am excited that you like my quilt, it was fun to make and now it is fun to cuddle in my chair with. Cold weather is on its way so this quilt will be a comfort on those cold winter evenings. Thanks so much for stopping by, I get so much pleasure from reading comments and getting to know my blogging sisters better. Have a lovely week:)
