Washi Tape Make-Over & A New Roof

Get that Washi Tape out of the Craft Room . . .
And into the Kitchen:)

The other day I was going down an isle at Wal-Mart
And I spied a picked over display of Washi Tape for 97 cents.

There were only three rolls of this red and white and I bought two.
If I would have had this idea then,
I would have bought all three.

 Before

After

Well, I didn't have enough to do all
of my kitchen cupboards,
but I like what I did.

Not bad for a couple of dollars . . .
What do you think?

We also had roofers come this week
and put on a new roof.
We are trying to get all of the major jobs done
before we are both retired.

And having a 30 year roof should
last us . . .
well until we don't need a roof anymore,LOL.

Needless to say the roof make-over was
a bit more expensive than the
Washi Tape.

Ever if the Washi Tape make-over was the cutest, LOL.

Have a great day,
&
Keep Smiling!

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  1. Wonderful idea.

I have open shelves made from black walnut. I have been playing with the ideal of placing a light paper behind instead of painting the wood. I shall look at contact paper and crafty things now.

    1. Hi Gail, there are so many options . . . we just have to start thinking outside the box and seeing where our crafting supplies can be used in new ways around the house :) They make so many papers and tapes in pretty patterns and colors.

  2. What a fabulous idea, and so pretty. I am going to do this.. I will make sure to get many rolls :). I am doing the same thing, getting all the major things done before I retire. I had my roof done 2 years ago and it wasn't cheap :)

  3. I love washi tape - and I have that same roll you used. I put some on my breadbox and my coconut oil container! (I didn't like the label) You come up with the greatest ideas. I have the same polka border, too in my craft room and classroom. I think it is very popular. I rarely see it at teacher store.

  7. Love the tape idea. We had a new roof put on two years ago and I do hope it lasts til we sell the place. They say roofs are suppose to last 25 to 30 years, but I think it is more like 15 years. This is the second one we have had on this house since we have lived here these past 17 years.

    1. Hi Betty, I'm sure that the years that they last have a lot to do with the weather in your area. I know that over on the western side of our state the roofs get a lot of moss and it shorten the life of the shingles. So there are probably a lot of things that have to be considered. Anyway we are feeling really good having a new roof over our heads . . . I hope that yours last you as long as needed:) I'm delighted that you like my tape idea:)

  8. Your Washi tape addition to your cupboard edges looks so sweet! What a nice way to update the insides. I like your drinking jars - our daughter and her husband like using them too. She has a cute country kitchen to use them in. We re-roofed our garage/shop this past summer (we used metal roofing this time around) and it is a big cost and was a big for my husband who tackled it on his own. Thankful to have it done and him in one piece : ) Have a great weekend.

    1. Good Morning, I woke up very early this morning so thought that I would blog while enjoying my morning coffee. Washi tape is made for journaling, scrape-booking and paper crafts and it comes in a amazing array of patterns and colors. This one was perfect for my kitchen. I bought it with card making and journaling in mind, until the light bulb came on and I got this idea for my kitchen :) Your letter came yesterday, will try to get one mailed back tomorrow :)

  20. Don't you just hate those expensive redo's that we have to do, but they don't lend any "cuteness" or fun to the house - plumbing, electricity, roofing.

I have way too much washi tape, but I am thinking I should use up some of it on the edges of the shelves in my garage.

It was a true fixer-upper, but is a dream come true. We have always lived on a small lot in a neighborhood and now we have an acre with elbow room and space to garden. Last year was my first real garden and we loved going out back and picking fresh vegetables and living off our land. I think that the yard work is what is going to keep us young. Again, thank you so much for following by blog. Have a lovely week.

What a great idea for washi tape! You are one clever gal!!! I've been so "unplugged" lately. It's hard working full time and keeping up with everything. I've been knitting, though, and only need to take some photos and write some posts. Maybe I'll do that this weekend if it's snowing outside!

I bought the Washi tape and it was setting on my kitchen island waiting to be taken out to the art barn, when the idea came to me. If it hadn't of been red and white polka dot and matched my kitchen curtains so well, I probably never would have had the idea, LOL. 37. Hi Connie,
I like your cupboards and your homey cups and glasses. I retired a couple years ago, but worked as a para substitute last year. I am still on the list, but have not worked yet this year because I am watching our now 8 month old granddaughter Tuesday through Friday. I really need to go in some before the school year is over. You are smart to get the roof now. We need to be saving for one, but things keep coming up, and it is going to be hard to get that roof money saved before my husband retires in the next few years. Thanks for your comment on my Wildflower Wednesday post. How exciting to live on an acre! I hope you enjoy growing lots of food and find out what plants on your property are native and beneficial to the pollinators.
