A New Paper Piecing Project

 Hello, sweet blogging sisters.

Yesterday evening I started a new
paper piecing project,
that I first saw at
"Sandra Kaye"
Sandra's blog is delightful

and she has a tutorial
for this project right here:

if you are interested in trying this
she will lead you to a free pattern at
"Wild Olive"
right here:
You can download the pattern and print it on your computer.

I enjoy having hand-work that I can
do while watching TV in the evening with my
sweetie pie . . .
 Do you have a project,
that you do while your hubby is
watching his man shows?

I'm getting used to my very short hair,
&
I'm Still Smiling :)

Have a great day!
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  1. My hair is going shorter next week. It will be shoulder length.

With my hand issues, I am not doing much hand sewing and I miss it.

    1. Hi Carol, mine was suppose to be just above the shoulders, but I got much shorter . . . be sure they know what you want before that first cut :)
I am truly enjoying the projects you have been making. You have inspired me to make fall covers for my front porch gliders. I bought a big drop cloth yesterday at Home Depot.

  2. Have a lovely day, Connie. I, too, like having a hand-work project to watch TV by. My project is pieced paper hexagons...not getting very far, but I enjoy it! =D

  3. Ok, I am showing my ignorance. What is a paper piecing project? What do you do with them when you are finished?

    1. Hi Gloriade, The best way for me to explain is to refer you over to Sandra's blog . . .just click the link under her name. These can be used many ways, but the most popular are for piecing quilts.

  4. I crochet and have made 3 baby blankets lately. Most of the time I sit at the kitchen table with the laptop...when the man shows are on.

    1. Three baby blankets, that's a lot of work:) Does your man like the fishing, work working, car and truck show, too?

  5. oh I like that. can't wait to see when it's done. I hate to admit it but my husband watches tv in his man cave and I watch in a different room We have totally different taste in tv. I've tried hanging out in the cave and just doing my blogging while he watches tv but he complains that the clicking on the keyboard drives him nuts

    1. Well, the two of you certainly don't have a "who in control of the remote" issue, LOL :)

  7. I just know this is going to be gorgeous! I have never done anything like this. I enjoy embroidery but I think I have carpal tunnel and I can't embroider long before my hand is going numb and burning...:( Very frustrating! Anywho, I look forward to seeing the end result. Oh...and yes, I always have something going while the hubby is watching his man shows...lol! I'm usually reading blogs. :) Have a lovely week!

    1. Hi Vicky, my hands always hurt, too. Mine is partly arthritis and partly from a hand injury, but in both of my cases, I need to exercise them as much as possible and in many different ways . . . if not they will tighten up and I'll loose the use that I have. The keyboard is good for that, too, but hand sewing and my nightly hand exercises that I've been doing for seven years now are a big help. I can not imagine the pain it would be to not be able to do all the things that I love:)

  8. I just found her blog and read about this project. I think I will add it to my list of things to make. Can't wait to see how yours comes out. Love the fabrics you chose.

    1. Hi Betty, they are small and it is going to take a very long time to have enough made to put together for a quilt, but it gives me something to do in the evenings and in time I will have enough to make something . . . it might just be a while, LOL. I'm just going to start going through my scrap bin. It is a great project for scraps :)

  12. I've never been interested in paper piecing, but after seeing your post I'm inspired to try it in a new way. I think it would be fun to make the crosses, but leave the paper in and join them together for wall art. They would make great gifts. Thanks for sharing, Connie. (Don't worry about your haircut. It will grow and as they say, "If you hate your haircut, wait two weeks and it will be perfect." :)

    1. Hi Nancy, I hope you give it a try. After all the work you have been doing, by the time everything is done, you won't know what to do with yourself . . .this just might be the ticket :)
