Repurposing with Whimsy

I seem to always need a project . . .
they make me happy.
The finished product and the process:)
Do you remember this chest of drawers,
that I up-cycled around 6 weeks ago?
 The top drawer was broken,
so I left it out.
Now, it serves as a sweet little bed
for Butchy to nap in,
while I play in the Art Barn :)
Then I went to Steve's scrap pile
and found some small leftover pieces of wood.

Now, they are signs for the garden.

I may have gotten carried way :)

I put some squash plants in the garden
the other day and something
ate the tops off of two plants . . .
so, out with my rubber snakes :)
That's it!
Except for Homemade Chicken Pot Pie . .  .
Let's Eat!

Just having a little fun . . .

Keep Smiling
&
Have A Lovely Weekend.

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

    1. Well, rubber snakes are, LOL. I am not fond of the real ones at all and have actually fainted at the sight of them. What is it that makes the blood drain from my brain when I see them? So many people know the difference between harmful snakes and good snakes and they have no problem dealing with them . . . that's just not me.

    1. Hi Teresa, we just finished the leftover pot pie tonight. When I ask Steve if he cared if we had leftovers today, he smiled and said, "Pot Pie, Yum". Happy you like the signs they were fun to make :)

    1. Nancy, that is one of the sweetest things that you could say to me. I hope that my blog is an inspiration and not a show off. He has given us all wonderful talents and blogging gives us that opportunity to share with others. I know that I am inspired everyday by one or many sister bloggers whether in a spiritual, a practical or a creative way. Thank you :)

  11. Connie, how do you do it?? The signs are so pretty! I would love to have your "get up and go"! Sometimes I think of painting something...but dread getting all the mess out, so it never gets done. You accomplish something every day! You are wonderful!!

    1. Believe me, I have days that I feel like I have wasted away . . . my husband calls them days to rest and he says everyone needs them, but I enjoy being busy. I have a brother that is just like me, we get into a project and we don't want to stop until it is finished, even if it means staying up half the night. :)

  12. Your garden signs are great and I bet Butchy loves his new bed. Someone was saying the other day that rabbits had eaten some of her flowers that she had planted recently. I'll have to mention the plastic snakes to her.

    1. I have something that came in and cut off some of my squash plants. They didn't eat the plants, just cut them off at the ground. I thought that the snakes would help, but it must not be birds or rabbits. Fortunately I have more seed to replant. I think that when I do, I will cover them at night until they are bigger and stronger. Any ideas of what it could be?

    1. We enjoyed that pot pie for two nights . . . I am a huge fan of left-overs. They give me a day out of the kitchen . . . something I really do appreciate when I have projects and gardening :)

    1. Hi Vicky, well, I was only intending to make the carrot patch sign and then things started to snowball . . . one lead to another and there you are, a garden filled with markers. I just hope I can grow the crops to match them all :) This year's new vegetable for me to grow is beets. I tried eggplant the first year without much success, so I didn't repeat planting them again. Last year it was carrots and they were so good, that I will always be planting them. So, we'll see how the beets turn out. It's fun to experiment. Here's wishing you a lovely weekend, too . . . good weather and sweet family and friends to share it with :)

  15. That Chicken Pot Pie looks delicious and so pretty. I love the signs. How creative you are. I love the snake too. I had heard of that before but forgotten that trick. My cousin has had quite a few visits from real garden snakes so glad to hear yours were plastic.

    1. That's the only problem with rubber snakes . . . I have seen some that were so realistic that you might think rubber even when a real snake gets in the garden. Most of the snakes around here stay in the unpopulated and rocky areas . . . at least I hope that is true, LOL.

    1. I'm not sure sometimes if it is energy or drive . . . but I do get it done. I'm trying to teach myself to slow down, now that my age is getting up in the high numbers. It's just that my mind says I can do it all, but my body is starting to say slow down. It's a battle of good sense vs. strong will, LOL.

  17. I have not had chicken pot pie in decades. When I lived in San Diego there was a restaurant that specialized in chicken pot pies and I loved going there. Now you have me wanting one.
