Bright & Cheery Baby Quilt

Steve's oldest brother and his sweet wife
are having their first great-grandchild.
If that isn't a reason to make a baby quilt, what is?

I'm using Moda jellyrolls
and fabric from my stash.

To create a bright & cheery vintage print quilt.

I don't remember where all of this fabric came from,

But this sweet print came from an online
Hancock Fabrics order.

I'm using the quilt-as-you-go method,
and planing this quilt as I put it together:)
This will be the center of the front.

And this is the center of the back.
I'm having so much fun putting this together.

This 6 foot 1X6 will also be part
of my gift . . .
can to guess how I'm using it?

Check out my next post . . .
and hopefully the entire gift will be finished :)

I'm  sharing this post with
Share-Your-Cup
and lovely party put on by
three sweet blogging sisters
Jann, Carol & Jo
visit the party here:

Have a great week!
Whatever you're doing,
be sure and wear your best smile :)

As the song goes,
"You're never fully dressed without a smile"

Your blogging sister,
Connie :)

  1. That sweet cheery quilt would be welcome by anyone expecting a baby for sure. Congratulations to them. No great grands here yet but hopefully in the future! Your material is so happy looking! I would guess that ladder would be to hang quilts or something from?? I love ladders. Nancy

    1. Hi Patricia, thank you, I am happy that you like the quilt . . . come back in about a week and I should have the board finished and posted. Finding time for sewing and crafting is not an easy thing to do this time of the year. I am up to my ears in gardening :)

  8. It appears that the 'paper doll' fabric is our favourite. The other fabrics are cute too and so cheerful.

    1. The mother of this new baby does not want her daughter growing up to be a princess, so no pinks and ruffles . . .
I hope that when I give her this, that it will be more of want she wants for her baby. I know that I love the fabric, the prints remind me of the fabrics of my childhood. My Mama was always making by school dresses (remember, we all wore dresses everyday to school . . . no pants in our generation) and the fabrics that Mama choose were much like these :)

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by to visit and for leaving a comment. I love reading them and getting to know my blogging sisters better all the time. It's so funny, because 5 years ago if someone would have ask me if I quilted, I would have said, "Absolutely No!" It's something that I never thought I would even remotely want to try. Then I make a quilt and the quilting bug bit me . . . I was hooked. It is very contagious :)

    1. Dear Sweet Jann, you are the first blogging sister that is guessing in the right direction . . . great minds think alike, LOL. I'm happy that you like the baby quilt. I hope to get it done before she arrives, in a couple weeks. I have so much work to do outside this time of the year that quilting and crafting takes a backseat :)

  15. Quilt is so vibrant and interesting. Patch work is one of the best things about quilting. Quilting is more like an emotional job than just making a quilt. You put your thoughts, feelings, blessings and stories.

  16. Oh, this is the most DARLING quilt...just so precious..I am about to start a large quilt and thought about trying to do a quilt using your method...If I make the top in strips and sew them together, do I then just add the batting and a cute backing and then quilt it..? I will appreciate any suggestions you might have for me....I am soooo not a quilter.

    1. Hi bj, I'm sending you a you tube link to watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji8BLS2rNHA
You will probably have to copy and paste this into You Tube. It is the video that I watched to learn the "quilt as you go" method. There are a lot of different ways to do this, but this one works well for me. It might just turn you into a quilter because it makes quilting fun and easy :) Let me know what you think.

    1. Good Morning Miss Merry, thanks you for stopping by to say hi . . . I'm delighted that you like my baby quilt project. I hope to get in done in another week. It's hard finding time to quilt when the garden is calling my name . . . there is always weeding and harvesting to do. That's part of why I love summer, so I'm not complaining . . . I just love having time to sew, too :)
